We visited Misty Willow Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center a few times already. It's a nursing home and rehab. We liked it for my dad because they're close to home and we've had relatives and friends that have been there before too. The front office staff was very helpful to us in doing the paperwork for my dad. We need to apply for Medicaid so they would help us out with that. It's not the best of the best, but it's okay especially right now that my dad is under hospice condition. The main thing for us is that it's close to home so we can do regular visits with the family when my dad moves in.

My father is at Misty Willow Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. It smells like urine all the time, and it's a little bit dirty. When they moved my father into the room, I moved one of the little nightstands and there was somebody else's denture case under the nightstand. And there is dirt everywhere, like they don't sweep daily. I have to ask them to come in and sweep, otherwise they wouldn't do it regularly. When I'm there, everything seems to be fine. But my father seems to say that they hurt him every time they change his diaper. And today, he told me that one of the nurses just threw him in the wheelchair and that he wasn't trying to be careful. They have activities. At first, they wouldn't take my dad out until I complained and started asking for cameras to be placed in his room. Now they take him out into the hallway, but they put him in the lobby, and they don't put him in the activity areas. They offer to take them out once a month to do an activity outside of the nursing home. I think they went to Galveston last month and this month they're trying to go to the Nutcracker market. Regarding food, it is okay. My father is very picky with his food and doesn't like fried foods. There's not a whole lot of healthy food, but he likes most of it. It is just once in a while that he doesn't. I have tried to speak to some of the staff, but it's like they don't care. They'll do what you ask for the most part, but they don't show concern about what you're talking about. My father has fallen at least three or four times, but I didn't receive a call, not once. Not all of the staff members are bad, but they don't follow through. They also could do better at cleaning. There's some kind of smell that needs to go away. They need to move furniture to clean under there, and for the staff to show a little more empathy.

Please do not bring your loved ones here. They can not keep staff, so they always have temps. They do not communicate with each other so medicine sometimes are not provided as needed. They will literally lay your loved ones in there bed staring at a wall. For hours. Hygiene is a BIG problem here. My mother’s rash was so bad she would bleed and you could see how raw her bottom was. I finally got to see how the staff neglects your loved one. I put a camera up. They went 7 days without brushing her teeth. And it wasn’t the first nor the second time this has happened. I’m writing this to help another family not have to go through this. Imagine how they treat the ppl who have no family checking in on them.

If I could give a -1000 score I would. Imagine walking into a Halloween horror house full of people being tortured screaming. That is exactly the sounds at this nursing home. I had to file a state complaint to get their attention. Poorly managed place, with uncaring, unkind, just plane rude staff. I finally was able to transfer my loved one out of that awful place. They left my mother in her wheelchair for hours, while she would call me crying that they ignored her nurse call light. I would often call and be hung up on after holding for 20+ minutes. The senior person at that facility has been promoted to a new level of INCOMPETENCE. If you can avoid this place, do so knowing you have made the best choice for your loved one. RUN!!! DRIVE FAST IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!!!

The staff here is the most disrespectful and rude of any care facility I have ever seen. I am a nurse myself and they treated my mother like she was a piece of trash when she had to stay here. I would often come and find her in urine soaked diapers and clothes and the staff huffed and puffed when I would asked them to help her. She developed a stage 3 bed sore whilst she was there because they refused to help her out of bed or change her diaper enough. I moved her out of there as quickly as I could and she began to thrive again. The rooms look dingy and the furniture is falling apart. The hallways often stink of urine and feces. Avoid this place like the plague!!!!

Please, do not allow your loved one to stay here for long term care. Most of the staff views each person as a task and not an individual. They are rude and unkind. Instead of helping those in their care most staff look for the easiest way out. My father is there and they have left him in bed for over 36 hours at a time because no one wanted to help him into a wheelchair. Further, if they do help him into a wheelchair certain staff will leave him there all day without allowing him to get rest when he wants back into the bed. On more than one occasion staff has said that they are unable to help because they have to many patients and helping my father is just to difficult. Can you imagine paying a facility out of your own pocket thousands of dollars a week to be treated like trash? Further, my family has had to help other residents, who were screaming out for help with no reply from the staff, from falling out of bed and or a wheelchair by actually physically getting someone because no one answered the call light or the screams. This place is a house of horrors. And a very foul smelling one, at that. Almost every hall reaks of urine and feces. It also looks filthy. The only time it smelled clean was when the state visited. Please, if you are concerned for your loved one, do NOT place them here.

Great staff. Caring people. They try hard, keep a clean building and treat people kindly. The building is newer and in a good neighborhood. Would highly recommend.

Right now I am not too happy with Legend Oaks. The CNAs are nice, but the people working in the office are not. I am mom's primary caregiver and I have the right to know everything and they really annoy me because they won't communicate with me very well.
