We're in senior living right now here in Encore at Buckingham. I appreciate the good communication between the office, and if we ever need anything fixed, they send a repairman very quickly. We have good interpersonal relationships with the office staff, and I appreciate that. We have our own food. Five mornings a week, there's a communal breakfast, but it takes me a lot of time to get my husband dressed and everything, so we haven't attended that. The timing is not good for us. We're in a one-bedroom apartment. What was a positive thing to come here was the bathroom is large enough for a wheelchair to get into and there are grab bars in the bathroom especially, for a handicapped person, which is very good. I like the layout of the kitchen and the tiny cupboard space, and it's open to a small dining area. We have pretty much our spot with office and living room. We have a very good west window, so we have plenty of sunlight, and the bedroom is two single beds. My husband needs his own bars and stuff on his bed. Between our bedroom and the bathroom, there's space with the closet so I can go right from our bedroom to the bathroom, and then the bathroom is accessible to the hallway just as one comes in. It's a good place for a washer-dryer. The layout is very helpful. There's an exercise program every morning, but the timing isn't really good, so I do my own exercises here. They have movies. There's also a beauty parlor, and I have appreciated the haircuts I can get there. Every so often they have a special time as I went to a baby shower Friday afternoon. It was for someone that had worked in the leasing part of the office, and she had been so helpful to us, so it was fun to go to her baby shower. They have all kinds of different activities. My husband is invalid, so I have to help him with walking, and he has some exercises to do. We are not looking for too much outside activity. We do have friends that stop by, but I know that the activities that they do have here for some are the things that they're looking for. In our case, it's not so much. They keep things clean. They just had a big, massive clean a month or so ago. They have a bus that takes people to some outings. They also take people to Wal-Mart. People can sign up for their time to leave for grocery shopping and other kinds of shopping. Pricewise, I think they are honest with what they charge, and I believe we're getting a good take from what we pay here. Compared to what we did then with what we have now, I'm much more pleased with what we have here. We're thankful here.

I almost didn't go to tour Encore at Buckingham because I read the reviews and it used to not be nice. They have fixed their issues now though so I went. The lady was very nice and I got to meet residents who have lived there a long time. They have a movie room with popcorn. They have different interest groups. They have a communal eating area or a dining room and they have a library. She made it clear that it's a good place to make friends. The apartments were nice. They do have a gas water heater and I don't like gas so that's one thing I don't like. Some people might not care about that though. They have balconies and the appearance of the place was very nice. I did not eat anything but I saw that they have a dining room. They were playing bingo in the dining room.

I toured Encore at Buckingham and it was great. It offers the things that I am looking for. I like the layout of the apartment they showed me, and I liked the amenities. I liked the location really because it is close to a grocery store, a drugstore, and a whole bunch of things. The facility itself, the amenities they offered, and the programs that they offered would just overall fit my needs the best so far. The staff members were extremely helpful and were willing to answer any questions and go into detail about what the facility was all about. They do not offer a meal plan. It flows very well in terms of facility offerings like an exercise room, the ballroom, and all that kind of stuff.

The staff is very gracious and friendly, however I had numerous problems during my year of residency. The staff has no flexibility to negotiate lease terms after you have signed. So read the lease carefully to ask for modifications before you sign. Clauses that I found particularly difficult/onerous after the fact: —a $200 surcharge when you go if you go month-to-month, —60 days notice even if you are month-to-month, —Extra door/gate opener’s are a flat fee of $75. It is not a deposit or a sales price. If you do not return the extra door/gate opener you will be charged again. —A $500 upfront charge, not deposit, if you have a pet. After I leased the apartment, I left a steamer and a few other items in it while moved my furniture from my home. When I returned, the steamer was gone. I was told they would reimburse me for the steamer, but this never happened. Every appliance in my kitchen had problems, most had to be replaced. —The electric sockets trip frequently. —The disposal did not work and the sink was backed up for over a week. —After the disposal was replaced, we found the dishwasher did not work either. —The microwave stopped working and had to be replaced so I was without it for over a week. —The burners on the stove were loose and would come unattached. I would think I was cooking, but I was not. There was a roach infestation which took months and was never handled. Eventually I had to remove everything from my kitchen cabinets to have the apartment fogged. This was difficult for me to do and I was not provided any help emptying the cabinets. The roaches were gone for a couple of days, but then we’re back. And they are in the walls and I was told they would spray my apartment but otherwise I just had to live with the roaches. I paid deposit $75 for an extra door/gate opener, but when I left they declined to refund me that money. My toilet regularly backed up and had to be plunged. The toilet seat broke and I was not reimbursed for the cost of a new seat. I paid $25 a month extra for a storage closet that was supposed to be re-keyed so my apartment key would work. This was never done nor was I given a key for the unit but I was charged $25 every month. Everyone is friendly and as helpful as possible, but there were serious facility problems. On the positive side, in general, I loved my time at Encore. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The facility is beautiful and the courtyard/pool area is well-maintained. The staff were supportive and approved (but only after approval by “corporate“) allowing community involvement presentations I recommended. The overall point related to the staff is they have no real authority.

My tour of Encore at Buckingham (formerly Bristol At Buckingham) was excellent. They had little apartments and I saw their exercise room. They had a number of different activities going on. The person who gave me the tour did an excellent job. They had a swimming pool at the back. It was a nice facility. They had movies and different things each day and events that they plan throughout the week or the month.

