West Hills Health and Rehab is not pretty. It's an old building, but the staff is amazing. She has not gotten this good care anywhere, including the hospital. The food is good. She can open the windows in her room when the weather is nice. They have activities posted. They go out once a month and they play bingo and do sing-alongs.

This facility is struggling to provide proper care. Personal items disappear from my friends’ room and Amazon deliveries are “lost” or stolen. Requests are ignored or forgotten. This is unacceptable. Think twice before placing anyone you love here.

My father has been a patient in the rehab center multiple times over the last several years -- enough for me to have a lot of experience as his family support member. My first impression was the building is old and the interior decorating is less than appealing. but the rooms are spacious and have big windows, so my father is happy. We go back because the expertise and care by the rehab and nursing staff has been very good and well-suited to my feeble father's needs. The fancier places in West Knoxville were not able to meet his needs as well as West Hills. The food is adequate and has improved over time. I have always had excellent communication with staff members and been treated with respect. It's not a fancy place, but the rehab care is very good. My father is cared for like he was family and that matters a great deal to him. I have and will continue to recommend West Hills to those looking for rehab care.

We visited Shannondale. The rooms and common areas were very nice, but it appeared a little sterile for my mom. They only have private rooms. The staff was condescending and downplayed interest in mother coming to their facility.

My mom has been getting excellent care up to this point at West Hills and absolutely no harm or problems so far. She has been there for rehab because she suffered a fall. She has a single room and it's spacious.

This nursing home was very appealing "from the curb." The facility was very pretty and had nice landscaping. The only exterior problem was a need for a paint job. The entrance was not too flashy, but offered enough room for multiple people to pass at once with ease. The staff was very friendly at first, but then started to get slightly aggravated at my party as time elapsed. I can say that they "appeared" to be friendly to the residents, but I can not prove wether it was a put-on or not. The rooms were nice and spacious, and the residence as a whole was very comfortable.

Hillcrest Healthcare West is one of the older nursing homes in the Knoxville area. The residents all seem to be taken care of pretty well considering the fact that the nursing staff has a very high turnover rate. I noticed that a lot of the nurses are from a staffing agency and several residents said they hate to get attached to any of the nurses, as they seem to leave fairly quickly.
