My mom was there for rehab before and after a heart procedure. We knew about the facility because my dad spent some time there last year and the staff was great with him.. For my mom, the staff was very good with her and she was very happy with the treatment she received from Derek and Troy on a daily basis and would have taken both of them home with her if she could. I also cannot say enough about Katie the nurse manager. She and I spoke many times by phone or text when there were things that needed to be done or if I had questions about things and she took care of it. I would recommend this facility to anyone.

The Pines at Philadelphia My mother arrived at The Pines at 96 years old due to a fractured femur from a fall. When I arrived, the first person I encountered at the desk was Rose. She is someone who communicates well and takes the time to answer all your questions. The next staff member I met was Katie, she is one of the nurses and kept me updated on my Mother’s progress. Geanine is the social worker and she provided helpful information. The staff is very pleasant and friendly, anyone that I passed in the hallway always greeted me. My Mother also commented to me that if you have to be in any rehab, this is the place to be. Derek was my Mom’s therapy coach, and he was incredibly good with her. Not many people make it back at 96 with a fall and broken bones, we were fortunate to be at The Pines.

My sister was sent to The Pines for rehabilitation. Since this was during the covid pandemic I was not able to visit her. I was however keep completely apprised of my sisters progress thanks to Tanya (social worker) and Alexis (nursing supervisor). When my sister was released, both Tonya and Alexis provided me with comprehensive information regarding how followup care would be provided to her. Both women were compassionate and friendly and thoroughly answered all of my questions. If I am ever in need of rehabilitation I would feel confident going to The Pines and being cared for by such compassionate and sincere women such as Tanya and Alexis and the rest of the staff who took such good care of my sister.

This was one of my most horrific experiences. My husband was transferred there from the hospital. He is a double amputee, who has had a kidney transplant. He cannot move himself right now. I had not been to the facility during the 3 previous day's he was there. I fell down a flight of steps and braced my fall with my right arm where my rotator cuff and labrum are torn. My daughters were there for me, because my pain was unbearable. The girls told me to get my husband out of there, but he did not want to leave, because he said he wanted to get the therapy. I just got home. The place needs to be reported to the state. We asked for him to be transferred into his wheelchair. The CNA told me she was the only one working and couldn't put him in the wheelchair. I said what does he do if he has to go to the bathroom. She said I put a diaper on him he can go in that or on a bedpan if I can get to him in time. I said oh really he's out of here. The only nurse that seem to be on duty did apologize and tell me that the CNA was lying. She said there were two CNAs that were one with this CNA that could have helped. I was asked by two other patients families if I knew how to get them out of bed because no one would help them. There was a nurse there who pulled me out in the hallway and told me that Fred had had a fever. Next a doctor comes in to tell me that Fred had a fever today of 99.1. Mind you I had been there for 3 hours before she told me. Fred's normal body temperature is 97.8. Now he is neutropenic and just got out of a hospital with bacterial pneumonia, and needless to say he's a kidney transplant patient with no immune system. The nurse then pulls me back out in the hallway to tell me that he had a fever earlier today of 100.7. She told me there was no doctor present for her to even get Fred an order for Tylenol. I asked her WHY she did not feel it was necessary to call me or the doctor. He slides down in the bed due to having no legs. He couldn't even sit up to eat. It was a pathetic site when I walked in. He was stuck towards the bottom of the bed and called for a nurse for 40 min. He was previously stuck in the bathroom for up to 45 minutes. He is a fall risk having no legs. That same nurse said to me in so many words that c-diff was present right next door to Fred. Not one nurse or CNA washed their hands when they walked into Fred's room. I then found out he was not getting the correct amount of his immunosuppressive medication to prevent rejection of the kidney. Yes I went over all meds with them the day he got there and he had discharge notes from the hospital. Because he could not move unless one of us were present, my husband now has skin breakdown. Do NOT allow a loved one to go here. It is a BAD EXCUSE for a nursing home. It surely is not a rehab facility. Please FEEL FREE to contact me if you had a bad experience. My sister is a risk manager at a major university hospital and has pointed me in the right direction to file complaints. Something has to be done before someone dies. The smell alone in there one Wednesday was that of c-diff and it was horrible. Which even funnier or sad I should say is there's a note at the desk that there are patients who have a stomach virus so they are limiting visitation to certain floors or rooms. When you walk past the door and see a big red stop sign you know that there is a contagious illness. Please do not leave a loved one here. Ps you can't participate in an activity if the staff won't help you into a wheelchair.

I am very happy staying at the Pines. I have stayed here two times in the past 3 months. Therapy, medical, and kitchen staff are excellent. I highly recommend The Pines at Philadelphia to anyone who is considering staying here.

An emotional nightmare . No communication . No compassion at all for patients . Not equipped to handle elderly . Executive staff understaffed .. Nurses aides from outside agency no vested interest in patients or facility . Something systemically wrong with the facility . Nurses do not properly input meds into computer causing loved ones to be in unnecessary pain.

The Angela Jane Pavilion may have a nice looking rehab center & clean looking facility. But as the saying goes, Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. This is a typical nursing home. The in-house living care in this place is a JOKE! The aids, nurses (read: LPNs, the RNs have very little to no patient interactions!) and very few RNs are actually staffed, doctors (read: doctors who treat based on a patient’s chart, rather than walking room to room and physically looking at the patient) and the rest of the staff are very rude. Long patient waiting times when call bells are rung, do to short staffing. The 11pm-7am staff is extremely rude when a patient asks for help. How do I know this, I had to spend every night with my mother while she was there for 4 weeks. The staff will be all smiles and friendly when family is present. Once family leaves the staff changes their tune. DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT send a loved one here!
