My mother moved into The Lantern at Morning Pointe of Chattanooga. The biggest reason we went there is it was just more convenient for me and my brother to see her. It's between us, and it's on our way to places, so it's easy for us to stop in and see her. It didn't have a nursing home feel to it, had more of an apartment or nice hotel feel. The staff members were all good. From what I've seen with interacting with my mom and interacting with me, they've been great. I've talked to them almost every day since she's moved in, calling me with: "She's got this going on. Can we do this?", and just keeping in touch with me of what's going on. The food is good. I ate dinner with her the other night, and it was good. The facilities are wonderful. They just opened back up after a tornado went through and tore it up. So it's pretty much brand new, but it's nice. The upkeep was nice. The maintenance guy was great, I've met him. The rooms, even the small rooms, were just nice. The bathrooms are big. It has stuff like benches and showers. There were no steps or anything that they could trip on. It was a nice facility. They have the halls color-coded for them and little shadow boxes outside of the room, and we can put pictures of them in there. There was a physical therapy area, hair salon, ice cream parlor, and dining room. There was like a sensory room. If they get agitated, they can take them to this room and kind of calm down. There was a block of old-timey kitchen set up where they can go and play. There's an activities area and what I call the great room, kind of where they all gather and watch TV or do activities and stuff.

My FIL was a resident for several years. We were self-paying, too. Initially, the care was excellent. They had several management changes, and suddenly, it was terrible. It's a very long, horrible story of what happened to my FIL and us. I do not recommend this facility to anyone. His room was never cleaned and smelled terrible, to the point it felt like neglect. We would learn that all of the behavior problems they claimed he had were because of their approach. I hate to think of what it must have been like for him to live there. His new facility had no issues with him, and they tailored their approach to his needs. There's so much more we could say negatively about this place...if you have another option to send your loved one... I would send them literally anywhere but here.

My mother was at The Lantern at Morning Pointe. It's a wonderful place, and I hope she can go back. It was not their fault that she couldn't stay. She just needed to be calmed. She was just too agitated to be there. It's a wonderful place that I would probably recommend. The staff members are wonderful, caring, and committed. She was in a single-person studio room. It's a brand new facility. They had a common room and a courtyard.

Upon visiting this facility, I found it to be very up to date and the staff very professional. My great grandmother was in this facility until we had to move her in with us. She and several of the other residents were always going on outtings. Upon visiting with her and several of her friends that she had made, I kept a watch on how frequently they were changed. The patients that I saw were changed promptly, with no issues. Everyone was out and about and all the residents I know absolutely loved this facility.I give this facility my highest recommendations for the area.
