My husband is in Brookdale West Ashley, and it appears to be wonderful. Everyone seemed very nice, very clean, very efficient, and very responsive. I have no complaints whatsoever. Right now, you have to call and make an appointment when visiting, and meet them outside on the porch. He has a nice, big room. It's adequate, with a nice little kitchenette, and nice little table. I took his big bed and his recliner in his place, and it all fits in, with lots of extra room. It's like a studio apartment. They also go on trips, play bingo and other games, watch movies, and they have available therapy there.

I toured Brookdale West Ashley. The staff was wonderful. I might have considered it if it had been located on this side of town. They showed me a studio. It was tiny, and it's not much more than what they cost. The sales manager, Melissa was nice, and I like the place.

Brookdale West Ashley is a real nice place. They've got a variety of room sizes and all. Food is good and its quality is excellent. They served me cod, gravy, and mixed vegetables, which were carrots and peas. They got a variety of amenities and they're all good ones. It is well kept up. Cleanliness is excellent. The lady I met was also excellent.

The thing I liked about Brookdale West Ashley was the size of the facility and the available nurses. The staff was very attentive to the residents. The rooms were very large and clean. They were very adaptable to the residents. It was very homey. Everybody was happy, moving around and busy. When I went there, they didn't have any activity going on, but the residents were moving around. They were glad to see me. They were talking. They were just at peace with themselves. The way they were located was right around the corner from a lot of different shopping areas. There was a strip mall not too far from it. The area was very nice, not too far away from anything. They showed me the food menu and the activity menu. They had something planned every day and the residents could see what was being fed to them every day and what activity they had planned for the upcoming weeks. Everything was already published. The dining area was quaint. It wasn't a big place, but it was big enough for the residents they had there. They told me the schedule and how they run the breakfast menu for the different residents. I didn't see too many amenities, but they said they do hair for the ladies and they had barber for the men. Everything was clean.

Brookdale West Ashley was nice and clean, but it was just a smaller and older facility. The rooms did not seem as spacious, but it was fine. The people seemed very caring and very, very pleasant. The staff who assisted us during the tour was a nice lady.

Brookdale West Ashley was great. It had a very nice layout and the people were very welcoming. Kimberly showed us a room that no one lives in (we couldn't go to others because individuals were in their rooms) and the size was fine for one person. She did good. She was very pleasant, very nice, and very informative.

I had a very good tour experience at Brookdale West Ashley. The staff seemed very professional, very kind, and courteous. The facility looked good and clean and it was certainly an acceptable place for my dad to stay. I liked it a lot. The rooms were nice and adequate. They had different-sized rooms. Julia certainly did a great job.

We saw all three levels of Brookdale West Ashley. It is an old building. It is darker and smaller. The building was in need of repairs and refurbishment. The staff I met with seemed good. They had a salon, a full activity calendar, physical and occupational therapy, and a workout room. I think they were comparable.

I went to Brookdale West Ashley. The tour was very well done and the facility was excellent. The staff was very good, informative, and very polite. The rooms were nice. I didn't particularly care for their layout, though I wouldn't be living there myself. They were clean. I think one was under remodel at the time, but it had very good potential. The dining area seemed nice. I did not sample any meals and none was offered to us, and I particularly wasn't all that interested in getting something. They had movie nights and some activities available to clients.

I was impressed with Brookdale West Ashley. The memory care section was very clean. The people seemed to be relatively happy. The apartments were sufficient and seemed very clean too. It was very nice. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and very, very nice as well. They had bird feeders, benches, and a lot of plants. It was very comfortable and had a very nice outdoor area. They had menus that had several different choices. The people got to choose, and the food sounded very tasty.

We were very impressed with Brookdale West Ashley. The only drawback was that I enjoyed the assisted living more than the memory part of it, and I realized they're connected. I just felt that they isolated them more in the memory part, maybe that's what they felt they had to do. The staff was very friendly, and very helpful, and certainly gave us a wonderful tour all through both parts. I felt that the rooms were not as available, and they were unfurnished. We walked through the amenities, but it was more difficult to observe it in the memory part. They had a courtyard. The facility was very clean and very well-established, and the people were very friendly. At that time, they were still eating separately, and only one person at a table, but I'm sure they're more open now than they were before.

