I was a resident after hip surgery in 2018 to be able to walk again and then twice after that to regain strength after hospital stays. Now in 2021, my husband is a there for rehab due to a broken arm for rehab. When asked where he wanted to go for therapy, he said "Laurels of Massillon". He seems to be satisfied with his stay there and talks about the various therapists, nurses, etc. that come to interact and help him. The atmosphere at The Laurels is different due to covid regulations than when I was there. They are doing all they can to insure the safety of the residents and staff.

Not a good experience in anyway. Patient was just in for rehab. The physical therapy staff at the time were good, however pushed the patient much harder than he was able to do. They need to LISTEN to the patient. Yes, some will have days and not want to be pushed to get better but they need to know the difference between unwilling and NOT ABLE. Next, the staffing is horrible not enough help. Leaves room for many errors all of which I witnessed. Dr. neglect, wrong diagnosis and prescriptions. Nurses giving wrong meds, overall sense of confusion and lack of professionalism. Patient and families suffer. I would never leave patient alone. Rules violated daily, from meds being given on time to people needing to be changed every two hrs and rolled over from side to side. Etc. The state is a joke also they come in go through protocol and check all the right boxes and problems never get addressed or fixed. The aids I dealt with always did their best . The ones I knew cared and tried hard to be there for patients. Its not wrong to EXPECT and REQUIRE good care and help because they still expect top dollar for way below standard help and care for the elderly, God bless them all.

I’m starting by telling you how appalled I am with the care given to the patient to whom I’m speaking of: First of all horribly understaffed. My major complaint is how unprofessional this place is ran. I witnessed meds being given that were the wrong dosage also med given that should have been discontinued. Meds were also never given on time and I don’t mean by a small margin either. Nurses and dr. communication was at times not understood between the two therefore added confusion to an already difficult situation. Nurses working very long hours come in stressed and making errors. The response times to getting needs met is egregious!! I am still horrified by the time it takes to get pads changed, meds or any other need met. The call button is joke they come in turn it off then leave for another half hr. How is it ever ok to over look MEDS being distributed WRONG not once or twice but almost daily. If not for family being present more times than not Lord knows what would’ve happened. Another thing how is it right to make human beings wait 30 to 40 minutes in their mess( not a random occurrence). No person should get taken care of with this neglect. People need to step up and make a difference. This is all for now but I do have more to say at a later date.

I was at the Laurels of Massillon for Rehabilitation after knee surgery. I found the staff to be courteous, kind and caring; always willing to meet my needs. The Occupational and Physical therapy was outstanding and encouraging. My expectations were thoroughly met. I would also like to add that the heart healthy diet I was on was delicious. I have been to several facilities for past rehab experiences and rank this as one of the best. I would not hesitate coming back here if I needed to do more rehabilitation after another surgery.

The resident rooms are very nice. All of the staff has been very very friendly and helpful and attentive. The Therapy staff is awesome. The patience and positive attitudes of these employees inspires the residents to keep doing better. My Mom is in the rehab wing due to a stroke and our family has been very pleased with the services that she has received and the progress that she has made so far.

The nursing staff is always extremely late with meds and breathing treatments...we have to hunt someone down just to alert them to her meds and treatments..no land line in the room..had to bug to get one put in room..walked in to visit my mother in law and she was half falling off the bed and no staff to be found..i went to look for someone to help and the cleaning women turned her head and walked away from me when i asked for assistance..nobody knows what is going on as far the staff goes..extreme lack of communication .we are looking for a new place..i would not recommend this establishment to anyone..

The Laurels of Massillon was very good, very clean, very modern, up-to-date, and very upscale. It's in a country setting. The ones that showed me around were very pleasant and professional. I did not taste the food, but the dining facility was very nice, and the place was kept very clean. They offered outside activities, and they took them places. The staff was very friendly and very attentive to the needs of the residents.

This has got to be the worst facility ever. My mother has been moved to different rooms without even a phone call to let us know. She goes to the assisted dining room where it is like a zoo, 3 people to help feed 15 residents? What a joke.

My wife is very happy in Laurels of Massillon where services are always excellent. I couldn't have asked for more. She has been there since the last half of July. What I like best is that they have all the facilities available that my wife needs. The rooms are very nice sized. I chose to have her in a semi-private so that she has someone she can converse with. It has proven much more beneficial than when she was in a private room before. There are activities going on for the patients everyday. Food is excellent. Patients can choose from a menu. Meals are extremely well balanced and depending on the individual patient. Many of their patients have special dietary needs and these are all taken into consideration. The entire staff, even the administration, they're all very caring and very outgoing. Overall, this nursing home is just an ideal situation for my wife.

The Laurels in Massillon, Ohio was a pretty nice facility. The staff was very good with my grandma and very kind to all of us that visited. My grandma had a hip replacement due to bone cancer. She was sent there for rehabilitation. They made her feel like she important and they really cared about helping her get better. She ended up getting out of there earlier than expected. The physical therapists were great at keeping us all updated on what was going on with her condition. They also were very helpful by showing up how to help her once she got home. They showed us how to do the exercises with her as well so we knew how to help her with them. The only complaint I have would be that they needed to separate the nursing home side better from the rehab side. There was a few occassions were an elderly lady came into my grandma's room looking for her sister. There obviously wasn't anyone watching the people who really needed a eye on them.
