My brother was a resident just recently for a few years. I believe he received nothing but the best of care possible. The staff who cared for him, seemed to have nothing but good things to say about him. It also meant alot to our family that one of the staff was with him when he took his last breath, when we were not able to.

This place is severely understaffed. The staff was rude and were overly rough on elderly patients (my dad). They were inattentive. I went in one afternoon and found that they (staff) had left my immobile dad, an elderly (90+) man sitting, naked on the toilet for over an hour. Then, when I got the elusive staff member in the room to help dad off of the toilet, she had no TP nor wipes to accommodate the next step in the voiding process. It was apparent that when no one is watching, basic hygiene (wiping) is not routinely performed. Clearly. This presented my dad with a perfectly humiliating and embarrassing (at the least) experience. My dad was unable to feed himself. The staff left food in room, (yay) then picked up cold, uneaten food later (since dad was unable to feed himself) and discarded it leaving him hungry. The staff placed the phone out of reach of my dad so that he could not answer it when we called. I could go on, but, you get the picture. Look, if you really dont want to take care of our most vulnerable humans, our elderly, then, don't take a job with a nursing home/ facility. In essence, basic human care was not implemented at this facility - at least not for my dad. Caregivers had attitude and refused to engage on any level with regards to the shortcomings of this facility and the care afforded by its staff. I removed my dad after only a week of this failed experiment. Do yourself a favor, pay a little more, get a tremendously better care experience. I would not recommend this place for long term nursing care nor for physical therapy.

It's a great place if you don't mind getting baths or sitting for hours in BM.

Heartland didn't have a separate building for residents with Alzheimer's disease. The food was lousy, the staff was not very cooperative, and the rooms were fairly small.

I went to the Heartland Of Kettering facility to visit a frinds mother and was rather suprised. The facility was not at all what i had thought it would be. The facility was well laid out and looked to get regular maintance to the grounds and buildings. The residents all seemed to be in the best of spirit. When meds were handed out the staff was very friendly and took time with each and every resident.I did not see one resident that looked like they were being neglected in any way. The food was very healthy and served fast to insure it was served hot.All of the residents were well groomed.
