My grandfather moved to Spring Oak Assisted Living of Petersburg. We talked that we would pay until he was private pay using the spend-down until Medicaid was approved. Well now that was approved, but they want to hold us to paying private pay even though he has more money left. So they don't want to bill Medicaid and get Medicaid money that should be retroactive from December. So we've been arguing back and forth because they want to hold my mom responsible for paying the balance due. They just want the private pay money. Otherwise, my mom's really happy with the care that she's getting, so that's all good. They have games, they do events with the residents every so often. They ask, but since my grandfather is stubborn and didn't want to do anything, after several days, they just make him more active. That's good because he needs to. The staff is very friendly and very respectful, and they know certain things about my grandfather. It's nice that they have that personal touch with them.

My mother was in here, but they could not take care of her because of her dietary needs. They were giving her, her medications and assistance with bathing. They had bingo, trips to the Wal-Mart, little parties and dances, and services like Bible study. They offer three meals and snacks, but they were not that great for diabetics like her. She couldn't do a lot of the pastas, white bread, and pizza. They did not have a dietician regularly to see what the needs are for the elderly people.

My wife is at Spring Oak Assisted Living, and it's good. They have different activities, her room is kept clean, and the staff is very nice and very informative. They get along well with them. The food looks good. I haven't seen the library, but I've seen books around.

It is a nice, clean place. The staff has been very good and always helpful. When I have any questions or anything, they get them answered. I don't have problems. My mother has told me nothing but great things about the food. She really enjoys it.

The thing I didn't like about it is they didn't even know I was coming, so there was nobody there to talk to. There was a woman who walked me around, but they were unprepared. The rooms were adequate. Everything looked great. They had a TV room. The assisted living place was OK, but the memory care place was not. A couple of people I saw were cordial. The dining area was clean and looked fine.

I highly recommend this state of the art facility for the elderly. This facility is accessible to shopping centers, hospital, restaurants, and many doctor offices. This facility is also located near the General Lee battle ground war site. All the staff on duty were friendly and knowledgeable of the residents and their needs. There are alot of activites available for the residents and their families. I really recommend this facility to residents who enjoy getting out and who enjoy the company of others. The staff here is exceptionally caring to the residents. I really like this facility
