My Mom is a five year Resident of PV Nursing home in Derry NH. What a great place to live. Gives my whole family piece of mind and my Mom loves it here. Every staff member from Administrator and Social Services to Nursing and support staff work great with one important goal: create safe and pleasant living for our Senior. Rooms are clean, Meals are hot and delicious. Nursing staff very attentive to all special needs Residents might have. They have great activities for Residents and work very hard to make sure every one is engaged. Thank you Pleasant Valley. I would recommend this facility to any family looking for a great place for Senior.

My father was there March 2021 until his death on June 27 2021 He had terminal cancer. While at PV The cancer spread to his stomach. He had to go the hospital. PV charges daily to hold the bed for the resident who goes to the hospital. So, each day for three days there was a hold bed charge. My father’s long term Medicaid was pending So he could not have a Covid shot or a wheel chair with a place to put his feet. My father called my sister brother and me to tell us that he was wearing someone elses clothes. His clothes were actually missing. His “my pillow”was given to his roommate His comforter was lost They lost the remote to the tv we brought up there for him. My father would pee on his self and sit in his urine for hours even after I told the nurse he was soaked His depends started to leak out the urine. The nurse rolled her eyes at me. The phone the patients used to talk to loved ones is not in their room. The cordless phone kept getting lost, so I couldn’t talk to my dad until staff could find the phone. The case manager was nice and always pleasant. The billing person was not nice. My father’s long term Medicaid application was denied on June 19th 2021. He died 2 days later at 730 pm. next day At 830AM my sister and I come to get his things billing is accosting me about his bill. The case manager had to intervene.

My father-in-law is a resident of Pleasant Valley Nursing Center. The way it started out, they were the only one that had a spot, but we went to visit them, and we liked the place. He didn't know he was going, but he's very happy there now. They're just basically rooms. It has a bed, and it's got a curtain in between. They have two types, private and semi-private. Semi-private was open, and the private is pretty hard to get into. From what I understand, semi-private has a curtain that goes between them. They try to line them up with people with the same interests and stuff like that. It happened to work out for him because the guy that he's with, they both liked fishing when they were younger, so they hit it right off. It reminds me of a really nice hospital room. They have all kinds of physical activity and physical therapy. They have a dining room. They have a couple of rooms that is sort of like a bistro type thing that the residents can go to and watch TV, have like an orange juice or something with a little something to eat. It's a pretty nice set up. It got sold, they got turned over to a new owner. The new owner used to work there as a doctor some years ago, and he's going in there making all kinds of changes, which is excellent. It is expensive, they're a little bit above the average cost in New Hampshire from what I have read about, and he is in the memory care unit, so it makes it a little more expensive.
Thanks for taking care of my Mother

My Mother was a resident of Pleasant Valley Nursing Center. She unfortunately had CA and the staff were so kind and caring. She had a favorite nurse she called Princess. I will never forget her impact on a dying women who was proud and hated to ask for help. I will always be grateful for Princess and how she and the LNA's made my Mother's last months and days feel like her family. She would tell me how "wonderful" they were to her. I was a family member who realized nothing is perfect, and neither is it in your own home where you might take care of your own family member. Thank you Princess!

Rooms and facility are small but it's the people that matter. Our mother spent the last 11 months of her life at Pleasant Valley and the care she received was from a wonderful staff who does this job because they truly love what they do.

We had experience with an understaffed, overextended rehabilitation center at my mother’s last residence, but through a string of lucky breaks we were able to get Mom here. Pleasant Valley delivers well-coordinated, thorough and compassionate treatment, activities, and care in a warm, clean home with other good folks. Providing human services, especially at the end of our journey, is not an easy business. Weakening bones, fragile hearts, evaporating memories and heartbroken kin want miracles which Pleasant Valley, as humans, can’t do, but they give it real good shot. Mom can live with that.

