My sister has moved into Oak Mist Assisted Living. The directors are fabulous, they do such specialized things. For instance, my sister's and her husband's 36th anniversary and they got them each there a beautiful, personalized cake and pizzas. They are very well versed in hospice care. If anyone does come to see her, and they don't think it's been handled professionally, they call me immediately. It is so clean, you could eat off the floor, it's just wonderful. Families are welcome. The only time they really object to family being there is during mealtime because there's six people in the home and they want them to eat family style. You can come any other time of the day if there's not an appointment with a nurse, or a doctor, or something. So, it's just a very homey feel and very open. and call me or my brother-in-law any time they have a question. It's just really top notch. Another lady in the facility is suffering from Alzheimer's, and my sister has dementia. Then there's another lady that's very elderly. So, it's not just for dementia but it is considered assisted living, but it's lots of hands on. There's always a caregiver there, and nurses come in. Since my sister is on hospice, of course there are other caregivers coming into. They have all three meals, and my sister is eating wonderfully again.
