My mom is a resident of Victorian Place of Union Assisted Living. The grounds are beautiful. They have an outdoor patio and covered carport where the cars come in, but a lot of the residents sit out there, and they've got bird feeders and flowers, and it's very nice. So there are two outside places for the residents to go to. The room is nice. She has two and a half rooms. She has a full bedroom, kitchenette, and living room, and we're very satisfied with that. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to her individual needs. They have a whole calendar every day. There are three things at least. They have bingo. They have special parties, themed parties. They like to get together and celebrate birthdays. There's a card and there's also a church service that comes in. She gets three meals and she's not complaining.

We made the choice based on comparative value, price, and the amount of care the residents received. My mom and brother went to Victorian Place of Union a couple of times and had lunch with the director before she finally settled in. She wanted some help when she got sick, since she was 88 years old. She did get sick, and they took very good care of her and handled it very well. They had a nursing person on staff 24 hours a day, and they looked in on her 3-4 times a night. They came to the door, looked in, and made sure she was OK. I really liked that they actually stopped and checked on her. She had a private room with two bedrooms, a bath, and a kitchenette in between. They did nice housekeeping in the rooms. I wished they had a day car or van for the residents if they needed to see the doctor to make appointments or reservations because my brother had to drive for about 7-8 miles to take her to the doctor and bring her back home. It would really be a plus if they had that. At this point, I would recommend this facility to other people.
