My mother moved into Morningside Ministries at Menger Springs. It's close to me, and had other levels of care we were looking for. The staff is fantastic, her room is very nice, and it's perfect. I would recommend it because the staff is attentive and nice, helpful, the meals are good, the rooms kept clean, and they have several activities you can participate in. They have movies, bingo, they transported them to early voting, and a daily exercise class.

I went to Morningside Ministries at Menger Springs - Cibolo House Assisted Living Community. People can buy a house in that area or they can live in the assisted living apartments there. It's nice. Our church goes there to have a worship service, and I've been there quite a few times. It's beautiful and very well kept. Everything about it is just excellent. We went to a little Christmas program one time. The main ones I have come in contact with are the people at the receptionist desk and the man in charge of activities who is fantastic. The lobby in the main part that we always came in is beautiful. It looks like a home. They had a formal dining room, but when we would have worship there, it wouldn't be tables all over the place, it would be chairs lined up. There was a kitchen there as well. It was maybe for parties for the people there or entertainment because sometimes when we would leave, there would be somebody coming in to entertain them, like singing and playing of instruments and so forth. They have a chapel, too, that we have had worship service and it was very, very nice. Recently in the past, before COVID, and then recently when we started up again, we're in a different large room and it's very nice, too. Everywhere I've been is beautiful.

Morningside at Menger Springs is beautiful. It's very upscale. Their main building has apartments, they're nice, I have seen them before, but I didn't see them when I went this time, and they have homes. I have a friend that's in assisted living, but they're under pandemic, and they can't have visitors inside. We looked at that and she's got a little living room, a bedroom in the back, she doesn't have a stove, but she has a refrigerator, and a microwave. We've eaten there before too, and their food is excellent. They've expanded it where they have assisted living, then they have memory care, then they have a full nursing home, besides the houses that you want to live in independently, and the apartments.

I am a family member and guardian for a resident in AL. My mother has lived at Menger Springs AL for over 4 years. During that time there have been many, many staff changes (management, nursing, ancillary nursing staff, house keeping, dietary, activities personnel). The many staffing changes and continual adjustment of residents to new faces, including the use of agency LVNs, is confusing to the elderly population. There have also been errors in the administration of nursing care, including medication errors, residents not receiving baths on schedule, rooms not thoroughly cleaned, trash not emptied, and documentation errors in the resident nursing/medical record (now mostly electronic). All of these things are contracted services with Morning Side Ministries, and are paid for as "rent" when a resident agrees to live at Menger Springs. A written Nursing Assessment Care Plan is design by nursing staff and kept on file, but I have found that this is not consistently adhered to by staff. The nursing care of the resident suffers, and so does the resident. Texas has less requirements and regulations for Assisted Living than some other states, and as a result these AL facilities all have a wide margin of error where your loved one is concerned, and contracted care (paid for services) is hard to enforce. I was informed of that by the estate lawyers who deal with thousands of guardianship cases in Travis County, TX. As a result, family members, guardians, and the resident themselves (if able), need to be vigilant in order to receive the care they have agreed to and paid for. Menger Springs AL provides a room in which to reside, food at mealtime (quality is also 3 stars), some activities (more for Memory Support than AL), light housekeeping (not thorough or consistent), and for the most part acceptable medication delivery. The highest level nursing care is delivered by LVNs (12 month training). Nurse aides (Certified Nurse Assistants, or CNAs) assist with trash pick up and bathing (inconsistent). The resident must be mobile, have no bandages or wounds to dress, no braces to fit (by nursing care), feed themselves (including cut their own food with utensils), be able to dress themselves,...basically minimal assistance. Do not be deceived! These are the facts. I am a physician. My observations and comments are based on a wide variety of professional experience in both the military and civilian practice, and is several different parts of the country. Texas fall behind other states in this type of care due to fewer regulations, However, Menger Springs could and should be better based on their advertising, cost of housing/food, and mission statements. My mother resides at this facility for now, as moving the elderly, especially with dementia or chronic medical issues, is not an easy or clear cut decision. Best wishes in your search for an appropriate AL facility to match your needs.