My brother moved into Brookdale and it's been pretty good. There were some minor problems, but they are dealing with them. I'm happy because my brother is being served properly. The staff is dedicated, there are people learning and being trained, and I think they're progressing really well. They have a very good director who meets challenges and comes up with good results. My brother has had no problems with the food, and they're very good at keeping things clean.

The thing that attracts me most with Brookdale is the staff. They are very good and caring. They take them on the bus to lunch as a group if they want to go, and sometimes musicians would come in and play. It’s a little bit smaller and older, but it's still a nice facility.

The staff members are all wonderful people who've been extremely helpful. The rooms are very clean and nice. The food is extremely good and well planned out, and they have a very good chef. The dining area is very clean and looks like a restaurant.

I visited and really liked Brookdale because it was a very nice, very friendly, and clean facility. Everything was great. I only have good things to say about it. The staff I met was very friendly, very nice, and very educated. I think the facility needs to have a two-bedroom option, but that’s just my opinion.

Brookdale was very nice and the person who gave us the tour was very helpful. I was impressed with the rooms; they are not very big but they’re of good size. Everything was clean. They were doing some kind of arts and crafts when I visited the place. It was comfortable and kind of made me feel at home.

Brookdale was very nice, everybody was very friendly, and it looked like they had a lot of activities. They have an activity board to tell you what?s going on, they had a little crafts, painting, and chair exercises. It was a good experience.

Everything was great when we visited Brookdale Charleston. Their rooms are of good size and clean, but they didn’t have a kitchen in there. I have eaten there, and the food is very good. Their dining area is beautiful. The managers were excellent. They have all kinds of things like movies, games, and bingo -- tons of things to do.

Horizon Bay Charleston was a nice place. They have a dining facility. It is a big place. The rooms were OK, but a bit small. I am looking for five years down the road. I wasn't looking to move in immediately. They have a lot of game rooms, television, and sing-a-longs. I recommend they go around and look at them.

We actually have my mother's name on the waiting list at Horizon Bay. I thought it was nice enough. I liked the arrangement of the Alzheimer's unit where everything was kind of centrally located. The rooms were kind of in a circle and they all opened up into a central common area and I thought that was very good. I liked the fact that the rates were consistent; they didn't have different levels of costs depending on the amount of care. They offered one rate and it included all levels of care. It did not go up if they had to do a little something extra for the patient. I thought the rates were reasonable and it was more centrally located to my home than some of the other ones. I thought that they had a nice little garden area that was left open on nice days. My mom's a really outdoorsy person and I thought that she would like the fact that on a nice day, she could just walk out and be outside. I thought that was really nice and you can do gardening if you like. She is not a gardener, but she does like flowers and plants and things like that.

Horizon Bay was very nice, but they did not have a room available. The staff was very nice, helpful, and informative. The rooms were a bit smaller, though. They have a memory care facility, which was what I wanted.

I visited Horizon Bay. We didn't choose this one because it was farther away from us to visit for one thing and then we have to cross some major bridge, so if there was a storm or something, that might be a problem. The place and their rooms were fine. Overall, the facility was probably recommendable. Regarding the staff, I didn't really get to know them that well.

Horizon Bay is a very nice facility. My mom has been there since end of April. They have different levels of care and she's in the memory care area. She loves the staff and they all love her. Her room is a bit bigger, but it is still nice. The facility doesn't smell bad and that was the first thing that attracted us.

My mother stayed at Horizon Bay in Charleston. She was in the Clare Bridge Wing which was the memory center of the facility. I liked the facility because the patient ratio was good, the residents were well monitored. The staff also kept the residents active. I observed though that the residents don't get enough fluid, so I would suggest they offer more. The food was very nutritious and well-balanced. There were semi-private and private rooms complete with bathroom. They had good recreational program, and a diocese also came to the facility.

Some of the patients seem to have to wait longer than usual in order to receive necessary help. Althought the facility was clean, the staff was not always as friendly as they should have been. I did like both facilities though because a beautician would come in to beautify the women residents.

I thought the facility was very clean and well structured, but some of the staff were a little slack. Sometimes they would "nudge" the older folks along to get them to go faster or get upset when the older folks got confused.
