I had a friend at George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home that I used to visit occasionally. I used to go there about once a month and have lunch with him. It's a beautiful place. They had some entertainment at one time. I have also interacted with some staff. They were very friendly and caring people. They had good nutritional meals. I think they were careful with their menus health-wise, but it was delicious food. I had lunch there three or four times, and they charged me a small fee. He had a fairly small room and it had a twin-size bed, and television, he had a computer there, and there were some shelves and cabinets. It was a single room and he was by himself. It was clean. I've been to some rest homes in the past where there were urine odors and things like that, and it wasn't like that at all. It was very nice. There was a common space where we watched some films and they also met there for activities. There was a gym, there's a facility for rehabilitation and working out, and there was a small library. They had a nice garden area that was attached to the side of the building with picnic tables and shade. It's a Veterans facility, so the cost is probably minimal for veterans. They separated most of the veterans according to the branch and service that they were in, so there was one area for Army, others for Air Force, and others for the Navy, etc. There was a camaraderie there through that because of the commonality.

I was very impressed and highly satisfied with all the staff at the home. They treated my brother with respect and kindness up to the day of his passing. I would be proud to recommend this home to anyone who is considering residing there. Lots of entertainment at the home plus bus trips to different places. The staff was always there when he needed help of any kind. Rooms were clean and comfortable with cable tv.

My father will be moving into George E Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home. The staff was fantastic. We were looking for a spot in the memory care unit and his doctor at the Veterans Hospital suggested we go there. The rooms were nice. The patient to caregiver ratio was low, which was 1:4 or 5. They're very understanding and I've heard them speaking to other patients and they're kind and patient. It's beautiful and smelled very fresh. The food was excellent. The staff would say hi to all the residents and knew their names. It was a very kind and loving atmosphere.

My 97 year old mother was in the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home for rehabilitation after she broke her hip. Her rehab was excellent and she is home with us after completing her rehabilitation program. The staff was outstanding and was responsive to her needs. The cafeteria staff was consistently helpful and the food was good. Treating the elderly is not an easy job, the staff remained upbeat and ready to help. The entire staff deserve a pat on the back.

My husband was in the Veteran's home since February. I managed to transfer him there when there was an opening. George Wahlen was very well run. They take very good care of your veterans out there. It's just a whole different atmosphere and they have a couple of activities director during the day especially in the D wing. They are just constantly waiting on their patients and they take very good care of them. The aides are very good; they're just awesome and make them feel at home.
