I like the atmosphere here at The Buckingham and I like all the employees. Everybody is cheerful and does a good job. We have a menu when we order or we go to the dining room and eat. The food is good. The facility is great. I have two bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. They have Bridge and all kinds of card games, painting classes, exercise classes, anything you might want, and they take tours outside of The Buckingham to art galleries and restaurants. The staff is great.

My husband is at The Buckingham. I think they are trying; his case is difficult. On Monday I'm going to a meeting with the team and we're going to review how it's been going and what's the care ahead. The physical is beautiful and luxurious. His room is very clean and very nice. The staff is very nice, but sometimes they are difficult to understand because most of the people there are not native English speakers plus the masks. The food to me looks excellent, but my husband has a problem. One of his cancer symptoms is that he's lost appetite and with the chemo, for him nothing is appealing. But I think it's much better than the hospital food. They try to make a variety and to cook it in a way that's appealing with all sauces. It's excellent. I think it's kind of overpriced. It's very expensive and I'm not so sure that the care you get there is any better than the care you get somewhere else. But the facility looks better than the ones I've visited.

We toured The Buckingham, and it was very nice. It was the second that we would have chosen, if we hadn't gone with the other community. It was just very professional. The guy that gave us the tour gave us the answer to all of the questions. We visited with some people very briefly that were there, and they were all positive. It just looked like it would be a nice place to live. It was clean and big. They had a swimming pool and trails. The apartments were very nice. They had one on the bottom floor, which was attractive to us because we had a pet. We thought about it, but we decided that we could go with an upper floor. The meal plan and everything that they had was good. The only reason we went with another facility is that they were going to bankruptcy. We just felt like that was a negative that kept us from going to them. They got a lot of nice features and several different living areas. We were able to see three different apartments.

The Buckingham was a beautiful facility. The staff was very attentive and my friend enjoyed her stay there. She was doing some rehabilitation, and each time I visited it was clean, well taken care of, and they were friendly. Another thing I was impressed with was the level of security. When you go in there they get a copy of your ID, they take pictures of it, and give you a visitor's pass even before you get past the welcome desk. I've been there three times and each time there were multiple staff members at the front desk, mostly two of them, and they were very friendly and interacted well with the residents. They also had complimentary healthy refreshments out. It was a lemon-lime and cucumber water and they made it available to everyone, residents or visitors. I had some of it and I thought that was very nice. They had personal attendants or physical therapists that would come in, take them to the rehab, and bring them back. They were engaging with the residents, and that was good. The grounds of the facility were really, really clean, but I didn't see a whole lot of extra stuff on the grounds. I've seen some places that had the trees and all of that, they had some, but not a whole lot of them. If I lived there I would like to it be a little warmer or scenic.

LIPSTICK ON A PIG.. I have had multiple relatives there on multiple occasions and will not allow anyone in my family to ever be admitted there again. The Plaza is simply a dressed up version of a low price, low service medicaid facility. Per protocol, residents are evaluated and plans are developed. These are required for medicare and medicaid reimbursement. The problem is that the plans are not executed. This facility maximizes their revenue from Medicare. Residents stay until their benefits run out and then are discharged. Sometimes the patients are ready to go before the time limit runs out. They could be discharged earlier and are not. Sometimes they are not medically ready for discharge and are sent home only because their benefits run out. The Plaza is definitely a for profit business. The care providers don't care. Their skills are marginal and they are lazy. I've seen their employees transfer to other similar facilities and they don't last because they had to work. I have volumes of complaints but you get the picture. Please do not let your relatives be admitted to the Plaza if you love them.

The Buckingham is probably the premier place, but they're quite expensive and require you to buy your apartment. They have a flexible meal plan which we like. The thing I don't like about them is it's practically in Katy. There are a lot of people live out there that think the location is wonderful, but it's kind of out of the way. Their facilities and their amenities were absolutely top notch. They have all sorts of play and work activities. You can do your own thing. I've known about them for 20 years and I would recommend them if you don't mind living halfway to Katy.

The Buckingham was very nice. It was located in a nice area, but it was out of our league. You have to buy-in, which was non-refundable, plus the monthly fee. The place looked elegant and fancy. They seemed to have all the things that will make their residents happy. They had activities, a library, and shuttles to the medical center. They had areas for independent living, assisted living, and areas as you grow older like a health center. They had valet services, nice furniture, and uniformed and nicely-dressed staff. They have two or three restaurants and cafeterias.

We visited The Buckingham on a weekend, so we didn't have the person who normally gives the tour. The staff was very nice, but we didn't see the room nor talk about the cost. We liked what we saw, including the activity room, the place where they had physical therapy, and the eating area. They were among the top communities that I saw. I was impressed with the place; it was beautiful and had a homey but classy feel to it.

