My sister's clothes were stolen. It was a very cold atmosphere. She was OK one week, the next week she was found dead in her room. She was 65 and had colon cancer, but was not on hospice... how could she be dead in 1 week when she was ambulatory the week before? Doesn't make sense. This place should be investigated.

I visited Winterhaven Health Care Center two months ago. They were great, and everything was good. The room set ups were fine. They were a little bit small to me for shared rooms of two single beds for two people. They had something going on in their gathering room when I was there. I saw their dining area, and it was pretty big.

I was a Resident at Winterhaven & let me tell you all that it is not what it seems. During the few months I was there practically all my clothes were stolen, pictures, braces (that I need to wear as I have a progressive neuromuscular disease and cannot move) & money was stolen from my room. I had even spoken with a family member who was visiting his mother who subsequently has Alzheimers Disease & he reported to the state the mistreatment & theft that had happened to his mother & other residents at Winterhaven. The nurses are rude, condescending & lazy. I am a hospice pt. & when I would ask for pain medication it would usually take 30-60 mins for me to get it & I would, at least half of the time, get attitude from the nurses for asking. I had even been told that on a few occasions that I was not prescribed certain medications that I had been taking for months and had just gotten a few hours before. The staff has also hung up on my family members when they were calling to inquire about my condition and also hung up on hospice when they were calling to talk to my nurse. If you talk with the Administrator or D.O.N (Dire tor of Nurses) about an issue like neglect, theft, or nurses abusing the pts (both mentally & physically) they will tell you something will be done yet it never is. I have been in a few nursing homes & even worked in one before I got sick (I am a Dr w/my D.O. & Ph.D.) & I have never seen such a horrible facility. During my time there i also took pictures of roaches, spiders & gnats in my room. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!!

Winterhaven is a facility that in my opinion treats their members like family. The environment was positive and the staff and employees were very kind and helpful while we toured. They were able to answer all of our questions and concerns and treated us with kindness. Kindness goes a long ways. I very much appreciated all their help during this time of transition for my family and I.

Very clean nursing home. The staff I deal with are very caring and cheerful. The daytime nurse always gives me a call when something is wrong. Sometime she will call when nothing is wrong, just to give me an update.

Even though Winterhaven is an older facility, what it lacks in shiny bells and whistles, it makes up for with care of the residents I met there. All of the people looked so happy and well taken care of!
