My mother has moved into Elderwood Village at Colonie. It's very clean. The people are very good at communicating and answering questions, they're friendly, and they made her feel welcome. They're friendly both with us as the family and her as the resident that lives there. They're attentive, and I think that seems to be the biggest thing. There hasn't been anything that we haven't liked so far. It hasn't been very long, but everything has been as we would expect it to be. The meals are outstanding compared to what she had before. I can't say enough about them. They had a couple of people got COVID since she moved in, so they've kind of cut the activities out just for the time being until they get that under control. She hasn't participated in a whole lot, but it seems like they have a pretty big calendar of activities normally. They have a salon for her to get her hair done and she likes that. They have a television movie kind of room, a popcorn machine, and a patio outside like a courtyard area where they can go hang out. On different days, they go to different local stores where she can sign up to participate.

There wasn't anything I didn't like about Elderwood Village at Colonie. It seemed like they were amazing. We would have put my dad there, but he required too much care, so we couldn't. If he was able to go there, we would have sent him there in a heartbeat. The staff was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. The person that we talked to knew every single person we walked by. It was just like a family atmosphere. It was nice. I saw their food and it looked like something I would want to eat. It was very clean. The great little room was great. Everything was great. The dining area was nice and big. It had big tables and everyone was eating together. The staff was really friendly and joking around with the residents. It was very, very nice. It was warm and welcoming.

I went to Elderwood Village at Colonie. It was very nice, very clean, and everybody was very friendly. I thought it was a very nice facility. I was actually looking for a one-bedroom or studio for my father. I thought it was slightly smaller than the place where he's at now, but it was nice and clean. The place, I believe they told me, has pretty much been all redone. I have nothing negative to say about it. They have medication management, transportation to doctors' appointments, they do laundry, they provide meals, and they also have activities. They provide entertainment. They have a beauty salon. So they offer a lot of amenities.

We toured Elderwood Village at Colonie. They were wonderful, and the staff was very knowledgeable. They showed us everything. I just thought it was really nice, and the place looks great. The staff who gave us the tour was very informational. The rooms were great. I have not tried the food, but I saw the dining area, and that was great too. There is nothing I can say against them. The outdoor spaces were very nice too. In terms of activities, there was all kinds of things going on. They had Halloween decorations, cooking, arts and crafts. It was amazing, and everybody was so happy. The residents talked to us also. The facility is beautiful.

I liked the affordability of Elderwood Village at Colonie. It's a flat rate. It's older, but they are under renovation right now, and from what I could see that's been completed, it should look pretty nice. The proximity to my home is also good. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and very attentive to what my father's current condition is.

We originally had my wife at Elderwood Village at Colonie. We were very impressed with the organization. Unfortunately, she took a walk. There were police, and roadblocks, and canines, and a four-hour search. That morning we were advised we were on 30 days' notice to get her in a different facility. What annoyed me about Elderwood was they never communicated the fact that they were not able to handle the memory. Apparently, they are only an assisted living, and yet they knew she had memory issues, so I don't know why they accepted her. It was beautiful. We saw the menus, the dining room, talked with the staff, talked with administration, walked around, and it was a wonderful assisted living facility. They had activities, clubs, and programs. We were very, very happy with the facility, with the exception of the fact that they never bothered to tell us that they were merely assisted living. We unfortunately assumed that assisted living and memory care require the same facility, not necessarily staff programs and so forth, and have come to find out that memory care needs a secure facility. They are almost secure, their doors were alarmed and so forth, but they were not inviolate. People could get out, and that's what happened in our case.

My dad is at Elderwood Village at Colonie and it's a very clean place. They are very responsive, attentive, and the facility is very, very easy to navigate. It's like a big loop. Everything is, of course, flat, so it's easy to ambulate too. They got a nice community room and the staff has been very warm, friendly, and supportive. The menu looks pretty good and I haven't heard any complaints about the food. It's incredibly affordable and the location is wonderful. I think they have a good thing going on compared to a lot of the other facilities that are too expensive.

