I visited this facility

I toured Brookdale High Point North Assisted Living. They were very accommodating. The person that we were supposed to meet wasn't there, so someone else had to show us around. They couldn't give us pricing yesterday, but they're going to email that to me. The facility is very nice. They have a lot of activities. It seems like they take care of the patients very well. There were lots of nice things that the patients could do. They have a bistro there. If you need assisted living, I think it's a good community. It's newer and it doesn't need any updating. It looks nice on the inside. It's very pleasant. They have a fish tank with fish in it in the front entryway, which is nice. The rooms are small, but that's just normal for assisted living these days. It was clean and it's not that old.

Brookdale High Point North Assisted Living was very nice. The person that did the tour with us was very nice. Her name was Kat. She answered our questions without any hesitation. We like it. The rooms were nice and clean. The patients or residents that we saw seemed to be happy, we talked to a couple of them and they said that they liked it there. So it was a very good experience. They showed us the beauty shop, barber shop, common areas, and spa where they could get in a spa bath. If they could not get into the shower in their rooms because they had a lip on it, they could just walk right into the spa bath without having to step over that lip. The rooms were clean, one of the rooms had a refrigerator while the others did not. But we're allowed to bring one if we chose to put my parents there. It was all very nice, it was a good experience.

Everything in Brookdale High Point North Assisted Living was clean and good. It was a nice place. They had a library, a beauty salon, an exercise bike at the end of the hall, and gathering places. The staff was busy, but they were very nice and helpful.

I thought Brookdale High Point North was a nice and clean facility. The people that I met in person were very nice. I just think they lacked communication skills. They did an assessment on my friend. Everybody thought it was a very positive assessment, but for some reason they just refused. They just dropped us like a hot potato. I don't know what the situation was there, and I never got anything other than they didn't feel like it was a good fit. I'm sort of in a position of confusion, of not understanding why everything is very positive then all of a sudden they didn't want to talk to us anymore. The staff member was very nice though and they answered any questions that we had concerning the facility. The place also had a nice layout and everything was clean.

Brookdale High Point North was the first place I visited. I fell in love with it from the beginning, but because of my brother's condition, they weren't able to accept him there. They did a wonderful tour, the people were nice, and the facility was nice, but it did not have the cozy feeling I felt in the other place. They had a one-bedroom with a bathroom that was a good size. You can fit a twin or full-size bed. They need a chair, dresser, nightstand, and their bed. The family can come and decorate it the way they want to. It was also very close to me. The staff member was young, but she has been with them for years, and she was very good. They had their places spaced out, and they had a baby center where you can just go and sit.The facility was very nice and clean.

Brookdale High Point North was a lock down, it was kind of old, but as she said, it was built a long time ago, and they were trying to paint, and set down new carpets and stuff. It sounds a little dingy, but the staff is super nice. I want to go back there again to check it out. I thought the dining area was really nice, and setup really good for the people. I think once a week, they take the ones in the lock units out, but they have a lot of activities.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was there and thriving until she started hiding her medication. We told the med-techs and this continued and escalated to the point where they told family to remove her physically and she had to be under doctor's care for evaluation. Even after following their guidelines they refused to do their evaluation beyond 2 weeks which was the 30 day limit, They would not even respond to the case worker from the hospital. Then they refused her based on 'family had plans to move her' which should not be valid case for their accepting her back to the facility which had been paid for the month. By law, we could have placed her there but chose not to...due to their negligence in the medications not being given properly (not left on bedside table) which created this unnecessary upheaval in her life. The management staff had changed 3 times in the short 18 months there...that was the first clue, then the med=tech staff was in constant change of turnover. So sad it could not have worked out better 2017-2018.

Brookdale High Point North kept going up in price every year, but I talked to them and they finally reduced the price back to what it was and they're going to reimburse me for the last four months. They're absolutely wonderful and have always taken care of my mom. There's nobody better that I've seen, and I've been everywhere interviewing people. They are very good at taking care of her. They haven't missed a thing. However, the cost keeps going up and getting ridiculous. They're getting to the point where I can't afford it, but I love them and they've always been so good to us. When she got sick with pneumonia, they had her at the emergency room that day, and when she had diarrhea, they took her to the hospital. She even choked on some food and had to perform the Heimlich maneuver, so they saved her life. I'm very pleased with them. They've done things above and beyond the call of duty.

