It has taken me some time to think how to write this review because I want to be sure that people understand what I'm about to say.. My dear sister went into Luxor for some physical therapy after a hospital stay. Unfortunately the disease that put her there started to take her life and finally did while staying here. I cannot express strongly enough the warmth of the kind, compassionate, professional, quality care my sister received from the entire team of people that work at the St. James Luxor. . The physical therapy team was exemplary and I cannot express enough thanks to them for their kindness and compassion not only for my sister but for me and my family The nursing staff and assistants were phenomenal and words may fail to express my appreciation for their compassionate care., but from the bottom of my heart I thank them. The dietary department was very engaged with my sister's needs which was a priority at the time and were so kind. The maintenance department was expedient and kindly in their tasks when needed. The administrative team was both professional and friendly. Reception was very welcoming. and the bakery was such a nice touch to the facility. The facility itself was clean and cheerful, but it was the care and compassion that my sister and my family received from the entire community of staff that worked to help my sister come to the end of her is I want people to know about.. This was such a hard time for us all and the staff was there for us in a way that both comforted us and cared so well for my very much loved sister and i thank them all.

When we went to pick my mom up at Luxor Nursing and Rehabilitation at Mills Ponds, she was very incoherent, and her blood pressure was very low. They didn't pick up on it until I said something to them. They did not do the right thing. They lost my mom's dentures, and they didn't realize that she was sick. They had to send my mom to the emergency room because she wound up getting MRSA in the facility, and she wound up with double pneumonia in both lungs. I was not happy with them. They're below average. The place was clean. The rooms were very much like hospital rooms. They had some private rooms. But it's like a hospital, and it's not like a home. The staff members were overworked and too busy. They can't keep up with the demands. My mom wasn't happy with the food there, too. They definitely need more staff because that's the problem. They can't keep up with the demands. There's not enough of them taking care of elderly people that have issues.

This nursing rehab center has the worst food. It's slope thrown on a tray. Breakfast has cold white farina and a cup of coffee. Lunch can be anything from tasteless chicken salad, liver and onions, stuffed cabbage . All meals are served with a cup of ice cold vegetables like cold carrots, broccoli . The food is absolutely horrendous. Dinner burger was a hard disc burger , they also served tasteless white mashed potatoes with chicken patties / chicken nuggets with brown gooey gravy . I literally felt sick after every meal. They food needs to be looked into !

Mary had a private room and it was kept clean and well stocked each day. cleaning staff was always helpful and pleasant. Mary is a vegetarian and the dietician helped to provide her with healthy, well balanced meals. Mary especially loved the pizza. PT and OT worked hard restoring Marys strength and movement. They are all professional and patient, which was so helpful while recovering from a recent illness in the rehabilitation unit. The Nursing staff also took excellent care helping Mary get through her recovery. Mary, the head nurse ,was informative and communicated with our us regarding Marys labs and test results. The social worker also kept us informed and prepared us nicely for discharge. Mary and all our family would refer your facility to others seeking rehab services. Of course, we must mention the lovely cafe and all the people serving there. It is a very pleasant addition .

My mom is there now and she is doing well they are very attentive to her needs , sometimes it takes a while to get to her because they are short staffed , but as far as I can see they are good to her . We are there everyday and all of her needs are met. Try walking in their shoes before you judge how people are . They have to toilet these patients and sometimes feed them, it’s not an easy job

I was a short term patient recovering from spinal fusion surgery. I was placed on the long term Dementia/Alzheimer's 3rd floor when I should have been placed on the short term floor (1st floor) I shared a room with an individual that screamed at night and followed my every move during the day - they finally after the 3rd day transferred me to a private room ( i have no idea who is paying for the private room I did not authorize it. It takes 1 hour or longer before the respond to the call bells - they do not distribute the medications in a timely fashion I requested medication from the night nurse at 6:27 one day and she finally came at 8:50 - they changed my medication without my permission or my primary doctors permission which resulted in a bloody nose -when I told them of the bloody nose they disregarded it and walked away they substituted 10mg Rosuvastatin with 20mg Atorvastatin. They would not adhere to the surgeons instructions on caring for the wound or changing the dressing - the surgeon had to fax written instructions before they would change the dressing properly The 3rd floor either had a stomach virus infection or food poisoning - I questioned this and was told the only floor infected was the 3rd floor - I was affected by this issue and told several nurses - they did nothing for it and administered nothing to relieve the intense diarrhea and nausea - I asked for Imodium and anti nausea medication - after a full day of diarrhea I became extremely weakened and upon trying to get to the bathroom the call bell had been pressed with no response, I passed out and fell hitting a nearby chair causing nose damage at the bridge and again a serious nose bleed - I had been calling out for at least 45 minutes before someone heard my cries for help and discovered me laying in a pool of blood on the floor They were supposed to take X-rays as per the house doctors instructions but never did The Physical Therapy people are the only group that offer any type of care at all Overall - I give this facility the absolute worst rating possible - for a short term resident it was horrible for any long term patient needing the most basic of care - IT IS NOT GIVEN ! there is no care given here