Morningside Ministries at Menger Springs (Cibolo House Assisted Living Community) was pleasant. It's a very lovely community. We had lunch there and the tour was very brief but still pleasant. I really did like the place, but it was much too expensive for us. We looked at apartments in the main building and there were some outbuildings also. They have light hallways, they're attractively decorated, and the apartments were very nice. The dining room was pleasant and the dining room staff was very helpful. There were many activities that they offered, and initially we thought that was already our place until we found out we wouldn't be able to afford it.

Morningside was very good, but it's a little more expensive. I got a very good impression of the staff. The memory care section is very small, and I thought it was a little too close. They have an open area, but it's limited. It's closer to us than other facilities, and it was referred to us.

Morningside Ministries at Menger Springs is very well-managed, clean, bright, and cheery. The healthcare givers and nurses I interacted with were very pleasant and they treated my friend very well. The rooms were medium-sized with a private bath and shower, and you're allowed to decorate it any way you like. They have singers, game days, and different dancers. They invite families in for holidays and barbeques. My friend was there for about four years. The food was institutional, but it was fine. It's a lovely facility with lovely grounds.

Morningside Ministries at Menger Springs was one of the more expensive places we looked at. We couldn’t afford it, but we definitely loved it. It is in a beautiful setting, and the residents are very active. They have a walking club, and they all seemed to be very well-kept and very involved in the community. Ultimately, it wasn’t the right place for us. My grandmother has a bit more memory loss, and it wasn’t the right price for us, but it was probably our favorite community overall. The main thing was the location, the grounds to walk around on, and then the fact that there was a walking club for the residents.

I was able to visit Morningside Ministries at Menger Springs, and the facility was really nice and convenient. The staff was very friendly, and the one that I talked to seemed to be quite knowledgeable. I looked at a cottage, and it was clean.

I live in Menger Springs. The food is not the greatest, but the rest of it is kept very nice and clean. It is pleasant. It is just the food is school food, institutional, and not very good. It probably won't poison you, but it is not yummy. I did a water color class and dominoes. They are very good with assistance. I know when people do have a problem, they respond right away.

I like the fact that it’s off backside in the country. The staff is very good, except the marketing person that I talked to. He lead me on, but gave the slot to somebody else when I was ready to have it remodelled. The place is very clean and very well-kept.

Morningside Ministries have all three levels of care in one campus, which was really nice. You can move up as needed or move further into more care as required. You can go from independent to assisted to full time care and that's very nice. It is also only like 7 minutes from where we live here and that is a big consideration. The independent living was a high-rise kind of resort-looking place. It was very colorful. It has a great dining room and an activity area. They have happy hour everyday. The assisted living was a much smaller facility. They have 16 rooms that extended out around the dining area and the central room there. Their rooms were much large. They were one-bedroom units that were big enough where you can bring your own furniture in. They have lots of activities for their residents. They would take them out a lot around San Antonio and Boerne area. Food seemed to be the best of all the places we saw. They offer a huge variety of foods. If you don't like what was being prepared, you can ask for something specific. We like Morningside a lot. Everything about that place was light and open. The staff was very friendly and very attentive. The people that live there seemed pretty happy too, which is always a good thing. We like it a lot but we were just concerned for my mother about the change in environment and location.

This is one of the nicest places that I have been too. I would live there myself if I could. When you walkin you feel like you are in a country resort. The rooms are nice size and the staff was very pleasant as well. My grandmother received great care while she was there as well. The staff would come in every other day to give her a shower and would come within seconds if she called them. She even said that the food was good. She met many nice residence as well, I guess everyone was happy with the service they received. They also had a wonderful rehabilitation service that made my grandmother get up and exercise so she was back home in no time. This is one of the nicest assisted living facilities that I have ever seen.

I researched every nursing home facility in the Texas Hill Country before choosing Morningside. The nuse/patient ratio is superior, the facility new (opened 2009) and the nurses/attendants first class, smart and caring.