Encore at Buckingham was beautiful and we liked it a lot. It was extremely clean and the buildings were very nice. The amenities were very nice, too. The outside environment was very clean, spacious, and very neat. The person that assisted us was extremely helpful and very informative.

I have lived at the Encore (previously the Bristol) since 2010. When I first moved in it was a good place to live, then they started taking all these section 8 people and it turned into a dump. Someone would move in and then their grown kids and young grandkids would move in with them. We would have to listen to boom booms parked outside, see young men with their pants down around their knees and kids running around everywhere. The complex got filthy. Women were afraid to walk around the complex at night. There were drugs there. The police were out there all the time. This is a senior complex and kids were NOT supposed to be living there, but there were a lot of them. New management took over about seven or eight months ago and is turning the place totally around. The complex has been refurbished, most of the people with their kids living there are gone. The new management staff are great. The assistant manger Maranda is VERY efficient. She interacts well with people., listens to them and gets things done. Leasing agents Ashley and Crystal are also very approachable. The past management did absolutely nothing to clean the place up. This new staff is great. They have activities for the tenants all the time. There is a workout room for people and a hair salon with a wonderful stylist Fre. I go every two weeks for her to do my hair. She takes her time with you and charges very little. The last couple of months I have really enjoyed living at Encore...

I am very impressed with all the new upgrades that have been done around the property! The new staff is very pleasant and a joy to speak with, whatever issues we have regarding our apartment the ladies make sure maintenance is always on top of it. Most importantly for me I'm so glad to see the activities that have picked up for us to attend and socialize daily. I really do love the new look and all the new features of my apartment, by the way the location is the perfect access to everything as well as a great neighborhood!
better place around

My daughter who is a real estate agent had been talking with the leasing office for a few days. She went to visit and found the apt she looked at clean. In looking at what was available I chose another apt so she attempted to fill out an application but was unable to get the Bristol web site to respond. She called and tried to tell the person who answered what was happening, the person was dismissive and my daughter got no ware with her but did tell her we wanted to apply for this apt and would come tomorrow. When we got there the apt was already rented. I Suspect there is some kind of reward for the employee to be the one who rents the apt. No respect for a waiting list. and I read reviews back to 2002 that demonstrate over and over the lack of respect for seniors. Staff will tell you they have a new manager and everything is fine. I found same issues of disrespect back to 2002. Example'inspection'' of apts. If they find your privacy lock on $250 fine. on inspection day If you have a pet it must be crated all day in the apt. If you are sleeping they will come in anyway, don't get caught in the shower. Saw many people in the halls and elevator today that were no where near 55 - they take Section eight "families". Maybe if they treated the senior tenants better they wouldn't have to do this. Don't trust these people. Only place we found that had apts for seniors available, that says it all. Breeze way type halls, so hot difficult to breath probably cold in winter. Saves the landlord from having to heat and cool these areas. Do they realize they are renting to seniors? Have they heard of congestive heart failure? Are they willing to acknowledge how hard it is to breath in this heat while bringing items such as groceries to one's apt. What the people who run the complex don't know about providing a safe haven for seniors is apparent in the reviews. I read them from 2016 back to 2002 and felt I might be frightened everyday. I got out of there as soon as I could. One star is FORCED CHOICE, I would select no stars if they were honest enough to allow that. Person who toured us gave "things happen fast around here" as reason apt we were interested in was rented. Faster than a couple of days of conversation that occurred prior to our visit?????????? And refusal of the person answering the phone so she could rent this apt, I guess as fast as that.

The Bristol at Buckingham was a very nice facility, but it is truly for seniors that are still majorly active and very independent. This place was an apartment-style facilit without nursing care or assisted living. It was just an apartment complex for active seniors who might be downsizing. It was a beautiful facility, but it’s not what you would think of if you need assisted living. The staff was nice.

The Bristol at Buckingham was found after a 3 month non-stop search. Myself and a friend Cheri, viewed the apartments, exercise room, salon, easy access to other floors (via elevators), theater, and much more Easter Weekend, we knew this was where we were suppose to be. The office staff did everything within their capabilities to assist when moving, and there was a lot of paperwork-that goes with any and all certain properties because of new housing laws and rules. The Bristol at Buckingham, gives me the feeling of safety knowing when I'm away from home everything is going to be OK. -5/15 was my move in date and I'm not planning on leaving anytime soon!

This place bas gone down hill in the past 3 years, most all the seniors have moved out cause management property has raised the rent to 3 times amount this summer and also has made it Section 8 property so everyone moving in is paying less than half the rent of existing residents, management is not will to work with rent increase at all plus alot of paperwork to fill out, but they wont disclose this info to you until after u sign lease, also when elevator breaks down yhey do not offer any help to get down the stairs when its the only way down, I would make shure u ask about all i have mentioned in this review, so you have been warned. This will probably get erased to protect their leasing

I had a great experience at The Bristol at Buckingham. What I liked most about the facility was that it was very homey, and you could always have immediate help from the manager. If there was a problem, the manager was right there the same day or the next day. It was extremely clean. They had a clubhouse, a movie theater, and a van that would take us to different trips like to the fair, the pharmacy, and supermarket. They also had a swimming pool there and a library.

It's a very nice place. They did not include the meals. But the people were very helpful. I did feel a little bit of pressure to make a decision about my husband coming there. So I did not respond well to that. It made me feel uncomfortable. I wasn't ready to make the decision. Everything was very, very nice. It seems like a great place to be. But the experience I had made it difficult.
