I stayed at Commonwealth Senior Living at Churchland House for four weeks. I like the meals. They were nicely served. The food was good. The staff members were attentive, but they were not too plentiful. They had bingo and Bible study. They had reading and jigsaw puzzles available. I chose a small room, and it was satisfactory. They had a salon and a courtyard. Portsmouth is rather small, so everything is nearby. The upkeep was satisfactory. The cleanliness was good.

Commonwealth Senior Living at Churchland House is my least favorite of everything I've seen. It was expensive. It was not as updated as some of the others for the price point that they gave. The staff seemed to be okay; I didn't have a problem with them. Compared to others, they weren't as outgoing or friendly as the others. The room looked okay. The staff who toured me was nice. He was good. They serve three meals a day.

I was very impressed with what Commonwealth Senior Living at Churchland House had to offer. When we went there, they knew we were coming, and they had everything together and all the paperwork and stuff to give us right then and there. It was very, very well organized. It was well-kept. They were all very friendly.

My father has moved into Commonwealth Senior Living at Churchland House. Their staff has been very wonderful. They've been doing a great job. They have activities for them. They have a lady that comes in and talks, like a Bible study, and then they have another person that came in just to have a conversation. They have an activities room and a dining room. The most important thing is that he has his own bedroom, and he likes that a lot so. In terms of value for money, it's a little expensive. I appreciate that they went out of their way to take care of my father and provide them transportation to dialysis; to us, that was the number one thing.

Commonwealth Senior Living at Churchland House is very caring and loving towards all of their residents. My husband has a private room and it's kind of on the small side. Food is good and the dining area is nice and clean. The atmosphere is very upbeat. They have bingo, devotion, chair yoga, scripture learning, sing alongs, wine tasting, and all sorts of things. They have a lot going on there.

The tour I had at Commonwealth Senior Living at Churchland House was very good and very informative. It's a small community with only about 80 residents. You get to bring your own furniture and decorate the rooms if you choose to. So, it would feel more like home. The person who gave me a tour was very nice and seemed to have a heart for the community and the best interests of the residents. They treated all of them as if they were their parents/grandparents. They were under renovation. The rooms looked OK, but some of the corridors and all looked like it could use some fresh paint. The staff person said they had the carpets cleaned every so often or monthly or weekly or something, but I think they could do a lot better than that. The dining area was small, but I think it accommodated the number of residents they have. They also had a TV room, a garden area, and a little a sunroom area.

My friend stayed at Commonwealth Senior Living at Churchland House for respite care. I thought it was good. The majority of the people were there because they wanted to be there, not just because they had a job. They had smoking areas outside of the building that were pretty convenient. It was really nice-looking inside. I think the only complaint I had was they made you pay ahead. When the next person's coming in, you've already paid to have it cleaned, painted if it needed, have the carpet removed, or whatever. I thought that was a little steep for 30 days; but in long term, I think it would have worked out better. She was there to continue to build up her strength, and it was helpful for her. The halls were clear, so she could walk up and down the hall and walk to dinner. She could go sit outside and enjoy the day if it was a nice day. She got to know people and sit and talk with them. I think it was a pretty nice community. They had plenty of activities, if you wanted to participate. They had lots of arts and crafts. They had somebody that painted their nails for free at Easter, and they put little bunnies on them. They had bingo, devotions everyday, and monthly birthday parties. They were very active.

My mother is in Commonwealth Senior Living at Churchland House. It seemed like they always take care of her. She's gotten better since she's been there. It seems clean and well run. They have stuff to do and there are constantly people up and down the hallways. So far, so good. I noticed that sometimes the food looks really good and sometimes she said it's OK. Her room is not real big, but it's good enough. It seems very clean and very well maintained. She's not doing any activities right now. She's on oxygen, so it's a little difficult. I had noticed people in groups come in and sing, and I see on Sunday, they have a prayer service, they have movies, they have music playing, and they have bingo. I think she played bingo the other day. It seems like a lot going on. I can't complain at all. The management has been very helpful and everyone that works there seems very helpful and they're paying attention to my mom.

My friend seems to like Commonwealth Senior Living at Churchland House. They have things to keep the memory care residents interested. They have an activities director and she is a nice lady. She would do reading with them and other things. They're also going to start a card club. I was invited to have lunch there one day, and the staff members seemed to be very friendly. The food was good. Everybody eats together unless they eat in their rooms. The dining room was nice, too. They tried to put people together that are compatible at certain tables (which I think is a good idea).

We went to Commonwealth Senior Living at Churchland House. It was very clean and neat. The grounds were very pretty. It's a beautiful place. The staff was very knowledgeable, and she was very easy to talk to. Some of the patients when we were there were doing adult coloring with colored pencils, and I thought that was cool. The rooms were very pretty, they only had two to choose from, just a larger one and a smaller one. I like their layout, they were all one story. It was one long hall, and you could see the nurse's station from everywhere. I like that layout.

