If you like to pay a lot of money to eat your food cold with plastic implements out if a cardboard box served by people who have a limited command of English the place is for you otherwise look elsewhere. BTW, caregivers also have a limited command of English unless they are American.

The staff at Allenwood at Pillsbury Manor was very nice, helpful, and full of energy. The bedroom is adequate for one person. They have a room for art classes, another room for playing cards, and a very nice dining area, but they don’t have a pool.

I really thought the staff there did everything they could to make my grandfather happy and comfortable. He was a difficult patient at times, and while I'm not sure he was the most difficult of them, he ranked up near the top. The activities that I saw were pleasant and fun, and the staff was always willing to go the extra mile to make sure needs were taken care of. That being said, my grandfather has now proven to be too difficult for them at this facility, and we needed to find a new place for him. It must be very difficult to help these community members day in and day out with what we consider simple tasks, so I commend the staff there for never getting too frustrated in sight of the patients or patients family. One time when I visited I found that they have a "flight risk" patient who always tries to leave the facility when guests come in to visit other people. Seeing how they handled that situation, allowing the woman to keep her dignity while also not allowing her to wander off into the road made me very confident. The food there was passable, but that's really the best I can say of it.
