My dad moved into Brookstone Terrace of Thomasville just today. It's nice, but the brick building is under renovation. I get a really good gut feeling about the staff. I felt that everyone that I met had a big heart and they cared. I went on my sister's advice. The biggest factors for choosing it were: one, the level of care, then number two, the monthly fees. It was all-inclusive. So, you pay a monthly fee up front. They come with fully furnished bedrooms. They have an outdoor area for the residents and the new facility had a separate room for activities. They take them out on scenic tours, they go to restaurants once a month, and they take them to the library once a month. The dining area was freshly renovated, so it was nice. I walked by the kitchen, and it looked very clean. I looked at the floors and the appliances and it looked very clean. I did not get a look at their sanitation grade, but I would say as clean as it was, it was an A. The stuff that they renovated looked good, but there were a lot of things that were under renovation. Brookstone Terrace of Thomasville is a lot cheaper than the community my dad was in previously.

My parents will be moving into Spring Arbor of Thomasville next Monday. It's close to our home and all the other places we looked at were dirty. This one has more staff to resident ratio than a lot of the places. The staff is very friendly and very attentive. Their food is very good. The rooms are very spacious compared to some of the places we looked at. They have two beds in it and a humongous bathroom. They have a little sitting area, and there's a lot of activities there that they can go and do and they can come and go as they please. I like its location. It's convenient to a lot of things. There's not a lot of traffic where it's at and if they should need memory care later on, they have that right there in the same facility as well. Everything's connected. I've been there several times for scheduled visits and every time, the staff is just as nice and very attentive. I've never seen any other staff members just sitting around doing nothing. They're always actively involved with the residents. The food is very good. They have a large variety and a lot of it is home cooked, and I've tried it several times. The facility is very clean and very roomy. It's a newer facility, everything's up-to-date, and they have a large yard in the back of it for other activities. It's very nice. I was very surprised.

My husband was at Spring Arbor of Thomasville for almost a month. Because of dementia, he was in the memory care unit. He didn't have much freedom there. Unfortunately, the people that were in there with him were much more severe in their disease. However, as far as the way they treated the people, it was wonderful. The place was also clean. They only had either a private room or a shared room, but they were large. The maximum patients they could take there, if everybody is in a shared room, would be 14, and because of that, they can receive excellent one-on-one care. They had activities are at the place and did not go out very often because they couldn't afford to take the residents out anywhere. They had a large area where they could cook if they want to, or they could watch. They had a nice gated courtyard area so that they could go outside anytime they wanted to, plus a raised garden where they could plant different vegetables or fruits. Some of them really enjoyed that. They had activities every single day.
