My mom is staying at Statesman Health and Rehabilitation Center. She is doing great there. She was at another place, she lost about 25 pounds, and she wasn't happy at all. So now she's actually thriving at the Statesman. My mom is in a two-person room. It's more like a nursing home setting. The staff are all very friendly. They have the dining room. Somebody comes in and does their hair, they have an activity room, and they have like a TV room. Also they have a room where they do the rehab. I'm happy for the place. They're good people there.

I went to Statesman Health & Rehabilitation Center. It seemed like a good place. The medicaid.gov rating system gives it three stars. In general, I found that of all the places I visited my impressions tend to match their ratings. In other words, if it looked horrible, they would give it one star. If it looked terrific, they'd give it five. This was a three, and in terms of its facilities, it seemed good. It seemed clean and organized. The staff seemed to be engaged, and unlike other places, they thought that the odds were good, that we would be able to get my brother in there and have a bed for him. And we think that is working out. I don't have a 100 percent experience with the place yet because he hasn't really been there. He has memory issues, so I think he'll be able to adjust, but he may not like the change. But we'll see how it works out. But I had a fairly positive impression of the place. The rooms are shared. I think all of their Medicaid-eligible rooms are two people to a room. It's not very spacious, but again, things were clean. A lot of these places smell bad, and a lot of them have kind of slightly chaotic conditions. This one did not. You try to talk to the residents as much as you can when you tour these places. They seemed happy.
