St. Louis Altenheim is pretty fancy. It's right on the Mississippi River. You look out and you see the barges, then you look north, and you see The Arch. I have a one-bedroom that's about 30 by 30. I am on the corner so it has two big windows on each side. The accommodations are very nice. The people are very, very friendly and so are the residents here. The staff go out of their way to help everybody. They are knowledgeable and helpful and I'm just very comfy. You supply your own appliances. I bought a small refrigerator, but your meals are supplied here. They serve you three meals a day and their dining is not like a cafeteria. They have people that serve you. You sit there and they feed you. The activities are varied and they are very good. There is a craft room and they offer different entertainment. There are like three or four parlors and TVs all over the place. It's quite nice.

St. Louis Altenheim was bought by an Individual in 2022 which raised the rates 25%. Food is horrible and activities are almost nil. Many staff were let go and there is a constant change in nursing staff. We are looking for a new assisted living facility.

In 2022, an individual purchased the St. Louis Altenheim on S. Broadway. Since the change over their rent increased to $175 a day. The food quality has become terrible, many Residents can’t or won’t eat it. Activities are none. No stimulation for the residents. The Altenheim constantly changes employees in the nursing department and residents suffer by not getting the correct medication. I would not recommend them to anyone!