We were able to visit The Plaza at The Buckingham, and the place was nice. I was able to see the rooms, and they were nice. I was able to eat lunch there, and the food was good. It's also reasonably priced and probably one of the nicest ones in Houston.

The food was fabulous. My mom was injured and spent two months in their SNF unit. This is not the place to be if you can't feed, bathe, or use restroom facilities by yourself. At one point we hired a sitter to come for a week and help. I spent all of my off days from work here. Discussed in detail any charges that might me incurred prior to choosing facility. Provided insurance information up-front. Was never told house doctor didn't take insurance and after two months was saddled with a $5000.00 out of pocket bill.

The Plaza at The Buckingham is very good and nice. There are a lot of facilities, but the place is very expensive. The rooms are nice and very good. The dining area is very well-done, nice, and has a lot of light. They have a lot of activities there. They have physical therapy. There's a library.

The Plaza at The Buckingham was probably the Taj Mahal. They have given my brother the ultimate care. They were in that room constantly checking on him, taking care of him, and keeping the facility so clean and nice. The food was good. It was just an unbelievable experience. He's very sick, so he didn't enjoy too many things, but he loved doing the physical therapy. It kind of got him out of his room. I liked the camaraderie. The people being so concerned, sweet, nice, and caring. He did go to the 10-year anniversary of the facility. They had bands, harpists, and different people playing music on each floor. It was quite an event, and it was his birthday that day; so that was something really extraordinary because he had not been getting out of his room. We took him out to give him a little party in his room. Then he went to experience all that on the different floors with his family and that was just wonderful.

Plaza at Buckingham was very lavish and royal-like for senior living but the nursing seemed to be worse than the other facility my father was in. The staff was very nice and the place was well kept.

We appreciate your 5-star review, as well as your positive comments about The Plaza, our staff, and the appearance of our community. To earn your 5-star rating is a real compliment! For those who might not be as familiar with The Buckingham, we are a life care CCRC situated on a resort-style property along Buffalo Bayou in the heart of the Memorial neighborhood. The Plaza at The Buckingham provides a full range of health care services for an onsite continuum of care. Care levels at The Plaza include assisted living, memory support and skilled nursing and rehabilitation. One does not have to be an independent living resident of The Buckingham to move into The Plaza. Move-ins to The Plaza are available on a month-to-month basis and do not require an entrance fee. We thought you would like to know that The Plaza was rated “deficiency free” on our most recent annual state survey – an achievement our staff and residents are especially proud of. The Buckingham offers a luxurious, active atmosphere that inspires residents each and every day. The sprawling 17-acre community includes dozens of unique amenities that encourage residents to pursue their interests and passions, as well as embark on new endeavors. Our philosophy is based on the Masterpiece Living® program, which embraces a wellness-minded attitude and encourages learning by focusing on an individual’s key development areas—physical, mental, social and spiritual. The entry fee required provides guaranteed lifetime care, offers estate protection, predetermined future health care costs, and ensures our residents that they will never be asked to leave due to an inability to pay. A $72 million dollar expansion is currently underway to make room for more residents. The Buckingham acquired six additional acres to accommodate the project and will add 106 independent living apartment homes, 27 assisted living suites, 18 memory care residences and 32 private skilled nursing rooms. I hope this helps provide some further information for those who see your review. We hope you’ll return and that you will consider The Buckingham for any future needs of yours or your loved ones!

I was able to visit Buckingham as this facility is a very well known place. It’s a high end facility and also expensive. I have eaten there, and I can say that it's more of a resort-retirement lifestyle. They have so many activities. It’s a beautiful facility. Every single staff there was professional and generally accustomed to dealing with their clients. They treated them with respect and regard. The apartments there are beautiful. They have a very tight security in which they have a guard and a gated entry.

I’ve looked at the The Buckingham. They have independent, assisted living, and memory care facilities. I was just checking their memory care. They don’t have enough caretakers to deal with the residents -- they did not have enough caretakers on the floor in general. They only have activities for them in the morning and nothing in the afternoon. They just let them sleep after lunch. They had bingo, bridge, and they take them out to different places like trips to museums. The staff was friendly enough, but nothing special. The food was good; the dining area was nice and clean. The apartments were nice. They need more care staff.

The Buckingham was very expensive and very large. It had many amenities. They had a lot of staff that took excellent care of the bedridden and the people who are up and rounded and eager movers. All kinds of people had good service there. There was a lot of freedom attached there. They had the Alzheimer's unit, skill nursing and health care units. They had all manners of gradation of facilities for the seniors. The dining rooms were very open, airy and lovely. There were linen napkin and flowers on the table. Their meals were nicely presented and it made me want to stop for lunch. I had seen scheduled deliveries of meals and people sitting in the dining room. The people seemed to be brought regular meals in smaller portion because the healthcare people don't eat a lot. But they came back with a little snack and a beverage later. They fed them often. The place was absolutely spotless. I would recommend them to others if they had the economic ability to pay for it.
