Great Home with a caring staff - they cared for my best friend's mother while she recouped from a major surgery - His Mother loved the attention they gave her - and said the Food wasn't bad!

Please do not ever put anyone you love in this place! My mother was denied proper medical care on numerous occasions. Their "house doctor" is only in on the weekends and any medical issues aren't addressed until he gets to them. They Don't "have time" to change soiled patients or give medicine on time but every time you pull up to the place they always have several aides outside smoking with residents. When other Drs have medical concerns they will not even transport to the hospital as requested, nor by family request. My mother's oncologist wanted her admitted to the hospital Tuesday morning and the administrator Heather refused. I insisted we follow her oncologist's requests and she still refused. By the time they finally allowed my mother to go to the hospital she was so critically ill that we lost her. All this facility cares about is making the most they can with billing. They have even lied in attempts to cancel important tests so they would not have to pay for them. After my mother passed away I asked for her belongings and they boxed them up and left them outside of their main door! How disgraceful! I would give zero stars if I could!

Altercare is one of the worst facilities I've been in their administrator and DON are both completely rude and worthless. If you want your family memeber taken care of my suggestion would be to go elsewhere. They have a bad habit of double briefing their residents so they don't have to change them as much, they don't clean their faces after eating and they ignore people's call lights.

My mother in law was here for Rehab for about three weeks recently. I have worked as an Activities Asst. in a Nursing home and was trained as a Certified Nurses Aide. I can say that this place has (currently) a very warm and caring staff. The social worker Dawn is superlative and their PT Staff, Jared and Tina are excellent as well. Everyone served her gracefully. She compared the stay here with Meadowview in Seville and felt this was much better, commenting: She knows she got better than average treatment when there (a few yrs. ago, because her own daughter was on staff. Still Altercare really seemed to provide good help. Their follow up has been terrific too with the home care referrals.

do yourself a SERIOUS favor, if you are considering sending a loved one here, absolutely reconsider. When patients ring the buzzer for assistance, whether it be in the bathroom, or if they've fallen out of bed, I mean ANYTHING, be prepared for them to wait at least fifteen minutes before their needs are addressed. This place is understaffed, and most of the staff they have there are rude and not helpful. I can't believe this place hasn't been shut down. This place is operating under a guise of patient care and respect, that is a serious farce. A family member was staying here, and she was treated almost as an invisible person, only relevant when needed to make the patient files seem like she was being cared for. Do NOT send someone you love here.

I was brought here in September of 2014 for rehab after a very severe motorcycle accident that should have killed me. In fact, I'm still here now. Just as previous reviews have stated, this facility is incredibly Understaffed. The poor woman that work here, have no chance of keeping up with the work load. I've waited over 30 minutes for help with things that could have been an emergency. And again.......as stated in previous reviews, the administration in charge of Altercare, is the most rude, and unprofessional group I have ever come across in my life. The actual "administrator" got upset with me for not taking meds i didnt want to take. So she walked out into the hallway and told everyone, in a very loud voice as she spoke to the social worker, that she wants me out even though im homeless. She said, "Who cares if hes in his car?" "That's where he was at before!" ......Sharing my very personal information with just about EVERYONE, out of complete anger. Can you think of anything more unprofessional then that? There was other things of course, but you should get the point. This place puts on a smile when they need to, but very much corrupt behind the curtains. If anything else, I hope this review supports the previous reviews about this place. ........BEWARE!!

Very compassionate caregivers, STNA and nurses, however administration is a waste of time and a joke. Always says shell do something about the concerns brought to hand, yet never does. I overheard one day people in administration bad mouthing another residents family concerns. Totally disgusting. It s to bad this place is ran by ruthless people because they have really good staff on the floor.

My father-in-law was a resident here for ten years (until Nov '11). He was fortunate to have his mental faculties intact and needed only simple care (such as assurance of taking his medications). The staff here are very friendly and as compassionate as they can be considering how overworked they are by the facility. Altercare follows the state guidelines of 15 residents per aide, so response time is very poor. The staff does not have any time to go "above and beyond" what is asked for or required. Until I requested it, for example, my FIL's face was not washed after meals (he needed feeding help near the end). It is not unusual to go down the hall and see face after face with food on it from lunch hours before. If you need help getting to the bathroom, odds are very good that you will wait at least 15 minutes or more for help to arrive, so make sure you ask far in advance. The administration is pretty easy to work with, but administrators have a VERY high turnover. I didn't even bother finding out who the new administrator was because they wouldn't be there long. However, the DON and head nurses have been there for a long time and are great to work with, so go directly to them with your concerns. My advice to anyone who needs to make use of a nursing home: allocate plenty of your time to being the resident's advocate because that is the only way to ensure good care!