This place welcomes u like Ed McMann coming to your door with a check. Once the doors shut, you have no contact with your loved one. They don't answer the phone. Have no family portal. My mothers insurance was running out. Shocker, she ended up on the floor at 1am. Got to St. Catherines at 6:30 am. Not a scratch on her. They wanted her gone. Picked up her clothes, most missing. Some used tissues, and a bathrobe in a bag, soaking wet and cover in human waste. THIS PLACE ONLY WANTS YOUR $$$$$$. NO CARE WAS GIVEN TO OUR LOVED ONE. BE WARE!

Unfortunately I needed for my mother here for a temporary stop over for her to go to assisted-living My parents had a tire and my mother has slight memory loss. I was able to take my father home with me. The food is terrible… They get mad that I order taken every day. They never answer the phone. Good luck with that. I also have a call 911 because my mother fell out of her bed and I refuse to get her medical attention. I would not put my dog in this place

I am pleased to be able to write this review in support of the quality and outstanding care I received when admitted to the Luxor Rehabilitation and Nursing care Center at Mills Pond in St. James New York. After being in a hospital for several weeks, being treated for an autoimmune disease, unrelated to COVID 19, once stabilized I was transferred to the rehabilitation facility. This would allow me to improve an increased level of independence so that I would be able to go into an Assisted Living center or to go back to my home. I, my wife, and family, as I am sure many of you would, had a great deal of anxiety regarding thre adjustment and quality of care I would receive at a rehabilitation and long-term nursing care center. Let me state at the ourtset, without question, my choice to stay at the Luxor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center was the right choice. From the time I was admitted to the day of my discharge every single individual, everyday, gave me excellent and quality care which during my six month stay reduced my anxiety to zero. You could say that the care given to me was like a well oiled machine, or a pie where every piece fit together perfectly. There was great communication between all departments which assured that the care I received was seamless. I am pleased to say that the level of care I received was far beyond what I expected from a rehabilitation and nursing home. There is an old adage that states, "It is not the job that one does but it is the person that does that job". I wish I could name all of the outstanding caregivers but here are just a few who deserve special recognition: The Housekeeping staff, Social Worker department, Alexa in admissions, Kathy in finance, Kathy in Nursing, Michael in administration, Louis, Mary, AnneMarie, and Meghan, in Nursing, and especially Yoleen, Shirley, Ansley, and Darlyne, the best Certified Nursing Assistants I could have hoped to have taking care of me. Should anyone need Long Term Rehabilitation or Nursing Care, The Luxor Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center at Mills Pond in St. James New York is the place to be. I can assure, without question, that those who are there will receive excellent quality care far above and beyond what is expected and which is given to all patients and residents, They will receive empathy, concern, patience, and heartfelt caring. The outstanding staff made a choice to pursue a career path that requires passion, compassion, patience, and discipline, which is currently exacerbated by COVID 19. Most people have an underlying fear of being dependent on someone else for their basic day to day functions, specially with strangers. Those at Luxor were attentive and caring in a way that made even the most vulnerable of situations comforting.

My mother-in-law is a resident of Luxor Nursing and Rehab at Mills Ponds. The care is great, she's doing very well there and the staff is very attentive. It's not a large community, but it's very quaint, and she's very happy there. She's adjusting right now, so the nurses take very good care of her in terms of hygiene, she's well-taken care of. I think they could have a little more activities but then again they're just a small community, so I have no complaints about them. A few things need to be corrected like the elevator not working too well. The appearance of the place is fine, she has a nice big room there.