I like the location of Elderwood Village at Colonie. It is set back from the road, maybe a couple of hundred yards away, so it's very peaceful and there's tall grass, trees, and flowers around. It's a one-story building so it's wheelchair accessible and very easy for residents to use their rollators. My sister's in a wheelchair, but some of the other places recommended to us were multi-story facilities and they weren't suitable for a wheelchair resident. The staff is very good, very friendly, and very accessible too. All their offices are in one hall, so you go from one door to the next and there's the director, the administrator, the community outreach person, and the social director. So, it's very easy to arrange meetings with them if you have any issues. I think they said that their capacity is 90, and right now they've got 50 plus residents. They told me that their company took over this property about two years ago and they started to renovate, but then because of COVID, they had to slow it down and now they're continuing their renovation for the two wings. My sister got a room in one of the newly renovated wings and it's very nice, has its bathroom, it's very accessible with new furniture and a new bed. In all the other places she stayed, she wasn't that crazy about the food, but the food here is good, and the other residents are very friendly. She quite likes it. They have a full schedule of activities and they just started taking them on outings now that the constraints have been held back. The price is quite reasonable as well.

We found Elderwood Village at Colonie for my mother, and she's been there about three weeks now. Everything has been great, it's very comfortable, and they're very attentive. They've been amazing over there, it's been a good transition for a tough time. They're checking on her all the time, every time I go visit her everything is very neat and orderly. She loves it there. The food has been very good. I'm a food and beverage guy, so I got to meet a couple of chefs they have over there and they have a nice setup in the house. They deliver some high- quality meals. They have a lot of activities from bingo, to music, singalongs, they have a pretty extensive itinerary to keep the residents occupied. They have a nice, big, library, a couple of common areas, they have different movies going on, and different shows, and there's a lot of interaction over there that is very nice.

My husband needed more care than what Elderwood Village at Colonie could give him in assisted living. They were very helpful, and very responsive to my questions; they did well. It just didn't work out that this was a place where he could go. The dining room was large, and the facility for preparing food was off to the side. The trouble with when I was there was they were doing construction. Certain places were blocked off because they were under construction, but generally I got a very good feeling about the facility, and about the staff. The person in-charge of showing me around introduced me to one or two people as we were passing through, but I didn't have much interaction with the staff. They were preparing for a celebration at the time. For us, it would've been a good place, and they were certainly making improvements, expanding, so I got a good feeling about it while I was there.

I visited Elderwood Village at Colonie. I was there for a half-hour just to look around the place, so I really couldn't say too much about one way or the other. Someone had suggested it to me because they supposedly could transition to Medicaid when needed. When I talked to them, they said they really weren't ready for that yet. They had been under different ownership and they were transitioning so they said they wouldn't be ready for that. The young lady who showed me around was very nice. She was very helpful actually giving me some advice about that transition issue with Medicaid. She actually offered more than she needed to. The building was not impressive.

My mother moved into Elderwood Village at Colonie, and it's good. Most of the staff members are really good. My mom has had a tough time, but now she's trying to associate with more people, and it's getting better. Her room is good. I make sure she has everything she needs, so that worked well. They are in the process of redoing everything. It's an older facility that was purchased by Elderwood recently, so they really want to put their stamp on it, and make it exactly what they want it to be. They give her all her medications, they help her with showering, they can provide transportation, and they do her laundry. My mom really likes the food.

My mother was a past resident of Elderwood Village at Colonie. Their service was OK. They have nursing there. It wasn't quite as clean as the other place, but the staff was good, and very helpful. However, when the new management took over, they raised my mother's rent. The rooms were half the size of the other place. My mother didn't complain about the food, she played bingo there, but she did not go out on trips. They switch people a lot, and in the few years she was there, there were only three people left that were there originally. Everybody treated her nicely. The activity director was a terrific lady.

