After having shoulder surgery. I decided to go to Nansemond Pointe for PT & OT. Both PT & OT were excellent. They were all cheerful and compassionate. Anytime I rang for help, someone would always pop their head in to see what I needed and find the right person to help me. The food was very good and Dietary visited me to see if there was anything I needed or wanted to change on my diet. The nurses and nurse caregivers were pleasant and willing to help me whenever I needed help. I liked the fact that the doctors visited often. Housekeeping staff and Maintenance staff were excellent. Everyone that participated in my plan of care kept up with my progress in PT & OT, Team Work Makes All of the Difference~ Thank-you All.

My brother ended up with a UTI because they refused to flush his catheter. He also ended up with sepsis because they did not give him his antibiotics after going to the ER. They also do not keep supplies need and let my brother's chest tube bag over flow back into his chest and arm. They also took 45 minutes to call EMTs when my brother was seizing saying it was shift change and he was just nauseous. Do not send anyone you care about here.

My mother , Elizabeth, is a patient/resident of Nansemond Pointe and has received excellent care. The entire staff has been very friendly and caring. They meet me with a smile and a warm welcome when I visit my mother. The nursing staff has been very professional in assisting my mother with her medical needs. The therapy and therapy staff were outstanding. The administrative team has been very kind and supportive. Judy Umphlett Horton

I am a care provider for my mother. She is currently in the Hospice program. I was offered the Respite Stay program the week of December 26, 2014. It was a wonderful break from taking caring of my mother's daily needs. I love my mother but when you are taking care of an elderly hospice parent it can be very overwhelming. It was truly a blessing and a much needed break that gave me an opportunity to get some rest and relaxation. The care that my mother received was excellent and her needs were met. The facility was clean and the staff was pleasant and attentive to my mother. I look forward to receiving the Respite Stay Program in the near future.

My grandmother lived in the assisted living side of Kindred for the past 4 years. There is so much positive to say about this facility. It's small- 2 wings with private rooms and a central dining/ hang out tv room. The rooms are a nice size with two huge closets, a private bathroom and a small under counter fridge. The staff has always through the years been kind, happy, and compassionate. Whenever anything happened to my grandmother they quickly contacted me and worked closely with me as she declined. The food was always plentiful and offered a nice variety as well. The whole enterprise is clean and homey and amazing care was provided in a safe place. I really appreciate all that the staff did!

I visited ten nursing homes before I made the decision to put my father in Kindred Transitional Care. This is his third stay there in 6 months. Everyone is so kind and sweet. I was there or one of our private duty people about 14 hours a day. Everyone was so helpful. Daddy cried when I took him home because he did not want to leave his friends. The therapist where fabulous. The doctors said he would never walk or eat again after his stroke. They where able to work magic! He learned how to walk, eat and speak again not just once but twice! Now we need them to work there magic again for the third time. I am so thankful for each and every one of the people who work at this nursing home for making my fathers life so much better!

I was very, very pleased with the care of my family member. The nursing and therapy staff went out of their way to help and work with my father-in-law. He was a difficult patient, at times, very hard to get along with and at other times mean to staff. The staff never failed to be nice to him, no matter what. The facility was always clean and free of smells. I would definitely use them again when needed.

My experience with the assisted living provider was one that was fairly well. Both of my grandfathers went there after having major surgery done. My grandfather had a stroke and went to stay at a nursing home for several weeks to try to gain some of his speech back. My other grandfather went to a nursing home after vital signs dropped and he started to forget things. Both experiences were very much different and much of it had to do with my Grandfather's different personalities and the nurses they met. The staff was overall helpful and attentive and the newly renovated wing was very attractive. The facility was kept very clean and both of my grandfathers seemed to enjoy their stay for the most part. The staff made them both feel right at home and as welcome as much as they could. The only negative experience I had was when a therapist asked my grandfather who I was. I did not really understand why he would want to embarrass him knowing that my grandfather has Alzheimer's and he probably did not know who I was.

My husband was in this facility for about 4 months. In that period he had 4 trips to the local hospital. One for severe dehydration that caused his kidneys to start shutting down and was in ICU for over a week. He also ended up with stitches in his head from the call button whacking him in the head. They said that he threw the call button across the room and it ricocheted back and hit him in the head. This was a man that could not even pick up his arms never mind being able to throw something hard enough to fly back and hit him hard enough to cause 8 stitches. The cleanliness and up keep of the facility also leaves a lot to be desired. The care and treatment of the residents also was not even close to being what I would consider good.
