My mother has moved here. She's in memory care and confused, but she seems OK. They're really good there. I like them so far. I like the fact that memory care integrates with retirement living. I like the fact that they do cooking classes with them. She goes to exercise with them. They integrate the community. I think that's a much better way to do it than just keeping memory care in memory care. The staff is great. They seem very attentive and they communicate with me constantly. They're always willing to help find the answer if they don't have it off the top of their head. The food is really good. She needs to have a softer diet, and they let her take as long as she wants to sit and eat. I think that's almost as important as the food. She can sit there for an hour and look out the window and eat her dinner if that's what she wants to do. She goes out and feeds the feral cat, which she loves. She goes to exercise class, she does the arts and crafts stuff, they take them out for a walk, they'll put them on the bus and take them to field trips or out for lunch, and then integrate it again, with more staff on the bus. There are retirement-living folks that like to do that with memory care. This is the third memory care she's been in, and the money has been pretty much the same.

I toured Silver Creek Senior Living. It was very, very nice, but they had very limited Medicaid apartment availability. The tour was really good. The community looked like it had a great atmosphere, and there were lots of activities and things to keep people busy. The staff who gave the tour was amazing. Super nice. She was ready for me and called me by name as soon as I walked in. She gave me literature, too. The apartments were very beautiful, friendly, and comfortable. Everything was accessible. The dining area looked really good, too. There were a lot of people eating at that time, and they all seemed to be very jovial. I noticed that they had a movie room, an activity room, a game room, and an area where people were doing jigsaw puzzles and card games and stuff like that.

I was very impressed with them. It was clean. The manager gave me a tour, and she knew every individual that lives there by their first name and what activities they were involved in. They were getting ready to serve lunch as my tour was finishing up, and the food smelled and looked good. They all had full plates of food in front of them; there were generous servings. I was very impressed with the place. The room that I looked at was empty. Either each unit has its own bathroom or it's a Jack-and-Jill bathroom shared by only two residents as opposed to a group bathroom. I thought that was nice; there's better privacy. It sounded like they had a lot of activities. They do crafts, and they take the people who are able out on community outings like to the local swimming pool. The common areas were clean and well-appointed. I was told that they have a beauty parlor on the second floor with an elevator for access. The facilities were very good.

I have chosen them for my husband because it felt more family-oriented and warmer. The staff that we talked to and the others that were there were very caring. They all seemed to really care about the clients. They had so many activities ongoing, and it looked like they really encouraged the residents to participate. They had scheduled outings, and they let the patients pick what their outings were going to be. It just seemed very homey. I have not tried the food, but I saw the menus. It was all homecooked. The other four that I visited had alert systems, but they were the pull-the-chain type. It was in a couple of rooms. However, this place has a monitoring, where it's with them all the time. I thought that was really a good feature. They had good walk-in showers. They had kitchenette type places, so it was very nice.