The rooms at Brookdale Colonie were acceptable. I thought the entire place was very good. I made a point of observing the residents because it tells me a lot to see how they are handling themselves. Everything looked good. However, if we were going to do Brookdale, that would have to be a temporary situation, then we would have to be private pay, so I don't see that happening. They had a lot more rooms and different areas to do different things because it was a larger place. Everything looked good. They had a very nice and large kitchen. The dining area was very good. I definitely would like to consider them but financially I don't see it working out only because they do not accept Medicaid. The people that I dealt with were very good and very friendly. The director made a point of coming out and introducing herself to me. She also said goodbye when I was leaving, which was good.

My aunt has resided at Brookdale since the summer of 2016. The friendly, competent staff welcomed her with open arms and she made a smooth transition. There's a variety of experiences and activities - something for everyone - and Brookdale feels like one big family. The staff are very responsive & communicative.

Brookdale Colonie is very pleasant. There are a lot of activities and a lot of interaction, so people are not just sitting around; they’re socially and interactively engaged with one another. They go out on outings, and there’s a full gamut of services that many of the facilities do provide. It’s clean and regulated by New York State, so it has to meet certain standards. My husband’s in a private room with a bed, a couple of chairs, desk, computer, TV, a dresser, and his own private bathroom, which has a walk-in shower and a big closet. Plus, he has his own thermostatic control for heat and cooling; each room has its own. Of course, it has the emergency pull ring, and laundry services are once a week or more if needed. The food is delicious.

I visited Brookdale Colonie, and it’s fine place. The staff seemed to be friendly and caring. I was able to eat there, and the food was good. They have trips, and they also do concerts. They have a lot of activities every day, so the place is busy. They also have a beauty parlor, so overall it's very nice.

Brookdale Colonie (formerly Emeritus at Colonie Manor) was too small, and I didn't like it at all. The people were nice, it was cheaper, and it was clean, but the dining area was very claustrophobic.

Brookdale Colonie was very nice. We like the people very much. It was a much smaller facility. We like the idea that it was small, that it was more personal, and all of that was good. However, their rooms were small. They said that they could combine two of the rooms and have a doorway in between two of the rooms so that they have two small rooms and two small bathrooms. We considered it because they were such nice people, and it was a very pleasant atmosphere. We like it a lot, but the room was just so small.

My mother is in Brookdale Colonie (Formerly Emeritus at Colonie Manor). The staff are all very friendly. The place is clean. Everybody is very nice. The rooms are a little bit small, but very clean with new carpeting. The dining room is beautiful; however, the food is not so good. They have bingo and arts & crafts, they can sign up to do outings, and they go to diners or the mall. She wanted to be in Colonie because that's where her old apartment was, and she wanted to stay close to her friends and the activities that she is still able to do.

Brookdale seemed very nice. However, it was a little bit further than I wanted to go because my mom?s grandchildren live away. It would probably be an hour's ride for them to just come and visit, so I needed something closer. The manager was a very nice guy. He showed me all around. He was extremely knowledgeable -- knew his stuff back and forth, up and down. He explained everything and was very engaging. The residents were all very nice. They all said hello, and he said that they are very good when they meet a new person. All in all, it seemed like a nice place to be. It was a little dark when I walked in, and I wanted something a little brighter. The respite rooms were nice. They were furnished; they had a living room, a bedroom. Everything is furnished if you?re doing respite. If you?re doing independent-living, you have to bring in your own furniture.

I recently visited my grandmother from out of town. The first thing I noticed when pulling up was residents sitting outside enjoying the weather. The building and maintenance was very clean and well kept! As I entered I was greeted right away and noticed more residents enjoying snacks and socializing...it was really cute! The rooms were an ideal size and the staff seemed pleasant. Mike the sales manager made this possible for my family and was extremely genuine throughout this difficult and personal transition. If you are looking for a place for your loved one, give Mike a call. We trust our family in Brookdales care!

