My mom was at American House Hendersonville. We ate there at times, mostly for holidays and family get-togethers. In my experience with the holiday meals, the food was really excellent, but the day-to-day meals not so much. They had the rooms where the residents could decorate it themselves how they wanted. They could bring in their own furniture. It was made to be their own living space, so it would feel more comfortable for them. The open common areas were really nice, clean, stylish, and comfortable. They had activities, but I was never present for those other than the family events. But I know they did a lot of community outings and things like that that were really popular with a lot of the residents. The staff was excellent. They love their residents like their own family. They care for them greatly. They bend over backwards if they could do anything they could for them. With regards to the value for the money, they are definitely on the lower end as far as the local options that we had. But financially speaking, it would be hard for anybody to cover that long term.

I visited American House Hendersonville. You walked in and it smelled like poop. It was horrible. All the residents were like zombies. There was no interaction amongst themselves. They didn't smile. The room was very small and dark. The only option they had for my mother was to share a room with someone else and it was very small. The lady who toured us around was very kind and very knowledgeable. It was kind of rundown. I did not like it at all.

American House Hendersonville has a unit that is provisional based on the level of care that the residents need. So as such, they mainly accept people who have cognitive impairment diagnoses and then move on toward needing memory care as they progress. So, that gives me confidence that although there might be a staff rotation, they are well trained and prepared to deal with caring for people with cognitive impairment conditions. I like that they seem to have a focus on providing residents with a lot of social activities. When their social director talked to me, she was very interested in what kinds of things my mom likes to do and the kind of people she would like to meet. They were trying to match her with peers before trying to sell me on placing her in there. I thought that was impressive. They seemed to have a concern for the resident's well-being and that it was more about quality of life. They had a sort of an open kitchenette set up in a little bit of a rotunda. They're a lot smaller. I think they only have 30 residents. So, it's not as big as all of these other facilities, but it seemed adequate. It's clean for the most part. I didn't see anything that raised any concern. I recall it being a little bit smelly, but I'm sure this is just down to some kind of bathing schedule for the residents, which is understandable. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I think that the staff raises my estimation of what is going on there by a lot.

American House Hendersonville was a small community but it was very nice. Everybody was very helpful. The staff who gave us the tour was very helpful and very knowledgeable. The 1-bedroom apartment and the studio rooms were a little small, and they preferred that you furnish everything yourself. The outside was very nicely groomed and very well taken care of. The inside was very secure, very clean, and nice looking.

We visited American House Hendersonville and a person greeted us there. We went to the office, sat down, and she went over all the details as far as the layouts of the memory care rooms, whether it's a private room or two rooms with a shared bath versus a private room with a private bath. She gave us a tour of the public areas like the dining room and areas where they have TV, recreation, and activities, and then the outdoor space, which had a lovely patio. Then we met some of the other members of the staff like the nursing staff and attendants. We were also given tours of a couple of the rooms that were open and available. She gave us a timeline of when we would need that situation and how long it would take to be able to get in that type of thing. She went over the paperwork and just gave an idea of how much it costs. So, the facility was very good. We liked it very much, and the person we spoke with was very friendly and very welcoming. No complaints at all.

The tour we had at American House Hendersonville was very informative. They answered all of our questions and we left with a good feeling. They gave us the information we needed, took their time, and gave us everything that we asked for. It had a very homey feeling, which we liked a lot, but it was a little stuffy and a little warm there.

My mom is a resident of American House Hendersonville. It's reassuring, homey, and personal. The place is clean and professional. My experience there was short. I chose this place because I felt comfortable with the people in the front office. My mom likes the food and that says a lot. She would be quick to complain, but she said she likes it, and she likes their coffee, too.

I visited for my mom. I went to both assisted living and memory care. I really liked the staff, they were caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable. The rooms were small, pretty small. They have a nice garden area, and an outdoor area that residents can go to. They have meeting areas, a private dining room for family visits, and place to play games. It looked clean to me. There's a market where you can get stuff. The hospitals are on the other side of town. It's not a huge town.

It was a nice facility. The person we met with was very informative, compassionate, and helpful. They were doing some group exercise games when we were there. The room we saw was extremely small but very well laid-out.

The food is average for this type of facility, but it seems pretty good. They have a memory care unit which will be needed in the future for my mother, so that was one of the bigger reasons we chose it. The bathroom door is nice and wide. The shower is floor level, so you can get right in it. The hallways are lined with handle bars, and its all one level-- one floor. They have a monthly calendar for their activities.

Everything was nice except for the group activities. The area was very dark and small, and there were no windows. There should have been more separation of levels, with the progression of the disease. I just didn’t want to put my mother in there because I felt she needed to be with people in her condition as opposed to people who were not responsive. The rest of the facility looked very nice.

My father passed away last week at this facility. The nurses and support staff were absolutely wonderful! He was in the Memory Care unit for a few months and could not have been better cared for. They treated him with respect and dignity, gave our family encouragement and hugs, as needed. It is difficult enough to go through this painful time, but their care and concern made it a lot easier.

It was nice. They gave me a tour of the building and the layout. The rooms were very nice and spacious. The location is the best thing about this place. I would recommend them to others.
