I spoke with the owner of Maple Cottage Assisted Living and he didn't seem to be very adaptable to what I wanted. I did not like how the residents do not have an outside place to go. From the way he acted, the only time they get to go outside is if they're having a visit with a family member. The rooms were kinda small, too, but the staff was right there with them. If you live in Hendersonville, in that area, and you can stop by and take your parents out, it would be my selection. I would like my dad to get more exercise but they don't have any place to really exercise. However, if you're going there every day, it would be perfect. Maple Cottage Assisted Living is very homey, and the residents are very clean, content, and high-functioning, too. They were actually carrying on conversations, they looked really happy, and the staff was super nice. They seemed completely engrossed in everything. They're right there with the patients. It was almost like having a private sitter. The owner said that his son has had a lot of culinary training, so he cooks for them, and they pick up food from nearby restaurants, so that's what they usually eat. However, the hallways were very narrow and short, and there were tables in the living area, so there were no recliners. It was just tight and they needed more room.

I very much liked Maple Cottage. It's family owned and operated. The mother, the father and the two children are all active in running the facility. It's certainly a memory care specialty place. It's very small, and it's like being at home with the family. It was nice and I would've considered it, but it was too small. I wanted it a little bigger so my mother had more room to roam. There was only one open common area in the middle of the facility. Other than that, it's the residents' rooms. The common area was also the lunchroom and the activities were all done in this one room as well. The rooms were relatively small, but very nice. They like to keep the residents busy and it's more of a one-on-one thing, which I really liked, but I was more comfortable with a facility that provided more common areas to be able to roam.

Everything about the building is meticulous. It's so obvious that the staff cares about the residents. Honestly, I've never seen a happier group of seniors as the day I toured Maple Cottage. The location is very convenient, and centered right in the heart of Hendersonville, TN.
