About Avalon Memory Care - Raintree Flower Mound - CLOSED in Flower Mound, Texas
Avalon Memory Care has gone to great lengths to provide a mode of care that is uniquely tailored to the special needs of the Alzheimer's victim. We are concerned with every phase of the resident's needs (physical, emotional, and social). We work to restore and support the resident's self esteem, dignity, and the resumption of as many of the daily personal tasks of which the resident is capable. Surrounded by family treasures and memories, the residents live in the comfort and privacy of their own rooms in a spacious, ranch style, one level home with built-in security features such as a secured patio and roomy backyard. They bond with and enjoy the companionship of other residents and inevitably form a 'family feeling' that eliminates the loneliness or isolation often experienced in institutional settings. They enjoy luxury accommodations including exquisite furnishings in these fine homes. We provide professional and sensitive care for the physical, emotional, mental, and social needs of our residents. Our care focuses on the safety and well-being of our residents, 24-hours a day. We have many excellent referrals and are licensed by the State of Texas as a small/large Class B Assisted Living with Alzheimer and Related Disorders certification. To learn more about this provider's license and review other available state reports, please visit: Texas Long-Term Care Provider Search

This facility has secure entrances/exits so that dementia residents cannot wander out. Meals are usually home-cooked but not that varied. Can be tailored to special diets. Served at a large dining table. Nice views to the outside, but the actual property has limited access. It's a large home with no parking area for families or guests except for the country road on the side. The only wheelchair accessible entry is through the gated back patio and sidewalks are too narrow for wheelchair safety. Sprinklered but no real safe exits for those who are not mobile. Staff number and expertise is inconsistent. Not all seem specially trained for dealing with dementia especially at times where only one caregiver is there and several residents are upset or challenging. Care staff does the cooking and cleaning and laundering so those chores take time away from hands-on care. No real program of activities other than the TV or a table game with a couple of people playing. Large living area with comfortable recliners. Kitchen open and easily accessed by residents, which compromises safety and sanitation. Very narrow hallway to most of the bedrooms. Repairs not done in a timely fashion, such as for backed up septic system, dysfunctional toilets, broken microwave, etc. Minimal oversight by the state, even though licensed. No oversight from Flower Mound re the faulty septic system (undersized for the constant use), or the food prep/cleanliness, or the actual evacuation procedures for emergency. No curbs on road, drainage is with ditches by roads, and the downhill flow would easily flood the intersection that must be traveled to leave the subdivision in case of heavy rain. The entry to the front door is up a huge flight of concrete stairs with steep incline in the property.
