My dad is in SomerOak in Somerville, and it's very nice. I really like it. He gets really good care there. The staff is just excellent, the nurses, and all the workers there are topnotch. They have bingo and arts and crafts. They have a Wii game that my dad loves to do, and they have exercises. They also take trips to Walmart. He's got a nice apartment there. It's very clean.

We chose Someroak Senior Living for my mother. We've visited a couple of others, but the prices and the care in this one just fit. It was clean and well-kept, and there were no deceptions about the prices. It was very clear with regard to the cost of the apartments, and very clear about the levels of care. It was $200 for each level, whereas in another place, it was $600 for each level. The staff members were accessible, they were engaged with the residents. The space in the facility was well-kept, and the rooms were arranged well, we were impressed with that. They had one 1-bedrooms with screened-in porches, which is nice for my mother who likes the outdoors.

Everybody at Somer Oak was really friendly, but they didn’t seem organized. The assisted living complex seemed very nice but didn’t seem to have activities. The person who assisted us was very sweet, but she did not know the prices or the rates. They needs to improve on that and use someone who is knowledgeable and can give more information.

Someroak Senior Living was very pleasant. In fact that's the one I decided on in the event that I could move my father here. It was very adequate; it had a nice little atrium in the center that if he just wanted to go outside of his room, he had his own door to let him out into the center atrium that was outside and just sit and enjoy nature. They had a nice, man-cave kind of room if he just wanted to watch TV by himself or sit with a couple other guys. But he would have adequate facilities within his own room. It was like an efficiency apartment which had a little kitchenette in it. It was very nice. They had craft activities and the grounds where they can go for a physical walk activity. They had a veterans' kind of setup for any of the veterans where they can sit and talk about their experiences with each other and voice issues that they had, and kind of feel camaraderie among the guys, and then they had crafts and clothing for the women. The staff was very friendly, and they were more than willing to answer any of my questions. My dad's a vet, so they gave me information about getting veteran's help as well. They were very helpful, typically for the full tour of the entire place, and they showed me what their meal schedules looked like and things like that. It was a smaller facility, but within itself I would say that it was very well run and organized. It has very clean and adequate-sized rooms. Everybody seemed very friendly, and I actually got to meet some of the people who lived there; they seemed very pleasant and very happy to be there.

Summer Oaks is not very far from my house. I know a lady who lives there in her little apartment that has a little living room, a small kitchen area, her bedroom and bath and I just think it is nice. Summer Oaks is new, clean, pretty and attractive. The walls are decorated and when you enter, there's a front porch that kind of reminds you that you're going in your home. They have a bus that takes them places. I really like the place.
