My mom has moved into Cedarhurst of Springfield MO. They do a good job of taking care of her. They specialize in memory care, which is my mom's biggest problem. She has Alzheimer's. I'm driving home from seeing her and she probably doesn't remember that I've been there, but they do a good job of managing her medicines and trying to keep her active, and trying to do things to help her with her memory. The food seems to be good. They're clean and organized. They seem to do a good job taking care of the facility. I like that they have outside people come in and give music therapy. They have karaoke with residents, too, and they do sing-a-long. For people who are losing their memories, one thing they don't lose is music, so it's a good way for them to connect. The one thing I like about there is convenience. It's easy to get there and get back home. It's easy to get in, and it's all good.

My dad has moved into Cedarhurst of Springfield, MO. He is doing very well there. He's very social, enjoys singing, and enjoys the activities they have there. They have sing alongs, morning walks, and they have outside seating, just socializing. They have like Bible online, or on TV, that they watch. They have little morning social gatherings where they drink coffee and talk. They're very friendly, very informative, and very helpful. They've keep me updated every time I call them, and make sure that I speak with someone that knows his care and directly works with him. Most of them do work directly with him, whether they are at the front desk, or whether they are actually certified nurse aides. They just work together, and they're very caring that way too. He's very satisfied with the food there. It's very clean and they maintain things very well. They keep his clothes clean and deliver them every day. I think the value is pretty reasonable, pretty much the going rate. Not only are they caring, but they're very connected with the people that they care for. There was an activity where I videotaped my dad; a few of them were just kind of crying because they were emotional, and really love the ones that they assist. That's what I appreciate about it too. They think of them like their own parents. There's one nurse practitioner that said that she reminds him of her dad that passed; she really appreciates him. That's what I like about it, it's personal with them. They were the only one that accepted him because they were the only ones that were willing to come out and actually talk to him. The director talked to him, and he complimented her on her purse. Immediately she thought, "Well, he doesn't seem to be a danger right now." So, they were the only ones that took the time to have seen, and visually talked to him. The others just went by the paperwork that the hospital had, and they were all refusing to take him.

I was very impressed with Maple Wood Alzheimer's Special Care Center and with the people working there. With all the amenities that they have, I felt that it would be a very good place for my mother. The staff was very informative, they answered all of my questions and it was a very good tour. Their rooms were more like shared living spaces. I was shown the rooms, they showed me all the safety features and everything that would be involved, including the living areas. They gave me a calendar that showed everything they have set up for the month, all the activities and things they're doing. I also did see involvement while I was there.

My Nana lived at Maplewood for almost 3 years before she passed away. She was initially unhappy that she could no longer stay safely in her home as she wished however the staff were so loving and kind I know she was more comfortable and happier than she wanted family to believe. She had a private room that was always clean as was the rest of the facility. The meals were tasty and nutritious and staff always encouraged me to dine with her. The facility is very nicely appointed and maintained. I can’t say enough about the care and the genuine kindness and love that staff showered on my Nana. I know in her heart she would have preferred to spend her final days in her home but I am comforted knowing that she was truly loved and cared for. My Nana is my heart and I have no hesitation recommending Maplewood. The journey of dementia is so heartbreaking but the peace of mind knowing your loved one is receiving the best care available does ease the burden somewhat.

Maple Wood is a very nice facility and they were good. The rooms were nice and apartment-type. The staff is very good. The downside is you can't bring an animal with you.

My father was a resident in the Maple Wood Alzheimer's Special Care facility for the last five months of his life. This facility was absolutely wonderful for him! He had previously spent a few weeks in a different high quality nursing home, but he did terribly there due to his desire to constantly be on the move and becoming overstimulated by the noise and activity. He actually was expelled from that facility due to his restlessness and interference with other residents - such as going into their rooms and bothering them. Since all of the patients in Maple Wood suffer from similar cognitive limitations, his behavior was not as disturbing to the other residents and he enjoyed the quieter environment. He loved to walk the hallways and could stop and sit in readily available and comfortable seating. [By regulation, chairs are not allowed in the hallways of most nursing homes.] The staff were WONDERFUL. They obviously cared for dad and did their best to keep him nicely dressed and groomed - which was not easy due to his resistance to "help" and his penchant for "borrowing" other peoples belongings. The food was also wonderful, which resulted in his gaining weight (he had been anorexic) shortly after moving in. When dad began his terminal decline, the administration and staff gave us the opportunity of involving hospice and he passed away peacefully in his room with family members at his side. I never fully relaxed prior to dad's living at Maple Wood. I always had concern in the back of my mind that he would get himself into some sort of trouble and would either harm himself (accidently) or that I or my sister would have to drop everything and run to his rescue. Once dad had moved to Maple Wood, I was able to fully relax when I was away from him, as I knew he was safe and being cared for better than I could!

Maple Wood is very nice, and the staff is wonderful. Everything about the place is wonderful. My mom goes to activities all the time like bingo, stretching exercise, and yoga. My mom likes the food.

Maple Wood is really quite large, but it is quiet. It is very nice and well decorated. I did eat there, and I thought the food was pretty good. They do have activities for the seniors. Maple Wood is nice, and it is really convenient in Springfield. I think it is a little higher priced than the other community, but it is very nice. I like the way it is. It's quite large, but they have several different entrances, and I think they monitor the patients quite well.

I visited Maple Wood for my husband. It’s very nice and very clean. I love that it goes around, and that they have Alzheimer’s patients only. They have a lot of activities for the people. The dining room has a piano, and some of the patients could play it. They have someone come in and play for them all, so it was very nice. I would recommend them to others. The only reason I say 4 because of the shared rooms. They’re big but there is no wall or curtain or anything, it is just open. I think sometimes people would like to have a little privacy.

Maple Wood Alzheimer's Special Care Center is a wonderful place. They are very well staffed. They know what’s going on with my Dad. He has been so much happier there. The place is physically beautiful. They have very beautiful common areas which are spacious, and nice. Dad has done very well in this facility, and we are very pleased with the staff.

I liked Maple Wood but I didn't like the price that they had. They're so expensive. The people there were very nice. I didn't think that they really paid that much attention to him because he didn't come out of his room. They would try to get him to go out but he didn't want to play games and he didn't want to do some of the things that they were doing. He's 89. He doesn't want to play games. They had fancier facilities, all kinds of things to do but he didn't use them.

My mother-in law was a resident of Maplewood. The staff is very very caring and the facility is amazing. I will tell any one who needs help with a loved one to use them.