Emeritus at Colonie Manor was nice, and the staff seemed very nice. The people seemed to be well taken care of. The rooms were very small, and the facility was a little tired. It was little older, but I thought that the care there was probably excellent. Maybe the overall looked of the place could use a little freshening up. However, the cleanliness was very good. I would recommend that people go look at it and see if it would fit their needs. It was more modest. It was older, but also the cost was more reasonable. If you were looking for a place that was really going to take care of your parent, I thought that that's an excellent place to go. I thought it was a very solid place, and I thought the manager was really great.

My husband and I toured Colonie Manor after hearing about it through a friend. We were looking for a place for my Mom and all of the staff were wonderful. Mike the director spent a lot of time with us and explained the whole process. Location was perfect, but my Mother needed full nursing care. Would recommend this community to anyone in need.

Rooms are incredibly small. We paid for the "extra" care which was almost never delivered. Food was disappointing. It is obvious to me that some of these reviews are fraudulently written by Colonie Manor Staff! Look elsewhere for a place for your loved one.

We just had a tour here in Emeritus at Colonie Manor. There was nothing that I can say specifically that I disliked about it. It is very well furnished. This is one of the three facilities that I visited which I can say is the most expensive and the best in terms of physical facilities. The rooms have updated bathrooms, and it's very nicely furnished, very well decorated, and really quite luxurious. My husband and I thought there was something walking in there that made us felt stifled. I can't give you a good obvious reason why I didn't like it. But after the tour, both my husband and I felt the same way. I don't think the care there is very good either. That is my impression.

The people at Emeritus all said that they liked it a lot, and they were very happy to be there, but I didn’t like it. I went in a couple of rooms; it was an older facility and not quite as up to date. The staff was very nice. The administrator was really on top of things; they were very sharp and very, very nice. There was a lot good about it. They do take respite which very few do, and they had different levels of care there.

Emeritus is a little dated. I would say on a scale of 1 to 10, I would probably give it a 6 for cleanliness. Compared to other facilities, I would not put it on the top, there is only the minimal amount of staff that care for the amount of people that lived there. As an example recently I was asking about housekeeping and one of the housekeepers was an irregular and told me they just hired a person. I tried the food one time and I would say it’s mediocre. Dad doesn’t complain about it, but he has some dementia. The other people that live there encourage him to participate in activities, and one of the big senior citizens' best options there is playing Wii bowling. But, they probably need to update some of the basic things that they have in the rooms like the closet. The doors are half-working, the bathrooms are a bit dated, the cabinets that they have could be changed, and thet could have more staff.

My mother is in Emeritus. The staff was friendly and nice. They helped setup my mother in her room The new management is friendly, but the housekeeping is not what I expected. The cleaning is not done to our satisfaction. My mother is happy with the food. They really don’t have a fully adequate library or media rooms, but mom watches TV and goes down to different games.

Emeritus at Colonie Manor seemed like a pleasant place. It looked like a nice, clean, and caring place. The staff seemed to be good. There were a lot of good activities for the seniors. The dining room looked nice, and the meals looked good. However, the rooms were kind of small. The place was large; maybe it was too large for a senior. There were too many people, but I wouldn't discount it. Everyone looked content.

We have my mom at Emeritus at Colonie Manor. It was one of Caring.com's recommendations. The place is small, which is a good thing especially if there are ambulatory issues. The staff is great. They're very friendly and very helpful. Mom hasn't been there long enough to make any kind of judgment; however, I didn't have any real difficulties with them.

This nursing facility has been personally visited by me couple of months ago along with my grand mother. I also happened to meet the residents and get their opinion. I found this facility a real home with neat and tidy atmosphere. Residents are enjoying all perks and privileges with supreme respect and dignity. Staff and management are thorough professionals who are giving their 100 % to make the facility a success. Activities have been planned to let everyone participate with his heart out and enjoy the daily routine. Food quality is fine and menu is balanced and nutritious. Health facility is available in the form of near hospitals. Nursing staff inside the complex is available round the clock to take care of old and patients. Internet, library, laundry and other misc facilities are readily available to meet the requirements of people. Overall, I would rate this facility very high and recommend it for all old but loved ones.
