We have visited Dunlop House several times because my mother has friends there who recommended the place. We met with the administrator, who was very positive, warm and friendly. We toured three different types or room. They didn't have expensive amenities but they had was an open and bright central area where everyone congregated with a skylight, so it's very warm and fresh. It's not so much an active place where they're always on the go, but they do have transportation to different events and doctors. They also had medical people in-house. The population was more older than active. The place was refreshing, very accommodating, and all on one level.

Dunlop House is very comprehensive in the services that they offer. It is a lovely community, and it is close by. The only drawback is the expense; it is terribly expensive. The staff is very kind and attentive, and they seemed trained to be more hands-on and knowledgeable about some of the questions that I’ve heard people asking and that I had mentioned to me. They seemed to be generally involved with the residents, more so than a lot of places I’ve seen in the past. The rooms are lovely, and the residents and their families decorate them themselves. They are roomy, convenient, and they seem to be adaptable to all their needs, handicapped and such. They are user-friendly. One thing, a gentleman who was the principal of our school had his wife there, and he wanted to bring in some Ensure liquid supplement, but they wouldn’t allow him to do so. They had to use their own which was about $2 more expensive, so he wasn’t happy about that. But that is about the only negative thing I have ever heard.

Dunlop House was a great place and immaculate, but it wasn’t the right fit for us. We didn’t fit the culture, and it was all on one level. We looked at three rooms that all fit our criteria. The double room was beautiful, big, and spacious.

I visited Dunlop House and I would recommend it because it is a very nice, clean and homey place. I liked the interaction between the staff and the residents, and those who took care of the people were very nice.

My elderly great aunt was a resident here several years ago. She was very happy and comfortable during her time in this facility. It was her choice to be here. She wanted to go into assisted living as she did not want to "be a burden" on her family. (Those were her words, not ours. We wouldn't have felt she was a burden but she insisted.) We were worried that she would basically be institutionalized in a cold sterile hospital environment with unfriendly staff. Once she actually moved in, we were extremely pleased to find out that our fears were completely unfounded. She was allowed to bring her own personal "stuff" with her such as furniture and small decorative items. The facility is quite attractive. The staff is very competent and friendly. Not only that, they are always available, and they treat every one with respect. I was very pleased to find this facility.

My mother-in-law is a resident here, and loves it. Assisted living wasn't an easy choice for her, or her family to make. The first thing I noticed upon visiting was how beautiful Dunlop House is. My mother-in-law has always had an eye for decorating, and has done a beautiful job in her own room. The fact that she was able to bring her own furniture and personal knick-knacks was a great joy for her. The staff at Dunlop House is amazing. They are available 24/7, but aren't at all intrusive. The residents here are treated like the adults they are. They aren't treated like children, the way some traditional "nursing" homes do. I really thought this would be a very hard adjustment for her, but she has flourished here at Dunlop House. I heartily recommend it to anyone thinking about assisted living. In fact, I am nowhere near retirement age, but I wish I could live here!
