My mom is at Village Green Highland Village. It is a small community. They only house 20 people. They each have their own rooms. They have a large kitchen where the caretakers do all the cooking. There isn't a chef that comes in, and the cost is affiliated with the caretakers. They do the cleaning, they help assist them in bathing, and all that's needed, but it's a family-based community where they all work together. There's not a lot of people coming and going to work there. There is a salon. They don't have a PT room, but it would be nice if they had it just because I think that's needed. But it's not that big of a facility. They have a large backyard with a big porch, and nice chairs where they can sit out on the porch, and they come and go inside and out as much as they want in the backyard. The front doors are locked at all times. They have like a large kitchen, and all the rooms are fairly good -sized. We were able to take a one-bedroom and put in my mom's studio, so it worked out really well. It's a perfect environment for my mom, but the staff needs to pick it up a little bit. The dining area is perfect. They bring the meals out to them. They're not completely on it with the food yet, and I think it's just because they're so new. They opened at the end of October, so they're just not there yet. However, it's so homey and nice. They're working on their activities, but right now, they're learning too. I think it's pricey, but it was the going rate for larger facilities.
