We had my sister at Tranquility Personal Care Home before she passed away in March. They had absolutely no activities there, but on the other hand, it always smelled good, my sister was always clean, and they fed her well, so I guess you just can't have everything. The staff was very good. I ate there several times, and everything's homemade in the kitchen. Usually lunch is the light meal and dinner is the big meal. Everything was fabulous. The place was clean; I never went in and smelled urine. She was in diapers, but they kept her very clean, and she never smelled, so they took really good care of her. They didn't have activities but I don't think it would have made a difference one way or the other if they had activities or not because the residents had advanced dementia and just want to sleep all day. At first, when she got there, I didn't like the idea that there weren't any activities because they would basically just bathe the people and put them in a chair. They took excellent care of her, were very sweet to her, and treated her well.

I would recommend Tranquility. It's a nice place, and the people running it are really nice. It has excellent food; you'd think you're sitting down at your table at home. They're all really great people over there. I went over there one day and watched them cook. They have the kitchen right there, and the owners are the cooks. It's a small place, family-run with good ol' Southern cooking. It's really good food, and they fix it just like you'd fix it at your house.

My parents were here for over a year. My mom passed away at Tranquility. I had paid the following months room and board before she passed. The owners would not refund any portion of the room and board since my dad was still in the same room even though they did not incur any costs for feeding or caring for my mom. Greedy! I also caught one of the owners being less than honest when someone decided to move breakfast from 8 am to 7 am. They claim on the web site to have someone come in to do the residents' hair which is not valid. We were told that we would have to make our own arrangements. The meals are cooked by the CNAs which mean they are not available for the residents during meal preparation. The only stimulation I saw was watching TV. My parents caregivers at Tranquility were great! Which made some of their weaknesses a little more tolerable. My dad was relocated to a nicer facility that has actual cooks, activities and for less money.