We toured Commonwealth Senior Living at Churchland House and I liked it. It was very nice, the staff was the one who gave us a tour and was very helpful. We saw some of the seniors and they seem to be enjoying it there. The rooms look nice. I wasn't too impressed with the studio or the small room suite, only because it wasn't quite what I thought. The bathroom didn't look as big as I thought for someone who might be in a wheelchair, but the next size up, the Deluxe Suite was very nice. And they have their own little garden where they get their vegetables and herbs and stuff from. That's something that the seniors or the residents work on. And they had a big TV room, and they have grounds you could go out on. I was impressed with those places. Everything looks good, everything looks clean, there were no smells and nothing like that. The dining area was very nice, and if you want, you can go eat with your family. But they also had a separate place you could go sit with your family because their seating was a little more limited for guests, but they had another place you could go and sit with your loved ones if you wanted to have lunch or dinner with them. They were very good.

This facility is old, many things in poor condition. Unless you want your family member completely ignored, don't bring them here. Nobody cares about anything. My father fell and they didn't send him to the ED, turns out he broke a vertebrae. They charge you for care they do not give.

I toured Commonwealth Senior Living at Churchland House. The staff was very friendly. The facilities were a little more used and not quite as nice as the other place, but they were clean. The seniors that were sitting there did not look as happy as the ones at the other place, but everyone looked healthy. The room was absolutely gorgeous and it would have been very good for my friend, but I prefer the other one. They had a craft area and a garden where people could go sit. I didn't see where they ate their food at that time because it was still earlier into COVID, so they were still eating in their rooms. They had me sign in, they had taken my temperature, and they're all spaced. Commonwealth was really, really nice, but they did not accept Medicaid.

Commonwealth Senior Living at Churchland House sucked. We asked them if they were capable of handling my mother-in-law because she was declining and they kept telling us yes, then she fell and broke her hip and they're saying it happened at 4:00 in the morning. We and the hospice were never called. She was taken to the hospital, but I didn't even get a phone call that my mother had been admitted. The general appearance was good, but very deceiving. The layout is fine. As far as the staff, they weren't good at all. They didn't take care of my mother-in-law properly. I wouldn't recommend this facility to my dog. The staff will walk past people's doors and the people would be screaming out for help, but they'd keep walking. They walk up and down the hallway with little earphones in talking on their phones. I went in one night, and there's this girl who was supposed to be a nursing aide who was just sitting on a bench sleeping.

As I walked around Churchland, I saw the staff interacting with the residents. It was very nice, it was clean, and the rooms were clean. The workers seemed to enjoy what they were doing, and the residents looked happy. They all looked clean and well-kept. I was very impressed with them. The sales staff was pretty consistent with what they told me.

I visited Churchland House and checked out their rooms. It's not as upscale as the other facility I visited, but it was nice. They had speakers come in. It was clean, the staff was very friendly, and it was closer to me.

The staff was very helpful and cordial. Actually, their pricing was out of my budget, so I didn't go any farther. I just met with the director, and that was the farthest I went. Once I found out that Churchland House was out of my range, there was no reason to go forward.

I would give you a negative review on this place. I hate to do this to them because some people were very happy with them. I was not. I didn't like the staff. I didn't like the set up of the facility. It was clean, though. The room was spacious. Their food and dining room was fine. They do have activities but not as much as the other facilities. If your loved one is almost ready for nursing care, then this place is for them.

When I walked in at Churchland House, I felt a dark mood. In talking with the administrator, I felt that everything there was done for a price. I heard nothing about loving the people and caring for the people. I would not go there to live.

i wish I could give them a zero rating. Nasty, uncaring staff. Food you wouldn't serve your dog. In fact, I would not leave my dog there. Management only cares about getting their money.

Churchland House was nice and clean. The staff were really nice to mom and helpful to me. She didn't get the love and attention that she got in the other facilities. The facility was very attractive, large and roomy with good-size rooms. It's just that I couldn't afford to keep my mom there.

I can see a lot of interest and sincerity among the people in Churchland House. Everyone I saw there were caring and genuine for the individuals living there. They have entertainment, they have people coming in to socialize with them and they also have a lot of activities. But mostly it's the sincere caregiving. It seems like most of them have a calling to do that. It's expensive like every place is, but she's quite happy and that's number one priority. But it would be great if they could lower the price.

Churchland house is a nice facility overall. The landscaping and physical environment is attractive to the eyes and easy for residents to walk around on. Most of the nurses are very nice and very helpful to both residents and visitors alike. I have only had one bad experience, when one nurse got rude towards another visitor who was trying to visit the lockdown side of Churchland House and forgot to check in first. Overall, the residents seem very well cared for; the nurses are very sweet to the residents and very accommodating. I have also been on tour of the Churchland House in the lockdown section; residents there seem very comfortable, with their nurses accommodating each of them as much as necessary. As long as everyone follows the rules (checking in and out, for visitors, and adhering to curfews and medications, for residents), the place seems to be very peaceful for everyone.
