My mother-in-law is at Water's Edge Rehab and Nursing Center at Port Jefferson. They're wonderful, everybody's friendly, and the facility is immaculate. They just shut down visiting again, but I can't say enough good things about the place. They take care of her so well. She's clean, and even when she's in a wheelchair, they get her out of the bed. I love the place. It's just sometimes when you call, they don't answer the phone right away, so you gotta keep calling back, but it's not a big deal for me. I get that they're short staffed, and they've been wonderful so far. She's actually been happy there, and I've never seen her look so healthy in my life. She says the food is awesome and that they give her so much that she can hardly eat it. I like how they treat the residents too, like nothing is too much for them/for you to ask of them. They're very friendly and they welcome you like a family. They are a little expensive, and we had to self-pay for three months, but it was OK because she had savings, and she's already now under Medicaid.

The rooms are kept neat and clean. They need more staff . I have met 3 wonderful women who work on the 2nd floor (long term) with my mother. Theses CNA’s: Marie, Shing and Fatima are amazing and go beyond.

Horrible treatment. Fifty inside.Zero communication. Past Dr should lose his license. There were only a handful of employees that were ok. Not nearly enough and not acceptable. I hate to think about the suffering our loved one went through in that place. I bet the good employees know the truth but keep their mouth shut to keep their jobs. Just sinful.

Majority of staff are rude. My mother suffered from staff constantly talking to her rude, telling her she was lazy. Refused to assist her when she called them. Ignored her call bell and took it away from her to prevent her from pressing the call bell. The food was horrific, I wouldn't feed it to a stray animal. Unless you are going to stay there with your loved one 24/7 rest assured they will be ignored and treated terribly. I made multiple complaints to anyone who listened at that facility, no improvement as a result. Only highly functional residents will get by.

Rooms are in good shape and clean. Any accidents are cleaned immediately and thoroughly. Interactions with the staff are always pleasant and they have always been attentive and responsive. The nursing staff is especially pleasant and dilligent. I have to say, all the staff is experienced, well trained and overall excellent. There are a wide variety of activties for the residents. They do publish an extensive schedule. They offer excellent pysical rehab.

The facility is lacking in professionalism, and caring. I had a family member here, and was disappointed on so many levels, from the lack of response to call bells, delay in medications, and lack of communication. The food I saw was passed on dirty trays, was cold and horrible. I was bringing my family member food. I would not recommend this facility. many other better places. Wish I would have known before having them spend time here.

My husband had been in 3 other facilities. There is no comparison. At Waters Edge he gets quality loving care. So much so that he is a changed man for the better since he checked in. He is more alert and interested in life. He smiles more. The facility is bright and cheerful and spotless. I highly recommend this facility.

There was nothing that I liked about Water's Edge. Some of the staff was somewhat friendly. They seem to be conscientious although they don't listen to what you tell them. The next time that you come and you inquire about something you asked them about the last time, they haven't taken care of it. They smile a lot at you, and they seem very enthusiastic as if they want to help you, but the next time you come, they haven't done what they told you they were going to do. Their food is absolutely horrible. There is no taste to it whatsoever. If a patient requires some type of dietary need, they do not follow them. The rooms are typical of the average nursing home. They seem clean, and there is a large window. It is actually like an average hospital room with two people in it. I would say the cleanliness of the whole facility is average. They seem to have the standard activities for the senior citizens. I recall a calendar of events listed on my parent's bulletin board on the room. There were activities of storytelling or someone doing some kind of a craft or a sing-along. The quality of the food and listening to patients needs are the two to prioritize because they are not good.
