Turners Rock is totally different. Where my sister is at is like an apartment. They have a swimming pool. In her hall, there are only 16 people. There's a lot of one-on-one time. She loves it, and we're very excited for her. In the morning, she gets to order the food for the day and she can change her mind going to the meals and get something different. She loves the fact that she gets to choose. She loves her food, she loves to eat, and she said it's good. Being sick, I couldn't go help my sister. My sister called me about an issue and a lady staff there just said, 'I will go and help her straighten it out.' I felt so good that they're not understaffed and that it's like family there. The place is brand new. It's not built like an old normal facility with wings off. There are apartments there for independent living and assisted. When I started looking for a place for my sister, I thought it was just for 55 and over. I didn't even know it was a facility that had assisted and memory care. My sister enjoys the residents and her neighbors. It just feels like she's in an apartment. It doesn't have the feel of a nursing facility. It looks great. It's bright.

Turners Rock was very new, so it was very clean and very modern. What I liked least about it was it was quite a distance from me. It was on the northeast side of town, and I live on the southwest side of town. They were pretty good though. We just interacted with the one young lady who took us on the tour. She was informative, and polite, and showed us around the facility. They had a salon, a gym, activities, and transportation. I found the decor they chose to be a little dark, just the paint colors and things like that. It didn't have that kind of light and bright feeling that I was looking for, but it was very, very nice. It's not far from anything. Springfield is just not that big of a town, but it's not something I would just drive past like where my mother is located currently. This one was just a little further out.

Turners Rock was almost brand new. They were just now working on their memory care unit. The staff was good. The people that I dealt with were very nice. The only thing that concerned me in that facility was when I was visiting the memory care part of it, there was a movie with violence on, and no one seemed to care. It wasn't a horror movie, but it was brutal, and it was like on an 80-inch screen TV in their corporate room kind of thing. I know people that have Alzheimer's have problems trying to figure out what's going on. I felt like that was inappropriate for somebody with Alzheimer's that already has confusion to see violence. Sometimes people with Alzheimer's, get frustrated and angry, and sometimes they can become violent because of their frustrations, and I just felt like that was not good, and I told them that. That was probably one of the distractions I felt about that facility. They had nice rooms, really nice beds, and nice people. The staff was amazing, and they had lots of activities. But I felt like since it was like a new thing with them, the memory care part of it was like new-new, and so I felt like that I didn't want my mom to be an experiment for them.

We really liked Turners Rock, but my mother-in-law's not ready for it. The lady that did the tour was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions. It's nice and clean and has a homey atmosphere. They were having a happy hour at that time. They have patios, balconies, and a swimming pool. It's well decorated.

Turners Rock is a beautiful facility. The apartment that I toured was furnished, and it was very tasteful, very nice. It is a brand new facility. The staff, the ones that I met were very nice. The dining area was a restaurant type. It was gorgeous, everything was immaculate. Of course, being a new facility, you would kind of expect it to be, and it is. They had a very nice activity room, a nice library, they had a pool, a hot tub area as well, and they had a salon.
