I am/was a resident of this facility

The rooms are quite nice The food is TERRIBLE. I have been here for one month and I have not had a hot meal at any time. All I get is promises and promises.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I visited my grandfather this weekend and was very upset. I haven’t seen him in a few months. The bathroom in his apartment was dirty and smelled of urine. I noticed feces on the floor. He doesn’t leave his apartment only for meals. Staff didn’t respond to my call for help. It was sad to see him just sitting in his chair alone. He seems lonely and unhappy.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother stayed at Brightview Sayville. They have independent, assisted, and memory care. When you walk in, there's a large fireplace and there is a television area. There is what they call a bistro or the happy hour area. There's a big library and an all-purpose room. It's larger than where she is now, but when she was independent, it was fine for her. It was time for her to look for something with more care. I didn't know much about their assisted living, and I wanted her to be closer to me. Some of the staff was excellent and some of the staff was not. There was a good amount of turnover, which was concerning. There were a lot of open positions for some time, so many of the activities and things that needed to be handled were left because there was no one in the position for some time. They had music and Wii bowling. They have a pretty walking trail that goes around the whole building. They have a happy hour every day. They have cards and Rummikub. They got one meal a day there, which was dinner. They had a coffee machine, and they would put out a continental breakfast and I think twice a week they had eggs and something else, but she was not happy with the food at all. Her apartment had a full kitchen in the independent living. She had a full refrigerator, stove, oven, and toaster oven, so she would make her own food pretty often or she would order some food and just try to pick out what she liked. It's a nice, very pretty place and the apartments were pretty. They were so short-staffed that it was hard to provide the necessary service. They could improve the quality of the food. From the time that my mom got there, it seemed that the quality of the food went down significantly. Initially, it was fine and it seemed like they were cutting corners with everything.

Brightview Sayville is a beautiful place but please beware that the costs are extremely high and residents don't always get what they've paid for. One example is the food. The food is certainly not gourmet as promised. It is mediocre at best. Activities and excursions are sporadic as they seem to be short-staffed. The best part of Brightview is the camaraderie and friendships developed among residents.

I am so happy my mother in law lives in brightview Sayville. The staff are always friendly, attentive and caring. The apartment is gorgeous. I want to move in. She enjoys the meals and the waitresses are always kind and pleasant. She loves playing rummicub with her friends. I am looking forward to the summer BBQ. Thank you to all members of the staff.

I visited this facility

We went to visit Brightview Sayville and it was fabulous, the place was amazing. It was just too expensive but it's beautiful, brightly lit, and brand new. Our tour guide was exceptionally personable and professional. They had so many different areas, they had an area for retirement living, assisted living, and memory care, with each in its own area. They had a 5-star movie theater, they had a bar where people go at night to meet and converse, and they could have drinks in a bar, they have everything. I just didn't get to meet a lot of the staff members. The place made me feel like I was on a cruise ship. It's right across the street from Target so it's very, very close to shopping, and it's not far from a hospital.

I visited this facility

Brightview Sayville caters to the needs of whichever level a person is at, depending upon what services they need, as well as extended care. If a resident needs more assistance, you don't have to leave the facility to go to another place. The several rooms we saw, whether it was a studio or an extended studio, or a one-bedroom, were all laid out well. They provide enough rooms for even a scooter to go through it. The layout allowed more mobility for a person to move about and there wasn't anything in the way. We were impressed with that. We visited that place three or four times already and the people that we met there were very helpful and into what's best for whatever the resident needs (from the highest level of care down to the person that's independent). Their attitude is very positive, very up, and very caring. They provide the necessary services that are needed, whether it's physical therapy, medical, or maintenance. We got the impression that those would be provided happily. The facility is fairly new and it's absolutely beautiful. It looks like a resort. The whole layout of the place is very comforting and very happy, because of the colors chosen. As you walk in, everyone greets you and everyone is happy to introduce themselves. The residents seemed very pleased with their situation. If you want to be social, you can do that, or if you want to be independent by yourself, you can do that as well. When the weather's nice, they have a pleasant place for people to sit outside that's covered from the sun. There's a chef on staff, so the food is freshly made. It's not brought in and reheated or re-cooked. They offer a variety of choices for each meal. So, if a person cannot eat a particular item, the chef will prepare something else. If you have allergies or if you need to eat vegan or anything like that, they provide for those needs. They have a private dining area where you can come in and eat with your family, too.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother moved into Brightview Sayville. I just drove in yesterday to visit her and she looked great. Originally, we were going to go with the memory care unit, but after evaluations and talking with the staff (I'm in total agreement with it), after visiting and seeing my mom's mental capacity was well beyond their memory care unit, we moved her into assisted living. The staff so far has been wonderful, answers questions, and is responsive to my mom's needs. They provide laundry service. Her room is neat, clean, and polished. When I was touring the place, I met with some of the residents that were there, and they were great. Prior to my mom moving in, one lady grabbed me and she goes, "I only have one thing to say about Brightview. I can't find anything wrong with it." You can't get a higher review than that and then I proceeded with my tour, but because of COVID restrictions, I can't dine with them. They have cards, bingo, Wii bowling, there's a movie theater, a fireplace room, a library, chess, and mahjong. The dining area is like a four-star hotel. The waitresses are very nice and understanding to their clients. They will help them. The first night when she was there, I kneeled next to her while she was going over the menu, helping her understand it because she was used to another facility where her meals were dictated to her. I said, "Ma, you have your choice. You got shrimp on a skewer and chicken alfredo, whatever you want." It's nice and if they want to take their time eating, they will wait on them. There are lots of choices. They have a standard menu and then their daily specials. The staff is very friendly. I know them all by name. The place is two years old. It is immaculate. The location for us is optimal. The front of it sits on a major highway, but it's still back far enough. The backside of it faces a state game land that will never be developed and that's where my mom's room faces. There are nice courtyards with benches and flowers. It's cool. I'm kind of jealous.

I visited this facility

I toured Brightview Sayville. It's a newer facility. People seem to be happy there. The room was good. I saw a one-bedroom. So, it was two separate rooms, and it was nice. They offer movies, happy hour, and they also offer physical therapy. I saw some people playing cards. They had a salon, a dining room, and a movie theater. It was very expensive. I was only in contact with one person, and she seemed nice. One side is facing Sunrise Highway, so that wasn't too good.

I visited this facility

Brightview Sayville would be perfect for my parents because they have a full kitchen but you still get your meals and all that. Their kitchen was beautifully done; it was a high-end, beautifully appointed kitchen. It had a washer and dryer in the apartment, but not all of them have that. It's independent living but also had all the perks of assisted living. They had a big billiards room to play, you know, pool and they had bocce, they had a lot of activities. As a gift for touring, they gave us a box of scones with homemade jam; and that was delicious. It was really good.

I visited this facility

I went to Brightview Sayville. The tour was very nice. It was very nice, and everything was good. I liked it. I would go there if I have to go. But we haven't made up our mind because our bedrooms don't fit in these places. We're not ready to make that big change to downsize, from a big house to go to a small house. It seems cozy, and the dining room was very nice. It's warm and cozy. It's well-kept. Everything was clean. The staff who gave me the tour was a good salesperson. She was very warm also. She was friendly and very informative. They had a special going up until the end of the year. They have happy hour, they have things to do and games, and they have places to go with a bus and all. They have things to keep you busy.
