My father-in-law is at Brookdale Lexington. My husband and I are pleased with them. The staff members have been great. They have gone above and beyond trying to find activities and things for my father-in-law to do. He likes repetitive things like sorting and those types of things, so they brought in little screws and this and that for him to sort and all that stuff. They try to get him involved in some activities. He doesn't participate as much as we'd like him to, but they do a good job there. I've seen the food, and everybody loves the food there. They have a great cook. My father-in-law got a shared room. He has a closet, a bed, and pictures and things in there that help him feel more like he's at home. He has a single bed which we purchased for him when he first got there. The staff members are attentive and assist him with all his needs. They have a private room option, too, but it is more expensive. They have a little courtyard. They have a beauty salon where my father-in-law gets his haircut there. They have people that come by and do their nails at certain times. They take care of his laundry. Besides the dining area where most of the residents go, there's a little side area, and when family comes to visit, you can go sit over there away from the other residents if you'd like. They have several places where you can visit as well.

Brookdale Lexington seemed to be a pretty good place. The staff members were very nice, professional, and polite. I thought the structure of the building was good. The room size seemed to be adequate for my mom. The dining area seemed to have plenty of rooms. I felt like Brookdale Lexington would do a good job. They could take care of my mother if I needed them to.

I was very impressed with Brookdale Lexington. The memory care rooms were nice. The whole campus was nice and very clean. The people that we spoke to seemed kind and friendly. They were very nice and very knowledgeable. The director showed us around. She was very, very good at answering questions and doing the tours. Overall, it was a good place. I felt that it would be a safe place for my father, too, if we chose that. I felt comfortable there. They have a salon and a couple of gardens that they can go sit in and walk.

My dad was a resident of Brookdale Lexington. It's not good, but not bad. It is sort of average. My dad shared a room with another person. His room was poor because they had carpet in there that was stained with urine. It smelled of urine really bad. The staff was really good. They all had big hearts and seemed to care a lot about their clients. They're good at activities. They take them out to eat and do arts and crafts, and they get them out of their rooms, so they just don't sit in the rooms. That was probably the real big benefit of that place. The food is pretty decent, and my dad seemed to enjoy it. Brookdale Lexington can get rid of the extra fees for personal care or at least warn the clients or customers coming in about that. The personal care for my dad went up tremendously there. They should also add a physical activity room for members.

Brookdale Lexington had lovely people. It was just a bit expensive, but the room was fine. It wasn't as big as the other and it had no kitchenette but activity-wise, they had a lot. There was not as much outside area to go to like no screened-in area, but they had a few areas of planting gardens, which was nice.

The tour guide at Brookdale Lexington seemed very nice, knowledgeable, and friendly. It was quite a bit more expensive, but the place looked clean. The rooms were spacious. It was pretty on the inside and decorated very nicely. It had some activity rooms, too.

My husband moved into Brookdale Lexington. I've not seen him since he moved in, but they're getting ready to open. I call him twice a day and they say he's fine and doing pretty good. The staff, so far, has been good. He's in memory care. Communication has been real good, so far. They have activities, and tomorrow is his birthday. I've taken him a cake, and they'll have a little party for him. I think when it gets warmer weather, they'll let them go outside with help.

I did not get a good feel at Brookdale Lexington. It seemed like a ghost town. There was nobody around. There were a few people outside but that was about it. Cleanliness was decent. The place was fine. They had activities, but it just didn't seem very friendly. There wasn't anything going on there.

Brookdale Lexington was showing its age. I didn't have a chance to evaluate the staff. I supposed to have an appointment set up at 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon. No one was there to assist me, but they looked around and found a nurse who gave me a 20-minute tour, which was OK. The room was small. The dining area looked satisfactory. There were no activities. They had a therapy room that had been converted to a library, so they're very limited on the resources as far as therapy. We were looking for more of a physical-occupational therapy, but I didn't see that much of a possibility for that. Therapy would definitely be an improvement.

My overall experience with Carolina House was good. The rooms/apartments were nice. Regarding the staff, they were all very nice. My dad was there for about a month. He liked it. Food was good.

Carolina House is a nice and fine facility, but it has a larger Alzheimer’s unit with 18-20 patients. They have double rooms, or 2 patients per room. They have arts and crafts. I would recommend this place to others.

Carolina House is a very friendly and warm environment. The food is half and half. Some days are good, some days aren't. I'm very impressed with the staff so far. All our needs have been met. My mom likes it a lot when they do activities. She stays really busy. They've gone to the zoo, done shopping at Walmart, done different things at the library, and they cooked cupcakes the other day. They're having a fashion show tomorrow. The place is nice, bright, and sunny and never smells.
