The facilities at Primrose Retirement Community of Washington are very nice. For the most part, it's clean, but it is lacking probably a little bit in the resident's rooms (they're doing better than what they did when we started though). Mom has been there for a year. They just raised our rates, and that's the second time they've raised them. They raised them last July and now they're raising them again in February. The facility is beautiful. Memory care does not have a lot of amenities. They have a hair salon that you can use or you can have a beautician come in once a week to do your hair. They also have an area where people can get together and watch a show. Their staffing is kind of hit-and-miss. Some days they have enough and some days they don't. They have a few people that are wonderful with the residents and then there are a few other staff that are just there because they need a job. The food doesn't have a lot of variety. For a while, they got pizza every night for dinner and that didn't go over well with old people. Their activities are a hit-and-miss, too. They do activities with them and take them for a ride, but the activity director needs to be cloned. She's wonderful, but if they don't have staff, she becomes part of the staff.

We went to Primrose Retirement Community of Washington, it was beautiful and brand-new. It was a gorgeous place, and more expensive than the others we've visited. We had their food and did a full tour. They have friendly staff, nice views and it's a nice area. The food was old-people food. The menu was huge, you can eat any time of the day you want. All you had to do is show up in the room and hit a button, and a chef would come out and take your order any time of the day. So there wasn't a restriction on which hours to eat. And they had a free ice cream bar, so you could go to the ice cream bar, hit a button and someone would show up and make you an ice cream cone. I thought that was kind of clever. There was a lot of activity, and the room was very nice.

Primrose Retirement Community of Washington has only been open a month. They are not filled to capacity, but it was very beautiful. It was more to my mother's style of living, as to what she would be used to. Aubrey was amazing because we didn't have an appointment. We just stopped in, but they took the time and spent probably an hour and a half with us, talking to us about everything. They offer so much more than what the other places offered at a little bit more price, but it would be worth it. It would be worth the peace of mind for the family and for my mom to know that she would be happier there than the other places. We were invited to come back today for lunch. During the tour they served us a soda, while we were waiting for the director to come visit with us. They were yummy. They had an option of all different kinds of sodas, like mango, coconut, and club soda. They had all the varieties and flavors. They were very nice and cordial.
