My mother has moved to Dominion Village at Williamsburg. We chose this place because I met the support staff, the people, and the leadership. They took me on several tours, I talked to the nursing staff, and the physical therapists, and I also talked to some folks who had put their parents in with Dominion. The people have been very responsive to my mom's needs. She's got severe dementia and they're very understanding and talented people. I've seen the food and my mom thinks it's great. They have activities and they go on trips. And sometimes it's very simple, they do ferry rides and lunch, and she likes that. But they also have activities within the facility daily. It's an older facility, about 30 years old, but the place is well-kept. For memory care, they have about 15 room slots for that, and they got 31 rooms for people that are in levels 1 through 4 in assisted living. Everything's clean, and when one of the residents vacates for whatever reason, they have the room cleaned and painted. With my mom, they wanted to know what color she wanted for the room, so they're pretty personal with each one of their patients. It's one of the more affordable places. It's not one of the fancy places but it's very clean, the staff is very friendly, and they're responsive to me and to my mom. She loves it there.

Dominion Village Williamsburg was clean and there was enough staff. The residents there seemed happy. They have a beauty salon and a very nice patio. The rooms were small in size, but they were not uncomfortable. There's enough room for a bed and a dresser, then they have a closet, which is big enough and some of them have a shared bathroom. Some of the rooms are private, they're nice and clean. They have just gotten a van or bus to take the residents on trips or to church.

Dominion Village at Williamsburg was high on the list and was nice. The staff was very good. They don't have much turnover, which was one of the contributing factors, and that's what we were looking for. Everything that we looked at was spotless. There were no bad smells around or anything like that. It was near hospitals, restaurants, and pretty much everything.

My experience with the tour at Dominion Village at Williamsburg facility was great. They were proficient; they won't just do it. We saw all the amenities, it was a nice little place. We're leaning towards the other community, and one reason was that Dominion has a mental health care facility on one end, and the other end is more assisted living. I didn't care for the fact that the mental is on the other end. We also toured that area and it was terrible that people are in that situation. And my mother-in-law is not that far along, but we didn't feel like that we need her to experience anything more like that. The staff was excellent. They were very proficient and they were showing us things that were going on there, you couldn't ask for better people. They were great. We didn't try the food but the menus looked good. The layout of the place was fine. My only concern was because their showers have more of a step-in as opposed to just a straight walk-in, and people like my mother-in-law will have a bit of difficulty there. The rooms were nice, they were set up nicely. Although a little small, they would have probably been proficient. The staff, I enjoyed more than I did anything.

Dominion Village at Williamsburg is a nice community but the rooms are small. I just didn't care for the size of the rooms. Everybody who was there seemed very happy. I have a friend whose mother is there and she loves it there. She really enjoys it, but there is no way I could put my mom and stepdad there. The place was very nice, but it didn't suit our purposes.

My mother went to Dominion Village at Williamsburg for respite care. Our experience was very good. If we go on vacation again my mom will go back there. The staff was extremely friendly, very attentive, and took very good care of her. Her accommodations were very good. She enjoyed everything there. The food was excellent. They had a big dining room where tables were setup so they could all eat together as a group. It was a very nice facility.

My wife and I were highly impressed with Dominion Village at Williamsburg. My wife is a registered nurse who teaches nursing so she goes to different places for tours with her students, and she was impressed by the general appearance of Dominion Village. There were no odors. Everything looked neat and in place. It was very impressive. The staff member was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. The tour provided enormous amount of feedback and information. The dining area was neat and clean. It had no odor and it was very impressive. Some of the residents were playing bingo at that time.

We looked at Dominion Village. It seemed adequate, we were shown a room, and we thought it was something to consider in the future. We had a pleasant experience.

When it came time for me to find a place for my Mother I was at a loss. I had no idea what to do or where to look. The Physical Therapist of the re-hab facility my mom was in recommended Dominion Village. He said it was a quaint, homey and friendly facility that would match my mothers personality. When I started looking at different assisted living places I went to Dominion first. I walked in and immediately felt charm and a warm feeling. I met with Teri, who stopped everything she was doing just to give me a tour and answer any questions I had. I visited several places afterwards but no other facility gave me the feeling of home that Dominion gave me. My mother has been there now for several months, and all I can say is how blessed we are to have them. The Executive Director and the Nursing Director take an active roll with all of the residents, they will stop and help anytime, they are so friendly and accommodating. I can't say enough about the employees there, they have taken my mother under their wings and have nurtured her, they are so caring and loving. From the Executive Director, to nurses, CNAs, maintenance, janitorial, cooks, rec therapy, PT and OT. Each and everyone of them are wonderful, and each and everyone of them take an active roll with the residents. I am a nurse and I have worked in Rehabilitation and Longterm Care before, and I can say first hand that Dominion Village at Williamsburg is by far the best Assisted Living facility I have been to. I never worry about my mom because I know they are taking such great care of her. I recommend Dominion Village to everyone who is in need of a loving and caring place for their loved one.

The staff was absolutely wonderful and caring at Dominion Village. I was there for a couple of hours. We talked in the manager's office. Then she and I walked around, and she showed me the type of rooms that they have. I took a whole lot of pictures. The rooms were so small that most of the people leave the doors open because it's like going to jail if you close the door. They had all these people walking up and down the hallway. So it's like living in a hospital with no doors in it. I myself I don't think I could do that. If the rooms were a little bigger and I could have a microwave and a couple of things in there, I'd be happy with it. They've got a dining room that they all commune in. There were a couple other activity rooms. I believe sometimes they show movies. But also, everybody's got a flat screen TV in their room. It's nice, but it's too small. I like the center court that they have, and that was very nice. I like the lady who ran the place. I love the way she handled the people. I walked up and down the hallway with her for a long time going from one thing to another, and she stopped several times to ask somebody who was in a wheelchair and somebody who was pushing the wheelchair what they were doing, and she was so careful and so cautious, so nice to them, and they all loved her to pieces. That's the kind of personal thing that you need, I guess.

Dominion Village woud be my number one place if my parents can't live independently. The place itself is good because it's closer to a nursing home. Their staff is very compassionate, supportive and understanding. The thing that I like about Dominion Village is that their speech therapist is also a hearing impaired specialist. You don't find that very often. This place is really nice, awesome and very intimate.

The girl who showed me around Dominion Village was very nice, but the facility seemed a little older. It was assisted living and it was one room. The rooms were very small. The staff was very nice and very informative. They had reading groups and they took them out shopping. They had quite a bit. For someone needing assisted living with one just room and not being very active anymore, it would be nice, but it just wasn't what we needed right now.
