My mother is in Heartwood Place Memory Care. Excellent appearance of the facility, and the people have been outstanding to deal with, everybody from the sales representative to the manager. We talked to all the nurses and the staff, and they've just been outstanding. But, she's only been there a few days, and she got to the hospital, but so far the process of getting her signed and everything has been excellent. They're almost a brand-new facility, very nice looking. They've just been excellent to work with. They're very positive and would answer all your questions.

I've reserved a place for my relative at Heartwood Place. I give the layout a high rating because they differentiate on the dementia decline because are not all residents are on the same timeline deterioration, (some are worse than others) and she is at a higher point. I didn't want her to move straight down into the lower deterioration until she was ready to do that. It's probably six months or so a year before that happens. I wanted her to have a high quality of life (as far as activities and social interaction) until the cognitive decline kept her from doing that. I did not want her to feel warehoused. They have activity rooms, courtyards, and a bus that takes the residents out. The semi private rooms were a good size, even though they were semi private. They don't have that 'pretend' dividing wall. It's an actual dividing wall between the sleeping areas, and the only part that's shared is the bathroom. They were strictly following the COVID protocols, which I thought was really good. They weren't bending the protocols. They were even talking about having a fire drill that afternoon. It's routine for them to do fire drills, so they take those seriously. I hadn't run into that either. She has been a little hesitant about going to a memory place, but she was positive at this place. It was the first place where she was comfortably interacting when they did the evaluation and assessment. She was responding positively to the environment.
