My husband has moved into Shem Creek Health Center at South Bay at Mount Pleasant. It's absolutely lovely. I would recommend it. It's a very lovely facility. It's clean and it's neat. The staff is kind. I don't have any complaints about the care that my husband is getting there. The staff members are all well trained. Each individual is assessed based on their capabilities on what they can do, and each care program for the dementia patient is managed individually. For memory care, I haven't seen many activities because they are in a state of decline. But they offer music, puzzles and games and things like that. I think the activities and the engagement that they offer the community are fine for the level that they are in for memory care. I checked about eight facilities in my community, and this one was the nicest and the cleanest of them all. I've been very pleased. However, with regards to the staff, turnover is there, but they are trying to engage everybody. And the value for money is there, too. I would recommend it to anybody, and I have.

My husband and I are staying at Shem Creek Health Center in Mt. Pleasant. We chose it because it's a place where my husband can receive memory care, and at the same time I can receive rehab from an accident. He's receiving great care, he has an opportunity for socializing, and the food is good. The staff members are very good and friendly, too. I just think there should be more activities for him to do. After all, he's in memory care. The building that he is in is new, and it is conveniently close to the center of the town of Mt. Pleasant.