I would rename this place "NOT So Pleasant Valley" Do NOT send your loved one here. It's just horrible - - significant staff turnover, not clean, care for patients is subpar and often times inhumane (one shower a week even if they are sitting in feces and several times went as much as 10 days before getting one), ring the bell for help and no one comes, laundry always missing and we had to replace every month out of our own pocket. Brought many issues to the head administrator (turnover here just as bad as staff) but nothing ever done. There's always a passing of the buck on issues and a "we'll look into it and get back to you". No one ever did. It comes down to staff members are so unhappy in their jobs that it impacts patient care. DON'T believe their ads and DON"T send your loved one here if you don't have to. We didn't have a choice because of funding and it was the worst experience.

I wrote a review the other day. I have been a patient at Pleasant Valley for several weeks and could not have been treated better. I didn't mention any of the nursing staff by name because I thought there erection many of them, but decided that wasn't fair. The nursing staff is excellent and includes Sue, Pam, Jessica, Nicole, Laurie, Cathleen, Kathy, Ryan, Liz, Lee, Denise, Linda, Brooke, and Katherine. I also only mentioned my primary therapists in the review, but should also mention Danielle, who I also had for physical therapy. She is also wonderful.

My mother was at Pleasant valley for rehabilitation following a fall at home. The staff was excellent and caring. If she wanted a shower, no matter what time of day, she got one. The call bell was answered right away and what ever her need was she got what she wanted. The staff smiled and helped so much. There is so much compassion there. I would recommend Pleasant valley to my family and friends.

Pleasant Valley Nursing Center was a very horrible place. My grandmother ended up getting put there by default because she was in the hospital in Derry, and they discharged her before consulting with us. When she got there, it became very difficult to get her doctor to be on board because they had to convince the insurance that she has to be transferred. The rooms were bad, they weren't clean, people stole stuff, and they lost stuff. There were four patients sharing one bathroom, and some patients had dementia, so they forgot they were in the bathroom. It was a nightmare. There was 1 good person out of 10 that really cared about what they were doing. Most of them treated every patient like they had Alzheimer's, which is horrible. When people would be asking for things, like a glass of water or a cup of juice, they would forget them, and I was there to witness it. I'd be watching my grandmother ask for these things, and these people would just walk by like she wasn't there. They weren't very forgiving when transferring her in and out of bed. Even just cleaning her in the shower or getting her from her chair to help her, they were just not very gentle. They basically had one woman that would try to speak in an upbeat voice, but she didn't really do much with the patients that I saw. I found them trying to pass a ball around at one point, but that was it. They had bingo day with the staff, but not the patients. They need to just check the place out and start over. Most of the people there don't care about them. Four patients to one bathroom is disgusting. They had the option where you can have the family take the laundry or they'll do the laundry for you. You just have to leave instructions, and we left very clear instructions all over the room not to touch the laundry, we will take it, but they took it. They lost her stuff, and it ended up in other people's closets. She died there unfortunately, and we went in to recover her items, but we still couldn't find her stuff. They were just very unhelpful. There is going to be one or two people I can give real praise to in that building, but for the rest of them, they were just miserable. We never met her doctor. The doctor on-staff never spoke to us.

Pleasant Valley seemed clean. I didn't see anything that didn't seem to be typical of a nursing home. The people were clean. It was up-to-date, and I thought the people were doing some type of activity at the time. I went in the Alzheimer's area because that's what my mom had, but they showed me some updated things that they had done with the bathroom, and they put in a new shower. The staff seemed friendly. I was there for such a short time, and the admission director was very helpful as far as answering the questions that I had. I had a feeling that they were pretty efficient.

Extremely disappointed with the quality of care this facility provides to the elderly. The decor is very out dated and it is not very clean. The food that is served is not healthy or fresh. And the patients do not get the proper attention they deserve. Explore other options.

I toured may nursing homes in the area and pleasant valley was the cleanest and most friendly of all. I did indeed have my mother there for rehabilitation. I was extremely pleased and so was she.