I liked Brookdale and its people a lot. The single rooms were a little too small, but the two rooms with a little kitchenette were nice. It's clean, welcoming, and pretty. I would put my parents there. They had two rooms that were really pretty and open with lots of windows, but the average room was pretty small. The place was lovely and nice. I wouldn't hesitate to put my parents there because I think they would be comfortable, but they're used to a big house so it's hard for them to move to a limited space. I toured the whole place.

Brookdale High Point was like a hotel room with no kitchen, and the room only had one closet. The tour and the staff were good. They did invite me for lunch, and the dining room wasn’t as pretty. They were adequate, but weren’t as fancy and might have been a few years old.

I'm happy with Brookdale High Point North (Formerly High Point Place). My mother is adjusting well. The rooms are average. The private rooms have more room to accommodate people. The dining room is fine, and the food choices seem to be OK; no complaints there. They have a lot of stuff going on. There's plenty to coordinate with the guests, and they make sure that there's plenty of offerings for them.

I visited Brookdale High Point North. It was OK, and the staff was friendly, but it wasn’t a place to put my mother. They didn’t tell me as much activities. The staff was in a rush because they were seeing somebody else right after me. I looked around and the rooms were really small. Also there were people sitting on wheelchairs in the hallway, and I didn’t like that.

My experience with Brookdale High Point North was very good. I think this would be a good place for my mother to stay. The staff was wonderful. They were very cooperative and helpful. They answered all our questions, and they were really good. The apartments were beautiful, clean, and very well kept. It seemed like they really went the extra mile to keep the place up. This place looked really nice. The residents seemed to be very well cared for and active. I did not eat there, but the dining facility looked very nice. They gave me a muffin, and it was delicious.

Would not recommend unless your loved one needs no care, only meals and medications. Facility is beautiful but care is not. I felt like most of the staff did not care and had no idea how to work with elderly. Things promised were never done and were met with poor excuses. Aides were often seen just sitting doing nothing. Administration and leaders changed with no warning or explanation. Administration was no help when problems occurred. Communication from one staff member to another did not seem to occur. It was difficult to get laundry done. I felt no caring or sense of competence from RN in charge. Yes, this is an assisted living facility, not total care, but promises should not be made if they won't be carried through. I think there were a few people working here who did care, but they were few. I do not think staff are trained properly. Very concerned.

I visited High Point Place because thought it would be better if my mother could move closer to me and if I could find something cheaper. But they do not offer skilled care, and at her age, I thought that she would need skilled care sooner than later, being 98 years old. I want something that would transition from assisted living to skilled care if she needed it. I thought it was a beautiful place, but the people looked a lot younger than my mother -- even though she gets around well -- and I didn't think she would be comfortable there. It just wouldn't work for her. It was a nice place, yes. I met with one man from the staff, and I thought he was knowledgeable. The people that lived there seemed like they were happy. It would be an ideal place for my mother if she was younger.

High Point Place was very nice. The people were nice and friendly. They have different activities going on. They showed me two rooms: one was like a semi-private and one was a private room. I prefer a private room. They were working on it. They were painting the room and getting it ready. I didn’t eat there, but I saw the menu and they had a couple of choices for desserts and beverages. I would probably recommend this facility to others.

I visited High Point Place and the place was much newer and very nice. The cleanliness of the place was just impressive. I didn't necessarily feel like I was in a nursing home. The nurses there were very attentive.

Relative of mine lived there a few years. I saw a slow decline of the attentiveness and care during that time. Staff turnover seemed extreme. Belongings disappeared at the end of the stay never to be returned even after multiple calls and visits.

Even though the place is beautifully built and well constructed, I had a very bad experience. It took me forever to be seen and then the receptionist acted like she had something better to do. She gave be a brochure and told me to fill out an information" care and someone would be in touch with me soon. It is like they did not even want my info. I did not see much from staff or patients and therefore I am giving this facility only one days. They were either too busy or just did not care.
