I was a mess when I came here. Dr. ordered 3 types of therapy. I have no money but Medicare gives me 20 days for this. Here are my observations on arrival. Should also tell you I am an old retired nurse/hha. 1. No Odors at all upon entering. 2. Rooms very clean and organized. 3. Beds are more comfortable than others 4. Meals on time and at least warm. 5. Food is following the nutrition guides and apperease homemade and not out a can. 6. Staff may be a little short handed but everyone is taken care of 7. Therapist are not contracted. They are employees and most of them have been here over 5 years. 8. The days are busy for the residents who want to participate eg: shopping, field trips. 9. live music 2/3 times a week. 10 GENERAL FEELING OF WELL BEING.

Do not let your loved one go to this facility. My father-in-law was moved to Wellington's skilled nursing area for in-patient rehab after being discharged from the hospital for a broken leg. He has multiple health issues on top of this. He arrived on a Friday, and we were trying to get him moved almost immediately. I have a 3 page list of problems we encountered that we'll be reporting, and I wouldn't publish it anyway due to privacy for my father-in-law. But here are a few telling things to give you an idea of their attitude: 1. Given what they do, they should be very sensitive to trip and fall hazards. I watched 4 employees step over a sprinkler hose sticking out that was supposed to be tucked into a sidewalk crevasse located right outside the therapy room door. After mentioning it on Saturday, someone finally did something about it Monday. 2. After raising concerns and trying to get him moved over the weekend, we spoke with the Director of Marketing late Saturday night, who agreed to meet with us on Monday morning at 8am. After I called to ask him Monday at 8:15 if he was still going to meet with us he arrived with the Assistant Director of Nursing. Both immediately started to justify things without taking the time to ask any further questions or to see if anything had occurred since we spoke. During that time, another nurse came in to get his vital signs that we asked to have taken. He did not want to get the finger cuff put on. The nurse got very annoyed and yanked the pressure cuff off. Regardless of it they are trained to not fight with patients if they are argumentative, the annoyed and rude behavior of the nurse in front of the directors is indicative of the attitude and culture they allow there. 3. When we were finally able to get him moved Monday to Temple Meridian (which I highly recommend) they would not send medications due to their policy. That is fine, so I requested a list of the medications they had given and when the last time he received them was from the Director of Nursing. The records were completely inaccurate, stating that he had not received some medications when in fact he had, and stating that he refused them, which he had not. I was in the room as were 3 other people when he took them. The DoN seemed completely unconcerned that the records may be wrong. There are a ton of small things, but just beware - the majority of the staff truly just seem to not care, and the standards the facility has for "quality care" are not at a level conducive to patient health or well-being. And don't believe the "sparkling clean" statement on their website either. In one weekend I went through a bottle of Windex and a bottle of disinfectant cleaner.

My aunt is at Wellington and I'm thinking about moving my mom there. She would rather be at home but she is comfortable there. The facility is nice. The staff is friendly, nice and professional. She hasn't complained about the food but she is losing weight. The food looks okay to me. The facility themselves have been remodeled and they are very modern. They have plantation type blinds and what looks to be wooden floor but is laminated wooden floors. They have nice sized closet and flat screen TVs in the room. The doors have alarms on them and if someone were to leave or come in, they can hear the alarm go off. They probably need to put something up outside where you walk into the door that is more of a barrier to the streets. The place sits right on 31st street which is a major traffic vein to the center part of Temple. I would be concern if someone where to get out that shouldn't be; they can be on the street in no time flat. My aunt seems happy with it though.

The last time my mom fell, she broke some ribs and the doctor wouldn't let her go back home for the simple fact that she needed 24/7 care. They put her in Wellington Place for twenty days. That place smelled and it was nasty. The guys who were doing the rehab were pretty sharp and care seemed to be very good, but the situation was bad. The rooms were made for one person, but they put two in there, so she couldn't really get out of bed and do the walker because she couldn't navigate around. I couldn't wait to get her out of there.

The facility is located directly across the street from Scott and White Hospital in Temple, TX, one of the best hospitals in all of the central Texas area. Being that my mother has several medical issues that need constant attention, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney problems, depression and the need for physical therapy due to an amputated foot and poor circulation in her legs which for the most part limit her ability to walk and confine her to a wheelchair, I am relieved to know that excellent care is just a minute away for her if and when it is needed. The staff at Wellington seems to be pretty friendly to everyone and considerate of my mother's needs. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of amenities other than a few televisions and a lounge. The rooms are shared with another person and are extremely small. The common areas such as the hallways, dining room and front desk are neat, clean and orderly. I like the fact that they offer activities for the residents outside of the facility such as outdoor games, shopping and sightseeing trips. My mother absolutely loves to participate in their bingo nights a couple of times per week when it is scheduled. Overall, I would rate the accommodations of the facility as sufficient and acceptable, but certainly there is room for growth and improvement there.
