I was so disenchanted by Stratford House Rehab Centre, it was such a nice place several years ago. My mom was placed here with a broken hip, and always needed assistance getting out of the bed. The staff never offered to transfer her from the bed to a chair. Her doctor explicitly put in her chart that she needed to be placed in a chair for at least two hours a day. The only time she was able to move from the bed was during her physical therapy. She requested several times to be moved from the bed to a chair, and the nurses always said they'd be there in a few minutes. I guess a few minutes to them is a few hours, because she was only helped from the bed to a chair twice by one of the nurses. She was there for two weeks prior to being moved to another facility. She would click the call bell for help to the bathroom, and the nurses would come in turn her bell off and tell her someone would be there shortly. Once she had sat in bed for ten to fifteen more minutes she'd ring the bell again and the same thing happened over and over. Sometimes they were over an hour assisting her to the bathroom, and it was often too late. She would ask for something to drink and was told we'll get it for you in a bit, and most of the time it was never served. I had to hire sitters to stay with her to be certain she got just basic needs met...the sitter would often wash her. I can understand sometimes places are short staffed, but this was just absolutely ridiculous. The staff many times were just laughing and telling jokes in the halls ignoring patient’s bells. It was totally unbelievable to me. I think for the cost of a rehab center a family shouldn't need to hire around the clock sitters just to be certain their loved ones’ basic needs are met. It's quite sad, I highly recommend no-one send a loved one there without visiting the place first. You'll be shocked at what you see...it's pretty depressing.

The rehab facility where my wife is at is called The Stratford Rehabilitation Center. My wife has been pleased with it and I have been satisfied with it. They have been most accommodating. My wife has gotten a lot of therapy there. The therapy has just been most helpful, both physical and occupational. Although it is an older site, and it needs to be rehabilitated in my opinion, but I have no complaints about it. My wife was sick when she went there, and they accommodated her very well, serving her needs. With the staff that they have, I have no complaints about them whatsoever. They attempt to respond to emergency calls, and I have seen that not only with my wife but with others as well. So I have nothing but good things to say about the staff and their services.
