We love everything about GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston. The staff is fantastic. They look out for my mom. The facility is beautiful and they do an excellent job. They have good activities. They try their very best to keep their minds active and going, and that's very difficult in memory care. If there's one thing that I didn't really care that much for, that's the food. I fully admit that part of that is that my mom is very, very particular about food and her old age. So, the food's been difficult a little bit, but they protect her, they love her, and they do everything they can for her. The staff listens to us and is very attentive to us as a family to respond to our suggestions and needs. They have an actual program that they use with them to help keep their memories going. They do trivia, armchair travels, and crossword puzzles. There is health care and they have people that come up and do exercises with them, almost probably four days a week. If Mom needed it they have a place downstairs for a personal trainer to implement physical therapy that she could go to. They have a movie theater and a craft room downstairs, too, but they pretty much do their crafting upstairs. They have a pool if they need to do pool exercises that the residents can use. They have music events that happen down there. They have festivals and activities. For instance, they had all the ladies decorate and make hats for the Kentucky Derby. They had little scratch tickets for betting and they watched the Derby together. They ate stadium type snacks and they watched all the festivities together. It was really wonderful. They have a Cinco de Mayo celebration there, so every month they have one or two celebrations that are really fun. My husband thinks it's overpriced, but we looked at a lot of places, and for what Mom is getting, I think it's a fair value. The other places we looked at were not as nice.

GenCare Lifestyle Tacoma at Point Ruston is a new place. The apartments were very nice. The food was great. The cafeteria was very nice. However, there was no place for a dog, and we have a dog. They showed us an apartment on the sixth floor, and I want a ground floor. It was an okay apartment. It was clean and nice, but it had no balcony, no patio, and no outside space. And I can't live in a box. We had lunch there, and it was very good. The people were very nice. The amenities were very nice. It's just the apartment itself was just an apartment. We have a house that has 14-foot ceilings and lots of glass, and there, I felt like I'm in a little box and I couldn't do it. There was no access to the outside, which was the big downfall, and the fact that there was no grassy area for the dogs. The staff were all very nice and very helpful. They took us around and showed us the swimming pool. The amenities were very, very nice.

My mom will be moving into GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston. The best things about it for my mom were the activities, the lifestyle, and the indoor swimming pool. Their staff members were very helpful. They're readily available. They have a great common space, a nice bistro, a nice open area for people to mingle, a theater, a nice gym, and a swimming area. I think the washer and dryer inside the unit were important too, because most of the places I looked at did not have them in the apartments.

GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston was very big and very luxurious in many ways, but they only provided two meals a day. It was much more expensive than the others, and so at that point, the price and the location were the deciding factors for that one. It's a new facility, so the rooms looked nice and they looked well maintained. The staff was pleasant. We only interacted with a couple of people there and they were fine. They just didn't look to be as accommodating as the folks at the other place we toured. People were coming and going, and it looked like an active place, but we didn't observe any organized activities.

We will be moving into GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston. The facility is excellent. It's almost brand new. It was only opened up just before the pandemic. The apartment is excellent. It hasn't been lived in yet, so we're the first occupants. We're going into a two-bedroom and two-bathroom. The staff members are fantastic. They've been very helpful and very welcoming. We talked with some of the residents, and everybody rated the food as excellent. They promote an active lifestyle there. So they have a swimming pool and a fully equipped exercise room with all the machines and so forth. They have a physical director who also serves as a personal trainer. We get up to three sessions with him a week. They have a movie room and an activity room. It's just a great modern facility.

The GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston facility is new, open, bright, and cheerful. The marketing people were very helpful and financially, it's a better situation than I had before. The food is very good, the amenities are varied and very upscale, I guess, that's a good word for them. I'm in their assisted living.

GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston was a very upscale place. It's brand new, everything was in great condition, they have a wonderful exercise facility and a swimming pool. It was very expensive. They have nice apartments. I looked at a 2-bedroom apartment and they're all new, so everything is new and the kitchen is nice and shiny. The dining area was very lovely, it's an open plan that's very neat and clean.

My brother has moved to GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston. Our experience has been A-OK, but the food is bad and just poor quality. Everything else seems to be ok. He's just using the residence, he has no special care there. It's a brand-new facility, it's really clean, and right now it's kind of nice because they're only operating about 50-60 percent capacity. So there's no overcrowding. Like when he goes down to participate in the gymnasium, which he likes, it's not very crowded. They have activities, he's just trying to get acclimated and used to his new living conditions. The people seem to be friendly and want to help. Of course, COVID kind of puts a cramp on everybody as far as being able to have openness in the common areas. If I have to go and visit him, I just have to go to his room and can't sit and eat with him or can't sit and participate in anything with him in the common areas because of COVID. It's a nice place, it's clean, and he doesn't cook for himself anymore. He gets two meals a day, but he's complaining about the food that it just has no taste and is not good quality. They told us when we moved in there that the food was great. It's about the going rate, they gave us kind of a deal when we came in there because they were operating at only 50 percent capacity and they're trying to fill the place up, so they were competitive on the pricing. They're pretty much what the going rate is, it's an expensive place to live, but all those places are. It works out to be $127 a day, which is a lot of money.

GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston was lovely, but it was just too big of a facility for my mom. Everyone was super helpful. It's just too large for my mom, so it wasn't something that, at this time, I would have considered. The person who gave the tour was very, very nice, and very helpful. All the amenities are very similar with other places, just the building itself was a bit larger, and so it just probably would not be a good fit for my mom.

I like the GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston area because it's between me and my sister, and it's a beautiful area. They don't have as many activities as the other place. The memory care was just like a wing in the upstairs and I don't have many nice things to say about it. It was nice and it was new, but we didn't like it. The rooms were kind of small and it's a darker part of the area, and the area wasn't that big. It just seemed very confined. It was the first I saw so I thought it was ok, but when I saw the other community, I thought it was 300 percent better. I didn't like that it was dark and cramped and didn't have a lot of activities for the people living there. The staff who gave me the tour was nice enough.

I went to GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston two or three weeks ago. I like the setting. You're right there, you go down stairs, you go out the front door, and you're right in Ruston and the little shops there. There are a lot of different things going on there. So for the atmosphere, I thought it was really nice. Very nice. The rooms were bigger overall. They were bigger with more square footage than the one I saw yesterday. They had a pool and a weight room. There were some different classrooms for doing all kinds of classes. I thought it was really nice from that standpoint. There was more stuff than you could really do. If you could do everything, you're awesome, and you'd be running around like a chicken with your head cut off. They have three meals a day. It's like a restaurant and it's open all the time, so you can go there and eat whenever you want. The staff seemed cordial, and it seemed like they were good staff.

GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston was a beautiful facility. They're beautiful there. It's a nice facility. It's a brand-new facility. They've got a swimming pool. They've got all kinds of things. They've got activities on a daily basis, and they're a wide range of activities. They were just getting started with doing outings when I was there. They got events in the facility itself, and then also out in the community. The staff seemed very nice, very friendly, and very welcoming. The apartments seem standard from all the different places I've seen. They were very nice.

We chose GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston for mom. I liked it for many reasons. Just walking in, it is open and inviting. Every single staff member I met was topnotch. They went out of their way to make my mom feel comfortable. I enjoyed very much their ability show me around and to see all the different activities that they have. The pool is a huge plus for my mom because she likes to swim. The rooms are very nice. She's just been in there less than a week now. So far, my mom is loving it. She is somebody who really, really has held on to her independence, and she has transitioned wonderfully. She is in independent living. The staff is topnotch, very professional, very friendly, and very inviting, specifically Erica and Nallely. She has a one-bedroom apartment, and it's like a condo. It's got a shower bench that she can just walk right into. There are safety bars all the way around from the shower to the toilet. It's plenty big. I like the fact that if she needs to stay in her wheelchair, she can roll her wheelchair right up to the sink. The only thing I didn't like about the rooms is that the only built-in lighting is in the kitchen and the bathroom, so you had to bring in lamps for both the bedroom and the living room. They have no overhead lighting for that, but I don't know if that's standard in all of these facilities or not. It's open dining. My mom is gaga about the food. She loves it. I have not had a meal there. They're not allowing anybody to eat there because of Covid. They have a daily happy hour with drinks. They have a pool, a vitality room, crafts, games, a beautiful theater, a bistro, and a private dining area that if you have family members coming in, you can reserve that space. They have a library and a huge lobby sitting area. They had more to offer than any of the places that we looked at.

GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston was beautiful, but it was just a little too above the price point. The staff members are wonderful, caring people, they are. The rooms were very nice. Everybody has their private bedroom in their shared rooms, but they share the bathroom. You walk through a door and there's the bathroom off to the left, and then there's a door for one resident's room and then the next door to another door for the other resident's room. They're kind of private, but they share a bathroom, and that was nice. They have a deck because they're up on the third floor. They can also go down to the courtyard, but they have to be escorted. They were wonderful and genuinely caring. The residents seemed to be very happy there.

We went to see GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston. It's brand new. It has just opened and not even a year ago. We met with the staff. She was nice. This is all towards the middle of Covid, so we had to be Covid tested when we got there, and she just showed us around a couple of different rooms and what was available. She showed us the fitness room and the pool and everything that my parents could take advantage of. She answered every question we had. We took a video and she was very patient and let us take the time we needed. It was Covid, so there was no food around, but they were talking about an area that is already built like a little expresso area, and then they would be making like cookies and cupcakes and that kind of stuff for all the people that are there. They also had a salad bar that they were getting set up, but due to Covid, they weren't able to do that yet. They're opening the fitness center up. I had nothing bad to say about GenCare, and it was very nice. We looked at both assisted living and independent living.
