My dad moved into Beachwood Commons. If his dialysis hours changed and I needed him transported to dialysis during the day, they would be able to take him to his appointment. I think they might have been a little more affordable. The place is clean. I like the idea that he has his own apartment, and it is more like an apartment versus a hospital. I like that he has his own private bathroom, kitchenette, and sitting area. It was very clean and had no odors. The staff was very helpful, patient, supportive, and friendly. It's close to my house and very convenient for everything. They had services where they moved them in with no charge. The place didn't have furniture, but I liked the idea that I was able to bring my dad's things from home. They moved my dad in and made it very easy. I noticed that all of the residents seemed happy, clean, and well-groomed. They would work with me to figure out where he would be able to stay there.

Beachwood Commons was in a good location. The facility itself was outdated though and needed of a lot of maintenance. Also, my sister was unfortunate to have a room where the toilet continued to run. There was a lot of noise out in the hallway, because there seemed a lot of swapping out furniture and beds. I didn't have much contact with the staff, other than the front desk and the maintenance people, but those I met were friendly.

My uncle is going to be moving to Beachwood Commons. Once he's released from rehab, he'll move there. I'm glad that they will take him. I toured it and they were friendly and accommodating. The price seems like it's going to be affordable. He has a lot of health issues with heart disease and a low salt diet requirement and they're going to be able to accommodate that. His home health aide from VA is going to be able to continue coming which has been of great support to him as well. So far, so good. He's going to be in a one-bedroom and it's handicap accessible. It has a nice size closet for storing up his clothing and also for storage. I love that it has an apartment size refrigerator with a microwave. They have a studio and one-bedroom apartments and I noticed that there are married couples or friends who are sharing suites together. They have an activities coordinator and a chef that prepares the food. I like that everyone is not eating the same meal. There's a variety from the menu. They have a courtyard where you can go out and sit and your visitors can go there with you as well. I saw an exercise room and an area set aside for the residents who use a computer, even though wi-fi is included and basic cable. They have walk-in showers that can accommodate someone who is handicapped. The staff members were very friendly. They greeted us as we were walking through the facility, they greeted us at the door and also greeted us when we were leaving. It was very accessible for those in a wheelchair or walker or rollator. The rooms were pleasing to the eye. The decor was contemporary and updated. I like that they had different rooms like a reading room, a TV room and an arts and crafts room. Things were sectioned off into different rooms, not all in one big room where the activities are being held. I like that they had a beauty parlor that could accommodate cutting of hair, washing of hair for men and women, and also manicure. They had some furniture that needed to be a little updated, and they're mixed in with new furniture.
