We toured Joy Assisted Living. They were in the process of remodeling. There were a lot of areas that were torn up. The facility was very old. We understood that they were in the process of remodeling, but it didn't look great at all. The staff was friendly but everything was expensive. The rooms were smaller and they had these weird bathtubs that had a cutout in them. It wasn't all that convenient for my dad. Mom likes to take a bath and she wouldn't even be able to take a bath in the bathtub and the rooms were a lot smaller. The price was outrageously high.

We toured Joy Assisted Living. It was dirty and didn't look very well-maintained. It was very dated and the residents didn't seem to be happy; we didn't see any resident that was smiling. The rooms were small and dated, and the ones we saw weren't very clean. The common spaces all seemed OK, although they weren't as nice as the other place I toured. They had an activity room. The outdoor area we saw when we drove up front was fairly well-maintained. I didn't see anything wrong with the exterior.

Joy Assisted Living was a nice environment. It was clean, but it just had a little bit of an odor, but the rooms were actually really nice. They had almost like a kitchenette (which was super appealing), and you're able to have your own little wet bar space in your own room to where you could have a microwave, a few dishes, and get a midnight snack if need be. They had really nice options. The staff members were wonderful. They were willing to go above and beyond, were really friendly, and genuinely felt like they cared. I had my son with me at the time, and the administrator actually allowed my son to hang out with her, because they don't allow children in the facility beyond the office.

I toured Joy Assisted Living. I would say with the upkeep, the entrance needs help. The layout was fine, but I thought the rooms were dark. They are not updated as far as their décor. They have wallpaper coming loose at several places. Amenities seemed fine. However, they could improve on the maintenance of their building. The only person we met was the lady that took us through, and she was very nice. They need better maintenance cleaning, they need to probably update because their décor is very dated, and they need more light in there because it's dark.

We did tour Joy Assisted Living, and it was very nice. It was a just a place that we really wanted my mom to be in. Unfortunately, financially she just could not afford it. My sister and I cannot afford to add an extra $800 a month. Jennifer, the manager, was very nice and very accommodating. She took us around and showed us the rooms and facility. The facility is clean, and they got a lot of different activities. It is just a really nice place, and it is really where we wanted my mom to be. The shared rooms are more of like sorority-type rooms. They were spacious enough to have one bed against one wall and another against the other wall. You still have a large amount of living space. The private rooms were very nice and spacious. I did not really see too much going on at that time because it was mealtime. I know that they have a garden area, and they have a TV room or movie room. They have an activity center where they do a lot of crafts and things like that. I also know that they take weekly trips to Walmart. They also take trips to Branson to see shows and do shopping. For people visiting the facility they need to have an appointment, but for visiting relatives they are able to go in. They take temperatures. They ask the covid questions, and you need to wear masks.

The people at Joy Assisted Living were not expecting us even though we made the appointment about a week in advance. The first thing I noticed was the smell. It wasn't horribly strong, but it smelled like urine. Many of the residents that I saw were dirty. They looked like they had not had their clothes changed and or been bathed in a while. That was a real turnoff for me. The rooms were bigger and the price was less costly than the others, but with the cheaper price comes less service. It didn't leave me with a good feeling. It didn't make me think my parents would love the places. It's a nice place, it just needed a good mopping, some disinfectant, and bath soap.

Joy Assisted Living was a very nice, very homey place. When you walk in, the walls are covered in wallpaper, like an old-fashioned home. The furniture and stuff they have in there is homey too, including an old piano and the chairs. It feels like you're walking into the past, which is very comforting. Cathy, the administrator, was very good and very helpful in all her explanations. I liked her. There were a lot of residents mingling, talking, and sitting in the break room/lunch room. It's a very kind of take you back to the past place, which would be very comforting for older people.

Joy Assisted Living is a very nice place, and we've been very happy with it. The staff is very caring and treat my mom-in-law like family. Mom's room is a good-sized suite. They repainted and recarpeted it before she moved in. They have outings to WalMart on Fridays and church services on Sundays.

We visited Joy Assisted Living. It was nice and clean, but we didn't go in there when they were feeding, so we didn't know what the food was like. The atmosphere was friendly. The person who I talked to seemed knowledgeable about what they had to offer. The dining room was a pretty good-size, nice-looking room with round tables that looked like had enough room for everybody. I imagine they had activities because one room had a piano in it. The staff who toured me was friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous.

My Grandfather lived a Joy Assisted Living for almost two years. The staff were always very helpful and attentive to him and to us as well. He enjoyed the food very much and frequently would comment about it. He never needed help dressing but always needed help bathing and shaving which the staff took care of on a scheduled basis. I think he was bathed three times a week. They said they could do more or less whatever we felt he needed. Being there for as long as he was we got to know many of the employees and found them very caring and down to earth. The administrator Kathy has been there since they opened and I think that is why it is such a wonderful facility.

The facilities appeared to be clean and comfortable. Everything was well-maintained, nothing seemed neglected or in disrepair. The rooms were a bit on the small-ish side, but not so greatly as to be uncomfortable or unlivable. The grounds were well kept and the atmosphere was anything but dreary, with the open windows allowing some sunshine into the building. I will say that they seemed a bit understaffed. It took somewhat of a wait for my great grandmother to receive attention when she asked for it, and there was another elderly woman in the cafeteria asking for help but to no avail. All she said was, "Help me", over and over again but I never saw anyone attend to her. They just needed more nurses on duty and this could have been avoided. Either that or the nurses were not particularly attentive, which would reflect rather poorly on the organization overall.

My overall impression of the facility was, in fact, very positive. It was quite unlike the stereotypical idea of an assisted living home. The general atmosphere was cheery and upbeat (possibly because it was a holiday.) All of the staff members I interacted with seemed genuinely kind and caring. They were quick to respond to the needs of the residents and did so cheerfully. Judging by the attitudes of the residents, they were well cared-for and were enjoying themselves while living in the home. I was able to have conversations with several of the residents and when I asked them questions about their live in the assisted living home they responded positively, and told me about the various activities they participated in. The atmosphere is best described as homey or cozy, which I think made the residents feel comfortable. My only negative comment is that it seemed slightly understaffed. It wasn't a huge problem, but the workers seemed slightly stressed because they were caring for so many people at once.
