When my father first arrived at the Smithtown center two years ago everything was going well. These past three months have been a nite mare with laundry. Clothing missing, a new replacement outfit I purchased only last 1 1/2 weeks, went missing. All labeled by them very clearly Now, this past week less and less clothing back and we are down to one pair of pants. Furthermore, the three new outfits I brought in two days ago to be labeled and returned, half never made it to my dad. Called police and filed a report. Found him with no pants today and just a blanket to cover him. They had no clothes back to dress him. Unacceptable !

My grandmother was a short term resident at Smithtown Center just before I gave birth to my son. Everyone there was so good to her and the rehab and food were excellent. My grandmother was not an easy patient but they were patient with her!! THe cost was covered by her Medical Insurance.

I was a patient of Smithtown and was just discharged the other day. The care was amazing! I was on unit D which is their sub acute care floor. Everyone was just lovely and the rehab I received for my respiratory needs and heart problems were above and beyond what I had thought. I feel stronger and healthier thanks to the passionate care and support from everyone at the facility. Thanks for all your help and giving me the care I deserved!

My Wife was here for about a month and let me tell you, the care and Rehabilitation she received was amazing. From meeting Christie at the hospital to the warm welcome from the admissions office and nursing staff at the facility and the care plan the medical team created for my wife was above and beyond. This was a great experience and even more importantly the attentive care she received on a day in and day out basis.

My husband has been receiving care at this facility for the past month and half. This facility is top notch. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is wonderful. They all care and work as a team. The Social Worker, Jennifer is a wonderful person who is there for the patient's. Jennifer always has helpful advise and is a person who is resourceful and who has helpful suggestions for you beyond the rehab. The CNA's are helpful and always greet you with a smile and reassure you that everything will be ok. The nursing supervisor, Nick is approachable and will help you with your needs. All the LPN's and day and night nurses are exceptional. The speech therapist Jessy is helpful and accommodating. My husband was a very difficult patient and his recovery is 100%, due to the physical therapy that he has received. My husband previously was at 2 other rehabs and their plan of care for my husband was horrible. He came home with wounds on his butt and the care that he received, if rated, was zero. They provide entertainment on a daily basis. Smithtown Rehab is the place to bring you loved ones either for long or short term. I thank them for all their help.

My mom was here for a month in rehab. I can't say enough about every employee who worked there. I can say from experience with my father, this place was head and shoulders above the rest. Their pt program was awesome. Couldn't be happier. Also, Jennifer in social services was wonderful and kind!

I stayed here for a short time after a hospital stay. Although the food left a lot to be desired the staff was attentive and knowledgeable. The facility is clean and attractive and I can't say enough about the rehab staff. The physical therapy helped me immensely and the staff was so caring and warm. I would highly recommend this place

This place is the pits I'm a friend a patient who came here for rehab. You literally have to tell the people who give medicine to do there job. And when you are trying to help a love out you can't because they have rules which is understandable but when your love needs help they have to wait an hour or 2 hour to actually get help. The only reason I gave this two star some of the aides are really hard working and recreation was nice. And people from PT were great.I just don't think you have to tell people to do there jobs. But everything needs improvement.

I was a patient there for one month. It was dirty and the food was the worst. The care was nothing extraordinary. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

Smithtown Healthcare Facility was a wonderful alternative to living alone for my 85 year old grandmother. The facility is divided into two areas: one for the higher functioning seniors and one for those needing round the clock care. While my grandmother was in the area for higher functioning seniors she delighted in participating in a variety of activities including movie night, bingo, cooking class, and even a computer class. The facility offered their residents transportation to the mall as well as church services, both things that my grandmother took advantage of. The staff was warm and welcoming and never treated my grandmother as if she were a burden to them.In terms of living conditions, my grandmother shared a double bedroom, with a roommate, which had all the comforts of home in terms of a bathroom, bedroom furniture, a television and a phone. She had her own space, which she valued, but had so many social activities that she rarely spent time in her room. In fact, the first time that I visited her I was amazed how tan she was. The staff was always taking them out for walks on nice days, something she was afraid to do when she lived on her own, and she had gotten a nice healthy glow as a result. The only negative was that my grandmother, when she began failing and was moved to the section for round the clock care, she had her jewelry stolen out of her room.

My grandmother was placed here when she broke her pelvis after a fall and was a resident for nine years. The staff provided many activities for the residents which helped my grandmother acclimate to her new environment. The staff was personable and seemed to genuinely care about my grandmothers well being. She was able to take a computer class and even take trips to the mall and to see shows. It was a difficult transition for my grandmother but I do feel that it was a safer living environment for her. The only negative thing I would say was that many of the residents that were in my grandmothers unit suffered from dementia and were not good social partners for my grandmother who was very with it until her death. She would often get lonely from the lack of interaction. It would have been beneficial for the units to be seperated by the residents mental ability. I am unsure if this was possible but it was something that would routinely come up when I visited. Also there was a large turn over of staff, especially with the aides. This was a bit unnerving for the family as we never knew who would be taking care of my garndmother and the level of care she would be receiving. My grandmother was uncomfortable with strangers showering her, so we began requesting that certain aides shower her, and I must say that the facility administrators were accomomodating with this request. Also, in one instance money was tsolen from my grandmothers drawer. We complained and the money was returned. It was sad when this happened as it made us distrustful of the staff. All in all, we had a good experience at this facility.
