I am/was a resident of this facility

I am a current resident here at Langhorne and have been here approximately 10 months. If you want to know what a place is really like, ASK A RESIDENT!!! I give this place a rating of one star. Twice this week I was served meals on a tray that somehow the juice was knocked over. The tray and napkins and sugar was soaked. When you picked the silverware up, the juice was dripping off the silverware. The first time the aide knew it was like that and served it to me anyway. Once I was able to sit up in bed and seen the mess, I called her back in and told her to get me a new tray and meal. She said she KNEW SHE SHOULD HAVE DONE THAT TO BEGIN WITH.....BUT......SHE DIDN'T!!!!! That shows there are staff here that DON'T CARE. This morning they served french toast with no syrup. This is on top of a tray that was SOAKED from the juice that was knocked over before they brought my tray in. That led to an argument between me and the assistant to the director of nursing who said " she didn't have time for this ", when I told her that I was paying over $1000 each month out of my own pocket towards my bill. That's when she told me she didn't have time " for this ". When she said that, I told her not to come in here and ask me " what's wrong ? " At that point I told her to get out of the room. Let me be clear when I tell you there were / are MORE SERIOUS issues and problems with this place and some of the staff. I had to have my left leg amputated above the knee. I was a diabetic and didn't know it. Part of my treatment was / is that my wound where they amputated was to be cleaned EVERY DAY. THAT HAS NOT HAPPENED. Those were instructions from my surgeon to the staff here. This place / staff was also told by THEIR OWN WOUND CARE DOCTOR TO CLEAN AND PUT NEW BANDAGES ON EVERY DAY. I told the wound care doctor they WERE NOT DOING THAT..... AND THAT I was in a constant battle with them to do it. He even seen where the same bandage that he had out on the week before, was the same one that was still on me and had not been cleaned or changed. Their wound care doctor comes once a week. This has been a problem with the healing of my leg where it was amputated. They can take 40 minutes or more to answer a call bell / light when you call for them. My afternoon aide yesterday, took 50 minutes to respond. What if it's an emergency???? I am going to post more reviews ) updates. Think VERY CAREFULLY, IF YOU WANT TO SEND A LOVED ONE HERE IS MY OPINION / RECOMMENDATION. //// Joseph

This is the worst place ever. Please do not send your parents here for rehab. My dad went after a hospital stay for rehab. The cost is $468 per day... he was able to walk on his own when he went in. He’s not capable of sitting up on his own now they did absolutely no rehab and didn’t even bother to help him change his clothes or shower, not even once in 20 days, there was no heat in his room and they didn’t even get a lousy blanket for him. The entire place smells like a subway. This place should be closed down by the state. The staff is confrontational at best. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR PARENTS HERE.

Please stay far away from Langhorne Gardens Nursing Home. If you love your family member DO NOT place them in this disgusting, poorly managed, and uncompassionate place. My aunt was there for six (6) days, T-S; she was taken out and had to go to a hospital due to her debilitating condition. Only six days in there and she was discharged with bed, feet, and back sores. She did not have them when she entered. Even worse she was severely dehydrated and required immediate hospitalization. She entered with just a sprained wrist, had mobility, and could care for herself. She left in a wheelchair unable to walk due to a lack of strength and unable to care for herself. I wouldn't wish the 'care' she received on a dog! Tried to take her out of there on the fifth day, but the family was threatened with loss of insurance coverage if taken without a doctor's signature. She was discharged the following day (M) without her dentures because they lost them, and had to be hospitalized with near-fatal dehydration. STAY AWAY! Harrisburg and authorities will be hearing from us.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Arrived to facility and directed to room. First thing I noted was broken tv. Sat three hours and only contact was them bringing dinner into room. Salad with chicken pieces that were slimy and smelled rotten. I went into bathroom and the sink was crusty with dirt with hairs on sink and floor. Wall by toilet looked like it had fecal spray still on it and never washed. The place was disgusting!

Care nurses, supervisor and charge nurses have been wonderful on the 200 unit. Very caring and friendly to residents. They talk to the residents, compliment them and go the extra mile. Very pleased with care

I can only WARN others to avoid this nursing home if possible. The lack of care and compassion is beyond description. Its all about money and the commodity not the residents. Turnover excessive; call outs excessive; and nurses normally will not assist aides when short although they are included in the staff requirements to the state to meet regulations. They are only there do meds. There have been cleanliness and laundry issues. Since new owners took over, supplies have been replaced with cheaper inferior versions. Staff Attitudes and morale very poor. I had no choice but to look for another facility.

I am a friend or relative of resident

From the first time I met with the staff, I felt a warm and professional vibe from Langhorne Gardens, (herinafter, LG). We were in a real bind - needed a place for my in laws because their assets were rapidly becoming depleted. Both have advanced dementia, and very few places will accept 2 people in one room at one time. I was told things like, "One year waiting list" from a lot of the other places we looked at. Although my father in law went in through the hospital after he fell, LG allowed my mother in law to move in 2 weeks later. When I compare LG to the private pay facility where they had been living for the past 2 years, it's shocking. The staff at LG take the time to speak to every resident that they pass. They know them by name, they treat them respectfully, and they act like professionals. In our experience at the 'other' place, located in Newtown, staff would avoid resident's eyes, never set up a line of communication for families - I could go on. At LG, i we have a question, we email the Social Services office and they respond! The activities directors are friendly and outgoing and, although it's only been 2 weeks, we are very happy with LG.

Please do not bring your loved one here. The in house doctor provides medications that are not on your family doctors list without your approval. XANAX and Zoloft for people in their late 80's are their favorite. I call it the house of medication. I immediately had my family member taken off this ridiculous prescription. She is way more alert. This place needs to be shutdown out once!
